Looks like they drew inspiration from Nitecore's Tip2 $ Tini2 and threw everything but the kitchen sink at it. I'll stick to the Tini2, that light's nearly perfect (It's so much more than just a keychain light). The only thing it's missing to be perfect is a flat, magnetic back so I could tailstand it & stick it on metal surfaces for hands free illumination, but then they'd have to make it bigger (or eliminate the hook in the back for the included keychain hook) and slightly change the form factor which is a huge part of what makes it so amazing. And it's only 40 bucks.
It's the lightest, tiniest lil' rectangle with great ergonomics, two buttons, one for going through the levels, or press & hold for turbo (literally jaw-dropping in my experience when I first got it), a very nice OLED display with the level, lumens and runtime left in each level (as well as battery voltage/bar when you press the mode button while off), USB-C port for charging, and excellent runtime. The levels are well spaced out, the output is beautiful; very floody but with a nice hotspot in the center, beam is nice and pure white (I'd say ~5000k) and when you slam the turbo... boy this light has nooooo business being this dang bright! It's just too tiny, it doesn't make any sense! And it's not like those overpowered lights where you slam on the turbo and it drops out in 30 seconds and scorches your hand. I don't even use it as a keychain light since I never really need that, and I liked it too much to let it take a beating with the keys in my pocket. Kept it for use around the house mostly, as it's perfect for that and mega convenient. It's also a blast outdoors in the park or just to blow people's minds when hanging around.

@@DinnerForkTongue Yeah I love the OLED screen on my Tini2 and my TM39. Huge improvement over the one on my much older TM26GT (which I already thought was great, and still do).

I like the swivel head and the small screen, but the dual LED is unnecessary, plastic body means lower durability, no removable battery is a red flag, and I'd much much rather have a bigger body with an USB-C port for wired charging.
Put the head and screen on an 18650/21700 torch and I'd be interested.
Thanks for the mini-review, Ethan. Seems we agree on a lot of points.

A classic example of "just because you can or have the technical ability to do something, doesn't mean you should"
I think the biggest problem of this light is the charging case. I guess the idea works when it comes to earbuds or something but at this size i don't see the point at all and when its inside the case you just have this massive block that doesn't really contain a ton of runtime and light. Also the wireless charging also means you'll get even less runtime because its really inefficient.
The light itself is a great idea i think, the sustainable performance is obviously horrible and i don't think there is away around that with the plastic body and swivel head design you just don't get any good heat capacity / dissipation.
This product could work really well if they changed a few things:
-get rid of the case and maybe even the wireless charging coil, add a usb c port (the implementation of the usb C port on the wuben x2 is already perfect)
-maybe make the light a bit bigger and fit it with 2 18650s or something similar, the battery that is in there for now is just not cutting it.
-offer different configurations with maybe 2 white leds and one with a red option, maybe one with a uv and one configuration that has a tint mix
I love the overall design the oled display, the head, they should keep those things for sure even tho it all takes up space and doesn't make this the greatest performer

There are plenty of lights that implement all your change suggestions. I don’t think we need any more of them…
Personally, I do have a use for the portable charging case. Don’t equate not seeing the point in it not having one.
Lastly the plastic body is not an issue. Not sure where you got the idea that heat dissipation is a problem…but it’s not. This thing runs very very cool on High.
I agree it does not blow me away in the performance department. Though, when I need performance I turn to one of many performance focused light. When I need features I turn to feature focused lights. That really applies to anything in my life - sometimes I drive a sports car, others the Prius, or even a truck. I’ll never complain that the Prius is too slow or the truck is bad on gas, nor suggest they should change.

I can’t stand magnets on my flashlights. I get metal shavings and all kinds of things stuck in them. Get too close to a hard drive and I’m tearing that thing up too. I’m sick of unsustainable outputs, much rather have longer run times. I don’t want to click out Morse code to enter different modes. All I want is the ability to change the sequence from high to low or low to high. And forward clickies only. Not e switches either.

I like Wuben but I wouldn't buy this flashlight is because I don't like spending $80 for a flashlight that I eventually have to throw away because I can't replace the battery. It's also impractical to use in the field because I can't swap the battery with a fresh one. Instead, I have to use this awkward case to charge it. Then I have to charge the case. It's just weird.
I agree that it's underpowered for the price. I have $15.00 flashlights from Amazon that are equally EDC and more powerful.
I LOVE that they're thinking outside the box (by putting a flashlight inside a box, ironically.) But the flaws are too great to justify the price. If they can fix these problems (also with the X2) then I would be all over this brand (I still might get the 12,000 lumen X1.)
