Poets of the Fall are the reason why The Remedy Games can never truly be horror to me because, just as my courage falters, one of their bangers come on, and my spirit bolstered to the point that no monster can terrify me. The greatest enemy of fear is a metal ballad sung with passion.
And that my friend, is the power of music.

Even in AW1 you could see her fear. She was the lady of the fading light. You can also mention her love for Tom. It's a longer debate. She a was a fun boss. Her darkness is understandable from my point of view.
I know how you feel, bro. But I think that only the protagonists must have plot armor of some kind. Cynthia was great, but a nice candidate for disposal. I wonder if Thor and or Odin are going to survive the sequels.

Same man, when I realised Cynthia got Taken, I truely felt the impact of the horror story unfolding... it has consumed so many victims over the course of the tale.
But it felt great to save old Tor :D So there was a silver lining

Just finished playing Alan Wake 2. It's truly a beautiful game and love it more because of its soundtracks !
Beautiful, horrific, mind-bending, harsh and unbelievably hopeful...all these can be said of Alan Wake II. And the music haunts you long after you hit the Final Draft's ending.
Like they did back in 2010 with the first Alan Wake, this guys are still the best

My favorite part about Remedy games is their master over audio and visual. The sound going from a janky jukebox to a beautiful all encompassing melody as you step outside was beyond beautiful

To be fair, the song was never made to be released. Tor regretted that his actions pushed his daughter Freya away, causing her to run away after what happened to Saga's father. He wanted to apologize to her, but he never got that chance. So he wrote Anger's Remorse since he would never be able to properly apologize to the daughter he had hurt with his actions
And in the end, the song was heard by the one person who was ment to hear it: Freya's daughter, Saga
Months later and this still holds as my favorite song in the game. Carries so much weight like damn. Pierce my soul why don't ya.
The lyrics hit so hard, and coupled with the vocals make for an absolute powerhouse of a song. Remedy/Poets of the Fall is such a fantastic combination, thank you so much for giving us Old Gods of Asgard!
All of the songs written for this game are so damn good and go above and beyond just reflecting the game and its characters. The chorus to this song in particular is so poignant: "for in the twilight of my years, I'm nothing but anger's remorse" is just a great lyric.
@@lolusuck386 Yeah if Sam Lake where to ever get tired of making video games, he could probably make a pretty good career out of song writing, since he had a hand in the lyrics to all of the Old Gods songs.
I just finished AW2 and you released the video. Oh my gosh guys, what a mind blowing journey through the night, yet my heart aches for Alan. He had to be his own story’s hero and villain. Anyway what a SPIRAL/ride.
And ofc it wouldn’t be the same without such music. Hoping to see MORE of Poets/Old Gods in the future.

This song has two versions, one of them with a hidden message (the lyrics going backwards during the instrumental break) and with different lyrics in the chorus and the third verse. That's why many people thought the lyrics in the Mind Place version were wrong

I literally love the moment when Saga stepped outside to face the overlaps, the jukebox song suddenly became background song.
Yea they should’ve done something to delay you… like put enemies and disable the overlap for 30 seconds
The mixing and mastering on this band as well as the way they use background instruments is honestly unbelievable. There's such an insane clarity to these, it's so easy to pick out little elements in the background without them taking over too much.
It's just right, just perfect.
It probably helps they mix and master their own music. They have mastered the craft.

anger's remorse is such a power phrase, and it is perfectly weaved in the context of the story
I know a lot of people are going to consider heresy, but I like Anger's Remorse more than Herald of Darkness and Dark Ocean Summoning. I mean, all 3 are amazing and all of them are on constant repeat, is just that this one resonate a lot with me, not in the lyrics necessarily, but on the feeling and emotion, the sensation, the atmosphere of the song, idk if it makes sense, it hard to explain
No heresy, friend...we all have our preferences. And Anger's Remorse carries the weight of a lifetime of regret in its melody and lyrics.
The soundtrack is always pretty good for all of the Alan Wake games- I still listen to Balance Slays The Demon from time to time!

I think out of the three songs released this one is my favourite, love the lyrics and the intensity of it.
They're all so great. Herald of Darkness is the greatest moment ever in a Remedy game, this song is my favorite lyrically, and Dark Ocean Summoning has the hardest riffs. I can't pick a favorite.

Just when I thought I was starting to listen to Dark Ocean Summoning too much, you deliver another banger.
One of my favorite things about Alan Wake one was the amazing soundtrack, due in no small part to the contributions from Gods of Asgard / Poets of the fall. When I heard Alan Wake II was coming out, I was worried the soundtrack wouldn't measure up to the previous game. . .but I am SO proud to say not only was I completely wrong, but Alan Wake 2's soundtrack actually exceeded everything the original games soundtrack did so well.
Standout hits like this very song stay with you long after the credits roll.
The vocals and instrumental arrangements these guys put together here are absolutely flawless.
When I heard this in the game at the first time, I naturally got goosebumps. It's so sad and beautiful! These new songs have deep tragic nature, but give so much light and hope.

Bravo again Old Gods! This piece hits so hard. It plays right after the chapter of the rescue of Thor in Cynthia's overlap. He talked about how he regretted the way treating daughter Freya, detest? of her husband, driving his daughter away. And now his grandchild and her family is put in danger and paying the price.
Yet spoilers, the god brothers finally took their senses seriously and contribute their last thundering powers to save Saga. A prodigal who returns is more precious than gold. In Chinese, 浪子回头金不换

It's great how the songs in the game come out little by little. This song reminds me of The Game because of the pale horse. I feel like it's kind of a negative continuation of that song and and a nice reference from you towards your fans how both bands.
If Freya Anderson heard this, I think there's a strong chance she would've forgiven Tor.

But Saga, she's delighted to have family, a grandfather she never knew. Anger's Remorse is the mourning of a lost connection, and it takes this earnestness, this regret poured into the record The Old Gods never sold. So of course they'd dive in straight after.

Alan Wake 2 spoilers (about Saga's parents):
These lyrics are another evidence that Mr. Door is Saga's father. This song exists as a ritual to let Saga reach an Overlap, and have a glimpse of the Dark Place, where Mr. Door is. As it says:
"Dive through the dark
To find the light on the other side
You will find him there
The piece you are missing
The man I drove away".
I believe Tor's referring to her father here, the one he drove away. The whole song is called Anger's remorse because he regrets that single episode especially.
Moreover, Mr. Door also said he is in the Dark Place looking for someone he cares about, and that someone only ended up there because Alan wrote them into the story. It all connects! :)
Even if I agree with that reading, it should be mentioned that Tor could refer to himself as well.
"The man I drove away", I mean, he drove himself away by being a bad father to Freya and more.
Even if I do think that verse refers to Mr. Door.
Maybe DLC plans, maybe Alan Wake 3... who knows? 🤷🏻♂️
