Awesome build! I would consider replacing that hand lever clutch with a foot pedal option that mated into a full foot platform) that locked down and then released with a cable running to a hand/thumb lever - that way you can have both hands on the handlebars while releasing the drive. Great job!
I love classical motorcycles, that's one impressive build. I have a pretty good ole 6.7 HP Tecumseh lawn mower engine and some old bicycles. I may try to put together something like that.
Like a page from my past. I started with the same engine but it was from a snow thrower that died in the Blizzard of 66. Built the bike in 1970, age 12. For quieting and a cool special effect, bend up a copper baffle of sorts and screw in inside the exhaust pipe. More throaty sound and green flames at night. Nice job on the build and a very entertaining video.

Brilliant build. Use what ya got. This was every boy's dream as a kid. But not many of us had welders and drill presses so some of the stuff we did was kinda dangerous. I built one of these a few years ago using one of those $100 ebay kits.If I knew how much fun it would be I would have built much sooner. Even the Harley guys love it. I thought they would laugh me off the road.
Adapting to the bike was a lot of ingenuity. I like the drive system. Good job! I always wanted to build one with the drive pressing on the tire somewhere.
Just throwing this out there: you could have used a brake/clutch lever for the engagement of your drive pulleys. It would have allowed you to keep both hands where they should be.
I was thinking the same thing. I think he meant to keep the technology on the level of the rototiller though. Still, excellent craftsmanship and execution. You have to wonder what else is coming down the pike.
This is very nice!!! Vintage bike, vintage engine, everything goes very well together, you made perfect use of that antique briggs,👍 this is something i thought of doing when i was a teenager, but unfortunatly i didnt have access to the tools i needed back then, although i did manage, (just) to build a go cart out of wood and bicycle wheels using an old 3 hp briggs and stratton off a cement mixer. It went ok i guess!! I recall Someone else locally who managed to fit a homelight XL chainsaw engine in the frame of a mountain bike, as i recall he left the front sprocket in situ and added a chain and sprocket down to that from the engine, using the saws existing clutch. It looked rough, but it worked. I have an old raleigh bicycle in the shed and still have some briggs engines so now you have me thinking!!!! Thanks for sharing this All the best, and i wish you many happy miles with it ,👍☘️🇮🇪

In the early 60s we used chrome rim rings and a belt for the drive. The rim was similar to what Golden Eagle (GEBE) uses but smooth and for standard fan belts vs their kevlar geared belts. The rim rings were from various older cars, maybe from the 40s. Rudely and crudely we mounted the engines with plywood or whatever metal we could find. I use to put mine on the front wheel, direct drive. Pedal to start, coaster brakes to stop. Yes they were crappy and dangerous but we were young. That was for one summer then we graduated to mini bikes, then Honda 90s and up, then Harleys. Luckily we all lived and so far made it to our mid 60s.

Why not just remove the left food pedal and put the belt pulley on the shaft? Then you would have gears/speeds. Find a centrifical, (centrifugal), clutch for it.
I keep hearing the bicycle chains can't take the load but I saw these motorized bikes in my youth doing just fine! The B&S Engine was mounted on two 2x4's that were clamped to the frame and had belt drive to a pulley on the left side, mounted to the pedal shaft. The belt was large enough to go from the engine to the lower pulley and up to another pulley that could be pressurized by the riders foot. The movable pulley was mounted to a 2x4 on the frame and went up enough to allow force to be applied by foot with a small bar extended on the pulley center axle. Worked just fine. Maybe chains were stronger in the early 60's?
Turned out nice!! We made minibikes back in the 70's with old 5hp Briggs& Stratton engine's. Though all I could think of with that setup, was one big bump on the front end and one of the weld's busting.

I think you just motivated me to switch from 2 stroke china doll to 4 stroke. Great build man. One of the coolest ive seen on youtube and facebook.
Pretty cool. Two things though; the footpegs look rough and out of place. I'm guessing you just cobbled them together quick so you could ride? And the other thing is that I'm surprised the gas tank didn't catch fire or explode when you were welding the throttle bracket. You got very lucky (also when you managed to put your shirt out). When welding on or around fuel tanks I've always run water through them for ten minutes or so, than filled them completely with water to make sure there were no vapors. Something to think about
An old boss claimed you can weld a full tank of gas to fix a leak if you have a constant flow of air going thru the tank so.no explosive vapors have a chance to collect and explode. He said the most that happens is it will poof out wherever the air is coming out at. Which goes right out I guess. Ive never tried it but it makes sense
