This version, imo, is way more touching. Acoustic gives it more dephts. Chills from first second till the end. Such a bliss!

I am reopening Ultraviolet with this sessions. Or I can even say just "opening", because I didn't like it's sound - too pop, too ordinary, without power and depth of there usual instrumental and rock sound. But this version does not sound like a pop song, it's full of incredible sadness and sorrow. Can't stop listening, and I almost didn't remember it from the album.

Exactly, his use of words to express an emotion or a moment is incredible. Like you say there are lines used in his lyrics and each one so wonderful

How do you do that? Every single time, you surpass yourselves... Angel is an incredible song in its original form, but now it is perfect! No, it is above perfection! The piano, majestic, brings an intimate feel to the song, and Marko, sir, your voice accompanied only by the piano became "angel" like (pun intended) - more than usual I mean. I love the imagery of Angel, I've always said so, but you guys gave it a whole new dimension for which no word exists that could actually do it justice. Magical

Today of all day, I see your comment as I am grieving for the loss of a dear friend and this song is of such comfort ❤. It is all I can tell you at the moment... I might had a crack at it on my blog, but I am not sure now...
This is truly transformative! I love the original version, but it has such a frenetic energy and house/dance vibe that I couldn't imagine how it would be adapted for an acoustic performance. This version turns it into a totally new song with a completely different energy, and it's so unbelievably gorgeous! Captain's piano is haunting, and Marko's vocals are - as always - like soft moonlit velvet. This gave me chills of the absolute best kind. 💜💜💜
Totally agree original reminded me of the last part of Footloose (with Kevin Bacon, haven't watched the remake) or one of them weird videos of groups that go to a mall suddenly brake out into dance. Maybe suppose to be happy idk

Marko has the skill to communicate emotions with his voice alone, no need for words. If he used another language other than English I would have felt the same emotions. Its just incredible. And I'm blown away by that piano.

This has to be one of the most beautiful pieces of music I've ever had the joy of listening to. It is simply stunning, that voice, the loneliness of the piano as the one and only instrument. I cannot stop listening to this. This is pure audio gold, timeless, powerful, gentle, lonely yet filled with love of another, acceptance of the things none of us can avoid and the grace and agony in which it is endured

The studio version of this song, I confess, never did anything for me. But this is very well done and a keeper.

The sound on theese Alexander Theatre Sessions recordings are just jaw-dropping! And I listen on a pair of old low quality Qln speakers. But it sounds so crisp and clear, every little detail. It's like I was next to the stage listening live.

Well, and clearly the video and audio are not done at the same time. I'd love to know if the audio is done there on stage or elsewhere (my guess is elsewhere) but it's pretty obvious in this one that Marko is just lip syncing.
@@dv2962 What makes you think that? What would be the point of recording in this setting then? The beautiful surroundings? I don't think the reverb that is clearly audible throughout the track has been added in post.
@@clayman1980 Watch Marko's lips, he clearly is lip syncing. 2:42 ish. Yes, the setting is beautiful, why not film there? Would not be as artful filming in a studio. I had wondered if he was lip syncing all of these... there's just something about seeing someone actually sing versus seeing them lip sync. It can be a subtle difference sometimes... some ppl are very good at the illusion. And with Marko, it's often hard to tell. In the end, it doesn't particularly matter where the audio has been captured. Perhaps some of the filming is done after the audio is done to get better shots. We'll likely never know.
The song is for my mother who unfortunately passed away unexpectedly in May this year.

The thought of how this masterpiece of a band is such underrated makes me cry. I found about POTF for about 3 years ago. Since then none of my days can be complete without me listening to their music every day. They are unique and talented and the lyrics just amazing in each song. All of this makes their music piece of art.
You guys never fail to highlight an already beautiful song in a way, that it ends up so heart-wrenching and full of emotions, that it feels like your heart wants to explode. The atmosphere created by the piano, the voice - so simple, yet so unique and powerful, the empty Theatre in the background that gives even more chills with the lyrics somehow, paints a picture so colorful and clear that I could almost see "the Angel dance up on the balcony". Definitely my favorite version of the Alexander Sessions so far. Very, very curious if you can top this one after all. But somehow the Angel on my shoulder has no doubt you will ;-)
Your voice is like honey, sometimes soft and velvety, it flows like molten amber, but if you apply it to a wound, it will burn and heal at the same time! thank you for it! All your songs are beautiful. Every of them is unique and special, and it's amazing. Some songs need to be listen again and again, because they are becaming more close and clear. It's hard to explain... but some songs concide with me personal and very close not after first listening. And it's beautiful. "Angel" is one of these songs. I loved this song before, it's very poetic and strong, but today, after this acoustic version this song became something special for my heart.
