Hi Davie, I like the look of your variant pattern and have tied 2 Olive Panama flies ready to give them a go… Looking forward to fishing this weekend 😀👍best regards, Wayne
Another great fly and beautifully tied
With all the things going on recently watching your videos is a wonderful way to find relief from the end of the day. Thank you so much.
Lovely tying Davie
A lovely looking fly Davie. I love the wings. Many thanks for sharing.
EXCELLENT pattern which will promptly be added to my fly box. Thanks for the new pattern my friend. L 👍🎣👍
Thanks for the excellence in workmanship and explanation of the materiels. Always in good form. 🐓
It's always a joy to watch you tying a fly. Thank you
I find a beautiful fly very attractive, I will try it this season for sure it must be very effective, thanks Davie for your teachings ...
Amazing fly Mr. Davie it's very pretty looking. It looks like it should be on display in a glass case than fished.
I must say Davie, with few notable exceptions of course, after watching you tie it is actually PAINFUL to watch other tiers techniques. Thanks for spoiling me ! L 👍👍
Another awesome fly. Davie you are a master tyer...
Very nice fly.Tanks Davie 🤩
And Davie nails it again..... a bit Catskill, a bit Spinner, a bit Nymph and it’s a dry! Superb! I’ll have a try but I don’t expect mine to look much like yours on the first attempt! lol. Thank you for another one dude.
That is a Beautiful Fly!!.. You make Fly Tying look so easy. But, I know different. I have Learned so much from you. Thanks for Sharing !!! Please keep the ALSOME Vedio's coming !! .. Thanks and be SAFE !!!
There it is! Thank you. It’s a good day to tie, too windy to go out on the Bay in my little boat to chase striped bass.
You are an inspiration.
👍wow!
I used something similar in fast waters in mountain rivers.
Thanks for this beauty.
Ciao
Davey, I would love to see your tying desk and stash of materials. Love your easy way of tying!!!
Great fly sir! As you said, it's a very popular fly here in France, especially in the end of the afternoon, because it's easy to see. Thanks for this mastery piece of work. Regards from France!
Sweet pattern. Next years flys to be used. I'm excited to show this off for Grandsons and Sons tying day November 27. You are the master tyer. Thank you for another perfect fly.
You keep surprising me Davie. I've never heard of that fly , but a lovely fly.
Loved the tutorial Davie. I will certainly tie and try this fly on my wee loch. Cheers Big Davie
Nice looking fly, Im sure that would work well. Will give it a go. Cheers Davie
Very nice tie thanks for sharing
Nice I can see a may fly pattern in there with pheasant tail🧐
Its super beautiful. Reminds me of the Delaware Adams. The last time I tried to fish one it twisted the absolute hell out of my leader and tippet. I'll have to have a try at fishing this pattern and see what happens. Beautiful fly Davie, be well, from NY.
A killer in summer on fast clear waters....
Tested in a lots of rivers between Austrian, Italy, and Slovenia, I will never get out without it 8 10 12 size
I use a very similar fly for almost 20 years for brown trout and especially grayling. But I tie it with a yellow floss body. I saw such fly from one Italian fly fisherman on video cassette. It floats as an aircraft carrier. I will try your pattern with raffia body next year.
Nice job have to try this out...
I haven’t dropped in for a while. My apologies. How is the world’s finest fly tyer doing? Staying safe and is healthy I pray. Cheers Davie!
Very nice :) 😃
Beautiful!
This pattern may not be intended for beginners. But even for them (me too) it is a pleasure to look at and yet try.
You get alone and twist a few...some quills and a few duns, hairwings, EHC's and a squad of parachutes with extended abdomens....you think to yourself "...not too bad, after the warmups, at least...Oh, Davie just uploaded..." and BANG! you are told the absolute truth without a word spoken to you and without so much as a glance at the half full box a foot away from your elbow...you mutter and deny, quietly though...eventually grin and shake your head..."...alright, may as well watch him tie a salmon fly...." and off you go...
Hello, very nice classic model, which floats well but whose main defect is to twist the leaders, especially when fishing fine (12/100 for example) but very involved during outbreaks (which have become rare) of Mayflies.
What an attractive & interesting fly. In the US, I haven’t heard of Panama style flies. Is it supposed to be an attractor? The only double wing insects that I can think of for fly fishing are stoneflies or dragonflies, but this fly doesn’t seem like either. It looks mostly like a dry fly but also uses partridge hackle, which I associate with wet flies.
Cracking looking fly , i will tye some up the noo , cheers davie atb.
My night sorted cheers davie
Great looking fly mate. The big ole browns would murder that one for sure. Can you tie them in smaller sizes and other colours? Thanks for sharing another great pattern with us all. Best Regards, Ken 🎣🐜😊
Hi Ken,
Yes you could tye it smaller which I'm sure would fish really well..I'm glad you liked it..
All the very best Davie

Davie, your flies are as always beautiful. Your instructional technique surpasses your piers by leaps and bounds. How long have you been tying flies? :-)
Hi Jurgen,
I started tying flies in February 1983 as I remember it really well and I have be honest I am still learning which makes tying flies a pleasure even after all these years..I am glad you enjoy the videos and thank you very much for the kind words which mean a lot to me..
All the very best Davie

I tied my first fly in June 1977 just after I finished my basic training for the Canadian Navy. I actually caught a grille with this fly and hooked into a salmon for about 2 minutes. The fly was supposed to be a Black Ghost for which I got the pattern by hearsay from lying fishermen who at that time would not even show me the actual fly. As a result, my fly only resembled a black ghost in length and was very ugly. You would have laughed if you'd have seen it. But because I caught a fish with it I was hooked on fly tying ever since. The location was the Renous river about 300 yds up from where it drains into the SW Miramichi river. Even though my fly tying skills have vastly improved they pale in comparison to yours. The more you tie the more you learn is so very true. :-)
👍👍
