Thanks Leo, another great tutorial and just what I needed 👍
Great, thank you
This video is excellent even for people with lots of MIDI experience like myself. You always have to learn an app's UI for MIDI no matter who you are and this presents that clearly.
Thank you David, let me know if there is anything else I can help with…
This series gonna help every new AUM user.
Two and a half videos in this series watched (slow going, sometimes repetitive, but admittedly very thorough) - and we finally get to connect the keyboard to an app and make a sound! Finally 🎉😅
Great, thank you
I regularly use cubasis, not really got into AUM, but this has really helped me... 👍🏻
🙏 great video🙏
*Thank you for your wonderful videos, you can see that they were made with love!* 💜💚💛💚💜
Aw man, PERFECT timing! Thanks again!!!!
I use AUM ALL the time.. I still find new ways of connecting things.. seems endless as far as exploration.. it’s such a good app for that..
These tutorials will be essential viewing for anyone new to AUM.. they will open the doors.. Excellent series Leo!
Quick Tip: You can double tap the hamburger to the left of Electric (or Continua) and that will automatically connect the AUM keyboard to that app.. it only works for one app at a time though..
Great for a beginner like me. Thanks!
nice job so far! cant wait for more!
Thanks, more coming
Perfect 👌
Great video 👍
Great series! Thanks. I cannot find Tutorial Part 4. Perhaps it has not yet been published?
I always check the number of views before deciding where to focus next (as one of the parameters)… this series seems to be getting momentum so I will upload Part 4 shortly… Thank you Leo
This series is going to help me with midi, never mind AUM!
😊
Awesome🤜Quick question: how do you back up and restore projects from device to device without losing things along the way?
Have you already tried sessions?
@@soundformore ??
Still having trouble keeping one channel from controlling another channel through midi. Also the midi setting disappear after stopping app.
Can you please expand with an example? I may then be able to record a video for you…
How can I change quickly between presets in AUM? let's say I have three channels to find with three different instruments that have the sounds bass, piano, horns and they have their zones set. then for the next song I need to switch to a new set of presets that this time have strings, rhoads, oboe and they use some new instruments. If I have a set list of 40 songs is there a way to show a list of the 40 presets and just tap go to the next I'm ready to start the next song? I don't see anything in the manual about presets
I see, how about saving sessions within AUM and then load them directly from the files app?
Really enjoyed the tutorial as it is slow and very detailed and as a total newbie to music production a lot of other tutorials throw words at you I never heard of yet. So your explanations really make it feel easy and not so frustrating to get into it. So sad that this series does not continue. What would be helpful for me as a beginner is to get some steps of „download these apps to follow this tutorial“ to playfully understand the power of connecting midi apps to effects. Till tutorials (which for me would be more advanced) like what can I do if my instrument libraries are in ableton on my mac but i want to get the effects of apps in my ipad put on these instruments after I put together a melody in fugue machine on my ipad. Do I have to record it in ableton and send it to my ipad which means I kind of commit to the melody? This routing makes me totally confused.
Hi there, I do listen to feedback and add tutorials if subscribers ask, like the last one. The best way is to be specific with the request and I will follow through with a video … sometimes I do not continue with a series if I do not see interest, but this seems a good one to continue, so I will… regarding your question happy to help but I need a bit more details on the libraries and instruments please… format, any other AUv3 used, etc.
@@soundformore i guess it is also difficult to say when do interest occurs. So your videos you made 3years ago are important for me now. You’re just ahead of your time as most of creative people are!
Right now it is difficult to be specific as I don’t know the wording or vocabulary so good yet and I am still learning and fiddling around. I just wanted to share my frustration maybe a little bit of feeling stuck. I use ableton live on my mac with instruments from spitfire. I have an audio/midi interface (audio4c) and my ipad running aum and apps like fugue machine. I am trying to find out how to use this setup the best way and which apps are useful. I am interested in ambient sounds and music making.
@manmadeartists ok i understand now, i see if I can create an initial video for you, in return please subscribe, like, leave comments as it helps with growing the channel… :)
@manmadeartists what do you exactly want to do? Play some of the instruments you use in Ableton via Fugue Machine on the iPad?
How to resize Built in midi key? It’s too small
You cannot, you have to bring in another midi auv3
is there an easy way to octave transpose an instrument in a channel? or do I have to assign another midi only controller channel to do that?
Click on the hamburger menu on the left of the instrument, scroll down and adjust the transposition up or down by semitone… there are ways that needs other AUv3s…
@@soundformore ah! so easy! I was getting confused by midi routing and forgot about the hamburger! I haven't done an iPad setup in a few years and AUM is just fabulous, once you learn a few basics. terribly excited! : )
You are welcome
Just had a short out in my iPad power connection. There were multiple midi devices connected and was playing into it midi connected from a Casio ct61. It all seemed good and had found the way to play GR16 via midi using the Casio. The thing is that I don’t know how it would have received excess power unless it came from the Casio. I had other gadgets connected, 2 launchpads and a zoom H6. They were getting powered ok, everything was fine but then it zapped and pretty much everything blew or so it seemed but it’s only the droop down plug at the side of the iPad that went everything else is ok. Is this common? It’s got me wondering. It’s not really a heavier load than normal but now I am wondering does it matter if I use older usb cables in or out of usb 3 plugs and all.
I recommend you use USB 3 and also have a hub providing additional power.
USB 2.0: Provides a maximum current of 500 mA (milliamps), which translates to a maximum power output of 2.5 watts (W) at the standard voltage of 5 volts (V).
USB 3.0: Offers increased power delivery. It provides two levels of current depending on the device:
Low-power (one unit load) devices can draw up to 150 mA, which is an increase from the 100 mA of USB 2.0.
High-power (six unit loads) devices can utilize up to 900 mA, nearly doubling the power output to 4.5 W compared to USB 2.0.
This increased power delivery allows USB 3.0 to support more powerful devices like external hard drives and faster charging for compatible devices.
@@soundformore Actually exact same time your message came through just now I found a usb3 cable and plugged it into the droop pod that hangs off the side of the iPad. I thought that connection had blown but turns out it is ok if I use an actual usb3 cable. Thanks for saying that. Looks like it’s the old cable that got zapped. Everything seems to be,s fine.
@KandMe1 ok, glad it is ok
@@soundformore thinking to try using a high wattage 5v power brick. Or alternatively a fast high wat output phone charger as power source for the hub and step up the power to devices.
@KandMe1 I use my macbook air power charger directly on the hub :)… never had an issue but it depends on the load you have…
How do you record midi in AUM?
You need to use another app for that, like Helium or Atom Piano roll 2 etc.
Hello - I just discovered your videos. So helpful. I have a quick question. I am a windcontroller player and want to create two channels strips with two audiomodeling SWAM instruments. I’m thinking of using the same windcontroller but routing the sound from channel strip one through midi channel 1 and the sound from channel strip 2 through midi channel 2. Is there a way I can switch instruments using a foot switch to change from channel 1 to channel 2? If yes, can you show how?
Like muting and umuting a channel or more simultaneously?
@@soundformore Yes, basically so I elegantly switch from one instrument to another but using the same controller. Are you saying that i could mute one instrument and unmute the other at the same time with one press of a footswitch?
how to map yamaha dtx multi 12 drum pad?
thanks
To a midi processor? Which one?
for example I have tried to trigger samples from DRUM SESSION app(ios ipad )......or garageband's Drum
just want assign dtx multi 12 pads to specific drum samples in plugins as drum Session ......
I used to use addictive drums on windows laptop and it was simple (press learn and hit the desired pad on dtx),
but I recently bought ipad air ,so I am quite new to ios approach ...
AUM have a learn function but that works in conjunction with AUv3 plugins which drum session is not, although you can do something via IAA. Drum session receives midi notes to trigger samples, so you can program the Yamaha drum pads to send the correct midi note to trigger the correct samples via midi notes inside drum session. Moving forward there are other drum machines I would recommend if you want to use them inside AUM or GarageBand or Cubasis… of course Drum Session support IAA but that is going to be deprecated…AUM supports IAA and Ableton Link so you should be able to connect the Yamaha drum pad to an audio channel where you have drum session running inside AUM via IAA and for every midi note you have set in the hardware you need to set it inside drum session… what I am trying to say is that it is not as simple as clicking learn but that is because of drum session …
