  • This is how you map MIDI controllers to Audio Unit aka AUv3 plugins inside AUM Audio Mixer by Kymatica. I made this videos as quickly as I could as a response to all viewers wondering whether Modley could be MIDI controlled or not. I hope this helps!

      If an AUv3 has support for it then MIDI mappin it is always done in the same way. It does not matter if it’s an AUv3 synth, drum machine or effect. It’s really easy now that Jonathan has updated the midi learn process. One can even mad several controls to one knob if one wish it. Watch this video: ua-cam.com/video/BOWTmxgxbr0/v-deo.html

    Does AUM support NRPN 14 bit MIDI CCs? 128 steps are almost useless for nice Filtersweeps or tuning the iVCS3‘s Oscillators Frequency. Ape Matrix supports this (and iVCS3 also). 16384 vs 128 steps makes a huge difference! And it seems like we have to wait a couple of years for MIDI 2.0 to be implemented …

      I’d you’re referring to the KORG nano’s and the Bluetooth issue in iOS 13 then you’ll have to wait until it’s fixed. My large iPad is still on iOS 12 which is why it’s not having issues. The BLT iOS13 bug is something that has to be fixed from either Apple or KORG’s side.

    Quick question, if I’m running GarageBand in the background, can it be synced to external clock? GarageBand only has the ability to send MIDI clock, but it can’t receive clock from external devices.
    I need a way to have GarageBand sync to External Clock with the main goal being to get it to Run and Stop in sync with MIDI Clock that I’ll be sending externally.

    Does fader-to-track assignment always require that each track be assigned to unique channel? That is, if I have two channel strips assigned to same MIDI channel, can I have separate hardware faders for them? I can’t make that work so far, other than on screen.

    • @JakobHaq
      @JakobHaq  2 роки тому +1

      No. A Midi channel can have 128 different MIDI CC# (0-127). So both faders on the hardware device can be set to the same MIDI channel (1 for instance) and then one has to make sure that both faders are using unique MIDI CC Numbers, let’s use CC34 on one and CC35 on the other for instance. So in that case AUM fader one would be mapped to MIDI channel 1 using CC34. And the second fader in AUM would be mapped to MIDI channel 1 using CC35.
      Im not sure what’s happening in your setup exactly, but you could use a MIDI monitor to check what CC and MIDI channels your controller is set too. There’s a free MIDI monitor from Kai Aras that you can use apps.apple.com/se/app/midispy/id1444652196

    Hello Jakob, I own Audiobus 2 and 3. Can you recommend AUM alongside Audiobus? Also can you do a video about how you set every iOS device in the way showed in the video, so seeing the analyzer responding and also the wave display. I’m curious how you connect this.

    • @JakobHaq
      @JakobHaq  5 років тому +1

      I’m literally just using the Internal michrophone s on the other two iPad minis to read audio for my video. It’s a crude setup butI need a few more smaller sound interfaces for them so that I can output audio directly from the iPad Pro into the iPad minis to get a better reading, but right now I’ll have to rely on the internal michrophones. There’s not much to show in the setup for the minis. Just load up the apps and let them use the internal michrophone. 😅

    I got a bonus question for you man. So I have an old iPad 2, Still pretty functional. I also have a more recent iPad Pro 10.5. Here’s the question. Is it possible to use my iPad to as a midi controller for my iPad Pro. If so, how? And, what app would you recommend to midi controller surface app would you recommend for the iPad 2?
    CHEERS!

    • @JakobHaq
      @JakobHaq  5 років тому +3

      There are multiple ways of doing this however I haven’t looked into this that deeply. All I know for sure is how I do it. I use an app called Midi Designer Pro. It’s an app that allows one to design their own midi controller surfaces. I used it to make this for instance >>> ua-cam.com/video/Ur4gE1QvEHc/v-deo.html
      .
      Midi Designer Pro also has a neat function where you can make it “advertise” itself as a Bluetooth controller. So I turn that on and then I simply go to the other iDevice (iPad/iPhone) open up the KORG Bluetooth MIDI Connect app and it detects that connection. Form there I just choose it and then that connection is available to any other app that can receive a BLE or virtual midi connection.
      .
      As I mentioned above, there are more ways of doing it. It can be done over WiFi and there are even apps made specifically for this purpose. However I can’t speak on those options since I haven’t tested them out myself that much.
