I sujpport him in his double's success.. maybe he will decide to be full time doubles. It would make us all happier... except for the kids that he hits with balls and makes cry.. Kyrgious is a brat!
Wow, theres a lot of distain for him. Well, shoot, his results are speaking for themselves. He's winning in singles and doubles. The rankings are rising. Time will tell but he seems to be pretty locked in.
Nick is a fascinating player. Though his behavior is often times inexcusable at best, he's certainly entertaining with his unique shot making and crowd engagement. Also shoutouts to FYB. They taught the best serve technique that made my serve incredibly consistent, to the point that I was left thinking that even some of the highest level pros could really learn from this site.
Nick can be a jerk but no more so than Medvedev, Zverev and Shapalov, whom the ATP tries desperately to promote. Also, him calling out Warwrinka for dating a teen girl is NOT worse than Warwrinka actually leaving his wife, who had just given birth to his kid, in order to date teen girls.
But he didn't call out Wawrinka for dating that girl... He said his friend has banged her during a match. Just to make him mad... I don't know what is wrong with you to defend such behaviour but no matter what you think of Wawrinka that was a piece of $hit move.
While I love Stan's tennis, what he did off court is god damn creepy. I wouldn't expect ATP to manage player life, but promoting them as classy human beings is so fucked up when you know things like that happen
@derek lol "concentrating on his career". The GOAT himself got married to a woman who's neither a model or sport star. She was there when he got jack shit to his name, and she's still there after 20 grand slams and 2 sets of twins We don't know what goes on in their private life, but I'm sure having such a family should mean he's at least a decent person unlike some. And I say that knowing that tennis players are the more educated bunch compared to most athletes, say, footballers
I think Kyrigos is a lot worse than all of the players you mentioned. The only player in the ATP I see rivaling Kyrigos was Bernard Tomic whom seems to have given up on Tennis as a career. Medvedev, Shapavolov, and Zverev have had an occasional blow up, but very rarely that takes over the match, and I haven't seen them being really disrespectful to their opponent. Kyrigos is more consistently bad, and lets it take over the entire match frequently. I also really don't like Medvedev for his antics, and how he can get so nasty towards the umpire, but I still see Kyrigos as worse.
So? That's Stan's life outside the court. On the court, the rival should be there just to play tennis, not to call out someone for his private life, for something that was very shitty but not even illegal
NK reignited my love for tennis and has gotten thousands of people to love tennis who never would’ve. The sport isn’t the same if everyone’s a Nick kyrgios but every sport needs its great entertainer and NK delivers on that front. If the new fans will remain fans for life NK will have been undeniably good for the sport.
Great video. Didn’t know nick had so much going on with addiction/mental health. Really interesting to see a player actually talk about how they actually feel.

Jesus, that segued into a sponsor ad seamlessly - barely even knew it happened until he mentioned fuzzy yellow balls! Great stuff, and great vid as usual.
Nick is one of the reasons I actually got interested in Tennis. Please don’t get me the wrong way but it’s always been hard for me to really get into Tennis, particularly because it always felt so “stiff” and “traditional” and Nick has done a great job in making the sport more accessible for people like me.
Understandable, and an opinion many share! Despite the ATP's non-stop assignment of fines given to Kyrgios, it's no surprise he ironically also receives centre court billing and prime time match schedules
I think it also attributed to the way it's portrayed. Birdseye doesn't show how fast the game is vs court level. The production quality is lower compared to how other sports are displayed
Please. The only reason tennis has been “boring” lately is because the generations following Federer Nadal and Djokovic failed to beat them. Kyrgios acting like a wanker doesn’t change that, he’s a part of that failure.
I personally like Kyrgios. His antics and unpredictable shots are so interesting. And to those who complain "it's not professional to do underhand serves/trick shots", my counter argument is well, is it against the rules? Isn't the goal of tennis to win points? Aren't players supposed to be able to react to shots accordingly? It's not Nick's fault you were expecting a banger serve out wide but got a soft underhand instead. It's a smart play. As for his comments, I think sometimes it's understandable. Sometimes I can understand why he would be upset at the crowd. Yes, the players should "be professional" and not get caught up with the crowd, but at the same time, the crowd should have some kind of code of conduct as well (or a more policed one). And I feel sometimes the crowd can cross the line. I'm not saying Nick also doesn't cross the line, especially with comments against his opponent or officials. He does, and fairly often. I'm just saying that I can see where he is coming from sometimes.
The crowd has gotten out of line with him like once.. he has gotten out of line with the crowd, the lines people, the umpire, the opponets a million times! He cannot play a game without stirring some trouble. He hasn't done it for years.
'Baby, why do you make me hit you? Can't you understand that you can't talk to me like that and not expect to get hit?' Kyr is just another spoiled little 'rebel' trying and failing to be as cool and charming as Agassi, trying to be a badboy like Mcenroe, and just all around a complete narcissist as evidenced by his bullshit 'I'm like so depressed guyz, it's not my fault I act out, I'm just a helpless widdle boy'. I don't care if some Happy Gilmore wannabe does stupid trick shots. People don't like him because he's a whiny tanker who acts like a 12 year old who has never been told 'no', not a professional athlete. Sounds like you need to grow up, too.
I also think that there became a weird cycle where he has a negative reaction to something, which makes people comment negatively, which makes him react negatively again, and so on...almost like a chicken and egg scenario. But it can PROBABLY be traced back starting to one of his negative reactions.
I think his antics expose how soft the umpires have become. He's not the only brat out there, but it makes laugh when he went to the toilets to smash his racquets to avoid a code violation. I know tennis organisers don't want to lose money by banning players for throwing objects, but a line has to be drawn. Having said that, nick has revived my tenuous interest in tennis. If he was a racing driver, he'd be a win or spin type of driver, you never know what's next
@@MidoriBaaka I don't mean they let him get anyway with code violations that are mandatory for all players, but he's a smart arse who pushes the limit of rules and etiquette. Along with Zverev, Stefanos, Medevev, I'm questioning when will organisers, umpires and rulemakers start clamping down on this bratty beahviour from the younger millennial/Gen z players?
To me, Kyrgios' trick shots and unique approach to playing tennis are lots of fun to watch, but I find his on-court behavior intolerable. It's not just the major outbursts, but even smaller things like talking immediately before his opponent serves which shows his disrespect for his opponent and for the game. I don't understand how people are still such devoted fans of Kyrgios when he literally yells at fans and even his own box for supporting him and encouraging him when he seemingly doesn't want them to, and for not giving him enough support when he thinks he deserves it.
Are there no rules against this in tennis? We call that 'sharking' in billiards, and it is _absolutely_ something the ref will warn you about and potentially lose you the match if you keep doing it. If you do it in Golf you're basically asking to be strangled by your entire foursome.
I think the same of him. He could be such a joy to watch but I cannot stand his behaviour. And I don't understand how he seems to get away with almost everything. As a Zverev Fan I couldn't help but thinking if he wore a Red Cap in Wimbledon he'd be getting all the punishment there is in the Tennis world.
@@johnbowman3630 god damn. All these "sports" are supposed to have top players, but they cant even handle someone talking to them during play? Pathetic.
Tennis is a sport where it is difficult to hide your flaws. Everyone can see you rising up or breaking down. One thing for sure is that despite his countless failings, everyone wants to see him succeed and get himself together. I hope he finds the right answer.
He is what tennis needs. He's one of many who are outcasted early for playing tennis "looking differently" from the ideal player that's generalized as higher class. I've played 10+ years from an area of town described as "ghetto" with players that were completely unorthodox to compete with those from families pouring thousands into their lessons and equipment even in high school. I can't begin to describe the discrimination we got as a team after beating a team that "looked better" than us. This day in age, the rules have never said what a tennis player looks like and needs to act like. The snarky snob attitudes needs to stop. It's far better than in the past, but still remains from preconceived notions.
You're trying to make it into a race and class thing, but you're way off base with "rules have never said what a tennis player looks like and needs to act like" - they _absolutely_ do both of those things, it's called dress code and player conduct. If you can't show basic respect for your fellow players and observe the etiquette of the game then you don't deserve respect yourself. People don't dislike this guy because of race or class, they dislike him because he's a prick. Stop making excuses for the shitty attitude of some dude you're trying to build up as the proletariat of modern tennis; no one is above the rules.
It’s kind of funny how split Australia is on Nick everyone has an opinion on him but id say in recent times he’s been getting more and more popular and accepted
With the amount of trouble Nick has gotten it’s easy to forget he has the most amazing talent he has and possibly Grand Slam winning potential (as demonstrated at Wimbledon this year). It’s more noticeable this year he’s matured a lot more and is playing at a way he shows passion. As a fan (please don’t hate me) I do hope he carries that passion for the rest of his career
I don’t hate Nick. And the “showman” stuff I’m okay with. But I don’t find constantly whining endearing. (He’s the biggest whiner on tour, but because he’s “cool” folks like to overlook that). I don’t find looking for any excuse to argue with the crowd or umpire damn near every match entertaining. While it seems to be more than just needing to “grow up”. It seems like he has some legit internal issues. And the people hyping up his antics don’t help him grow or help him deal with whatever issues he’s dealing with.
love to see Nick happy and playing great tennis. Cant excuse how he treats the umpires and line judges, even if he is right, but besides that I think NK is great for tennis
Kyrgios is exactly what tennis needs: excitement, not taking traditions so serious and understand that when u make millions you should also live a little. Not every tennis players goal needs to be become the number one for years...
He's absolutely good for the game. I think if the media hammered him *less* for the "wasted potential", then ironically I think we would've have seen that "potential" more over the years.
Kyrgios has amazing talent, just like Federer. The difference is Federer acknowledged his weakness and humbled himself. He worked on his backhand, which took discipline. Something Kyrgios doesn’t have. DISCIPLINE.
man really out there playing thug tennis and acting like he's playing with a homie and i got to say, he does it well. his match against Djokovic was damn good. i absolutely think he needs to take it back to an accpetable level but the dude can play very well, would be a shame if he can't keep within within limits

While I never condone his antics whenever he gets flustered, I respect his approach to the game and how he thinks outside the box with certain shots. He’s just different, he brings a different level of excitement to the game cuz he’s so unpredictable and his talent is undeniable. Can’t wait to see what he’ll do next 😝
"20 to 30 drinks every night", lol anyone who has ever done any drinking and plays sports knows this is an outright fabrication or a massive exaggeration.
Hee would be dealing in AUstralian standard drinks, it would be something like 13 or 14 beers and over a longer period that is possible, sitting down from 6-2am and eventually falling asleep to the beers you were sitting on.
NK is the most talented player. He said he doesnt practice on court that much. See his pre-match warm up with Milan from Tenfitmen. Its hilarious. He was messing around in a hoodie. Also, Mouratoglou even said NK doesnt even take his fitness program seriously too. Despite this, he became a doubles Grand Slam Champ and made Wimby singles finals. That is all talent.
As a guy that likes WWE and tennis, Kyrgios is one of my favorites because he feels like he should be a WWE guy the way he works the crowd and talks. I'm also a sucker for good serving, probably since I root for US players and that's the archetype.
I'm not sure excusing inappropriate behaviour, assault and complete lack of respect for everyone on court just because his antiques might make the sport a little more popular is the way to go. Also, if Nadal doesn't like you, you are doing something wrong, mate...
Nadal doesn’t have a monopoly on tennis etiquette. They introduced the shot clock because he (amongst other players) too so long to serve - the game was become boring. He regularly still ignores it which more often than not; goes unpunished. As for him feeling disrespected that NK plays a fast service game and gave him an underarm serve - his opponent doesn’t owe him anything other than playing by the rules. They certainly don’t have any obligation to play at his preferred pace either. I like Nadal; but his criticisms of NK (other than abusing officials) missed the mark for me and screamed of self importance
@@munchimunch4187 They were though; it isn't like it was an hour or so of not getting along... it was like 90% of the time they've known eachother.. and the reasons why they were on bad terms is to be remembered and the resons why he and Wawrinka and Djokovic didn't get along is to never be forgotten. It is an example of what Kyrgios really is.
@@Floods-uy6tl Trying to game your opponent might be technically within the rules, but it still makes you an asshole. If NK (lol at your acronym) can't play a normal game of tennis against Nadal then I guess I'd ask why your little hero is so damn scared? Worried he can't hack it? Might have a break down and post a sob story to instagram again? Oh, dear. Maybe you can dry his tears for him.
Kyrgios as a player has fantastic serve and tremendous touch, but his mental side holds him back (e.g. ability to handle pressure), just as you mentioned, the huge expectations cast on him at an early age didn't help. If he had the mental toughness or work ethic or someone like Alex De Minaur, he would have been a consistent top 10 player. Right now he enjoys being a lower-ranked player who can beat a top 5 player whenever he feels like it. I think he uses these outbursts or behavioural things to cast distractions on his performance. Quite often you can see he is motivated to beat top players but don't care as much (or struggles to stay motivated) when playing lower ranked players. He is basically a tennis version of an internet troll, I think he secretly enjoys trolling (red hat at Wimbledon is a classic example). Like him or hate him, his issues constantly being on the spotlight attracts attention and media focus, it might not be good for his personal brand but it attracts a lot of attention on the sport (because people either like him for not conforming, or hate him for his antics). There isn't a character like him (thankfully) in the WTA and you can see how boring the WTA has been lately.
There is no doubt that he is good for the sport, but that doesn’t mean that u should like him. He argues constantly and displays a lot of unsportsmanlike conduct.
@Patrick Hamos exactly. I personally prefer a more stoic approach to sports and life in general but if an opponent can get in your head that's no one's fault but your own in the case of Tsitsipas
he IS the best thing that happened to tennis sincefeder and serena debut 25 years ago. only player to beat the big 4 on the first try. im excited he is back. THE SPRING OF ALCARZ AND THD SUMMER OF KYRGIOS. They are both the best thing to mens tennis..kyrgios wats great and especially dc and rogers cup kyrgiois seems to understand that he is probably the best at the net in tennis todsy. and his biggest weapon is his second serve. better than almost everyone's first serve but averages in the 120-130s which for a second serve is unheard of. If Kyrgios snd alcaraz wanted to they are botyh unbeatable and can hit winners from anywhere on the court. Tsitzi Zverev and medvedev dont possess the weapons and the power that they do watching kyrgios flick his wrist and set off a rocket is something I've never seen before. Never seen a shot that is so fast at the guys feet but its so fast he cant even get the racquet back and that includes all the big 4. he probably is the only player who has beaten novak more than lost to him.
As an Australian I'm obliged to like him and often defending him much like our other "not the best behaving Aussies" like Bernard Tomic, Andrew Simmons and even Lleyton Hewitt's yelling antics. But as a sports spectator I personally cannot watch them.
Imagine what it must be like to be a top-ranked elite player going up against Kyrgios. He's much lower-ranked than you, he's lazier than you, he's douchier than you, he's flashier than you, and worst of all, he's better than you.
7:42 Hugo Gaston got $155,000 fine for throwing a ball from his pocket in a feeble attempt to get a do-over. I heard he talked it down to around $75,000 which is still over 5% of his total career prize money winnings.
Something may have clicked in at the citi open. Guy looks the most Focused he’s ever looked in his career. Minimal antics. Saved 8 match points against tiafoe.
I personally absolutely adore Nick. Hes this generations parallel to MacEnroe. Uber talented and is always entertaining to watch because you can always expect the unexpected.
I was at his match at the western and southern. I don’t remember much about it except for when he walked into the locker room hallway and smashed his racquets. He is a very good player and I respect his game. His tweeners and underarms are the greatest. Even better then that is his ability to win any point. He could be in a lengthy rally he’d barely be in control of and wind up and smash a winner.
the fact that this video has 91k views in less than a week lets you know how interesting this man is really ? he isn't a bad guy at all just misunderstood .
He some narcissistic traits. It doesn’t make him a “bad” person, but it makes him disagreeable, insecure, prone to feeling depressed and alcoholism, bad at managing personal relationships, have anger issues and attention seeking. On the positive side, he’ll be very resilient and sure of himself and quite charming and fun.
The big three have almost made it where it will be hard for whoever comes after to have a big profile. As of now you're really only talking Medvedev, Zverev, Alcaraz, Tsitsipas and Krygios of the younger players who have any sort of name recognition. Hopefully Krygios can get and stay in the top 20 for a while and challenge for these titles as he brings interest to the sport.

She was there when he got jack shit to his name, and she's still there after 20 grand slams and 2 sets of twins
We don't know what goes on in their private life, but I'm sure having such a family should mean he's at least a decent person unlike some.

He's entertaining and tennis needs controversy to grab attention to gain popularity. I love tennis but those that don't play it, find it very boring.
I think it also attributed to the way it's portrayed. Birdseye doesn't show how fast the game is vs court level. The production quality is lower compared to how other sports are displayed
That’s not always true.
Please. The only reason tennis has been “boring” lately is because the generations following Federer Nadal and Djokovic failed to beat them. Kyrgios acting like a wanker doesn’t change that, he’s a part of that failure.
That’s why I love Kyrgios and Ostapenko
So your suggestion is to praise idiots like kyrios? Arrogance, bad manners in general? Sound like the classic American sport culture.
It's great that we have Kyrgios in the circuit. Wish he played more tournaments during the year
"using F bomb in front of Prince George" 💀
Legend
Can't you understand that you can't talk to me like that and not expect to get hit?'
Kyr is just another spoiled little 'rebel' trying and failing to be as cool and charming as Agassi, trying to be a badboy like Mcenroe, and just all around a complete narcissist as evidenced by his bullshit 'I'm like so depressed guyz, it's not my fault I act out, I'm just a helpless widdle boy'.
I don't care if some Happy Gilmore wannabe does stupid trick shots. People don't like him because he's a whiny tanker who acts like a 12 year old who has never been told 'no', not a professional athlete. Sounds like you need to grow up, too.
Uh no. He has severe mental illnesses and/or personality disorders. Almost no one complains about the trick shots anymore, everyone loves those
I also think that there became a weird cycle where he has a negative reaction to something, which makes people comment negatively, which makes him react negatively again, and so on...almost like a chicken and egg scenario. But it can PROBABLY be traced back starting to one of his negative reactions.
@@regularmouse4230 IDK, I've seen a bunch of various tweets during Wimbledon complaining about his trick shots.
The guy abuses officials and even threats them at times... how does that having to do with any "soft the umpires have become"
He’s definitely my favorite player right now. Roger, Rafa, and Djoko’s time is nearing its end. Can’t wait to see what the new talent brings!
Alcaraz and Sinner😍

This was honestly the smoothest sponsor plug I've ever seen on youtube 😂
This is yet another amazing vid Cult Tennis. Great great work. 🙌🏻🔥
Omg I was waiting for you to do a video on Krygios!!!
A long time coming!
Nick kyrgios is my favourite player and the person who got me into tennis.

Kyrgios is exactly what tennis needs: excitement, not taking traditions so serious and understand that when u make millions you should also live a little. Not every tennis players goal needs to be become the number one for years...
Nick is just a genius, this guy is a rebel and he do what he wants I mean don’t we need to break the rules in life to be happy and have fun?
He's absolutely good for the game. I think if the media hammered him *less* for the "wasted potential", then ironically I think we would've have seen that "potential" more over the years.
I love all your videos! Can you please make a video on Kei Nishikori please?
Kyrgios has amazing talent, just like Federer. The difference is Federer acknowledged his weakness and humbled himself. He worked on his backhand, which took discipline. Something Kyrgios doesn’t have. DISCIPLINE.

I love these videos man
As a longtime Nick fan, I really hope he can win a major singles title one day. This is probably the best tennis he’s ever played since 2015/16.
I'm not sure excusing inappropriate behaviour, assault and complete lack of respect for everyone on court just because his antiques might make the sport a little more popular is the way to go.
Also, if Nadal doesn't like you, you are doing something wrong, mate...
Nadal and Kygrios aren’t in bad terms anymore
Might have a break down and post a sob story to instagram again? Oh, dear. Maybe you can dry his tears for him.
Can you make a video about Andrey Rublev plss
