The dial and case look so good. The bezel, tho... Not so bad as the product pictures, but just a little off. The Ivory dial one is an "almost" but it's impossible not to think about how good these would look with the steel bezel of the Mako Sport, or two-tone ones with semi-matching colors like the Mako 3. With a bezel like that, I think these watches would be a sure thing.
I wish watch manufacturers would use at least a dark edge on the hands on their white dial watches! I have a couple & the hands just wash out. I’m tired of taking my watches apart & highlighting the edges with a marker pen!😵💫🤣
6:22 Epson are not Seiko Watch's parent company. "Seiko Epson was one of the major companies in the Seiko Group, but is neither a subsidiary nor an affiliate of Seiko Group Corporation." Seiko Epson and Seiko Group have entirely separate shareholdings on the Tokyo stock exchange, with completely separate corporate structures and boards etc.
I think the need to let light through to the solar cells is what prevents the dials from having dark, saturated colors. White/ivory dials don't suffer.
It's funny, I feel exactly the same about the colors and like the white dial combination the most. The Makos are a quite safe bet regarding looks and they are reasonably sized. I recently got my first Mako, which to my taste looks even nicer than the white one here, it is a quite recent model with automatic movements and purple dial (Ref. RA-AC0Q07V10B).
I guess it is transparent dial with a white paper underneath.. i like the blue and green.. a bit big for my liking. But l like them. Maybe the blue is the best.
I rather like the ivory dial but i wish it had dark coloured hands to stand out against the dial, not enough contrast for me. Agree the bezels are a weak point colour wise.
I can't stil wrap my head around the fact that sub 100$ chinese watches destroy these in finishing and material looks, it's a shame these big brands spend less everyday on the making of their watches
Now we need them to do what a ton of people have been asking and make a 38mm version
orient mako 40
Despite what you say, I think they look quite good on you! The lighter bezel colour shrinks the watch visually.
Wouod love if Orient gors the Citizen route and make more solar watches!

The ivory with darker hands for better contrast
How on earth would you put the solar panel in a rotating bezel?
lol
Like a turret on a tank
Magnets
I think he was thinking chaptering when he said bezel. Just a guess
I wonder if all the mod parts like bracelets or bezels fit this mako?

I quite like that denim blue dial and taupe bezel combination
If they offered a black dial with coke and Pepsi or Batman bezels, I’d definitely buy one. I’m not keen on the pastel colors.

Would have been nice to have matching dial and bezel, or colour wheel contrast or even GMT two-tone.
I’m not feeling the strange colour combos orient have been introducing for the solar or updated makos. They all seem to clash with the bezels!
I bought a few days ago the ivory dial, it should arrive today. I paid $250

Really beautiful watches 😊
I found the hands on the ivory coloured dial difficult to see. Only this watch should have different but darker coloured hands to improve legibility.
Way too much time chatting over boxes. I know what a box looks like. Have everything unboxed and ready to display.
Typically the Solar cell is beneath the dial, at least that's how Citizen does it with their Eco-drive series.
Citizen recently came out with something called Eco drive ring which is a solar-powered chapter ring.

A quartz movement on a Ray II would be great!!
The lume on my ray 2 is stronger than my dresskx… I think it must the makos which have the weaker lume
They’re ok, but I had issue with Orient not giving extra links for bracelets, I have a big wrist. That came directly from Orient.
Personally, I'd buy the solar Mako chronograph instead and save around £50.
I've always been a fan of green dials however that green isn't doing it for me.
I may go to the Orient site an do a little more research.
Make a 38mm diver already Orient so I can buy one of your watches. Somebody needs to tell Orient smaller divers are in these days.
orient mako 40 check it out

Ok 👍🏻
Bro show watches in different lighting conditions.
The bezel is hideous. The dial colors don't do the watch any favors either.
you really dont need to shine UV light for 16 seconds to charge the lume
Too expensive and why not go for a 4 tick per second movement?
ffs stop with the 22mm lugs
Orient has these listed as 20mm lug width
