I'm Anne of All Trades. In NASHVILLE, I have a woodworking, blacksmithing and fabrication shop, a selection of furry friends, and an organic farm. Whether you've got the knowledge, tools, time or space to do the things you've always wanted to do, everything is "figureoutable."

Hi! This was the third video I watched and I’ve really enjoyed them, the first was one of your wood carving videos. Just want to let you know a little something about dahlias though… you can only get exact replicas of the parent plant by harvesting the tubers. If you allow the seed pod from that same parent plant to dry and plant those seeds you will get a different and unique dahlia. It will be the only one like it because you grow other dahlias and don’t know what other flower it was pollinated from. For example I grow a dahlia named Caitlin’s Joy (type pompon, color pink) and I also grow a dahlia named Cafe Au Lait (type decorative/dinner plate, color creamy pink/coffee) let’s pretend those are the only two dahlias I grow. If I take the dried seeds from Caitlin’s Joy -those new baby dahlias could be orange, pink, white,yellow, purple, any color and will most likely be a single ray or some sort of collarette. They will look nothing like either of the parents, however those new plants will be gorgeous and draw in a lot of pollinators. If you have one you are fond of, you can allow it to grow, then collect its tubers and continue your very own dahlias. Tubers make clones and seeds make new varieties. Another tip is to allow the seed pods to mature on the plant. Thank you for sharing your knowledge, and I’ll pray for full recovery of your hand and fingers.
I had TOTALLY forgotten that fact about the seed saving with dahlias! In the past I’ve mainly done tuber collection for propagation. Now I’m even more excited to see what comes in next year!!

Making all that liquid fertilizer, composting, and such is awesome - I love it, and I'm not poopahing it or anything. But if you don't have time for it, you can get a bunch of rabbits, feed "em up good, and spread those cute little dry poop balls on just about anything you wanta grow, and it'll give you as pretty as you've ever seen. Awesome garden!

I’m not supposed to have frost for weeks still in SoCal … I lost a large amount my garden last night tho IT FROZE 😢 woke to black leaves all over the yard … ugh
Could you talk more about your asparagus? I think traditional wisdom is that they are very fragile and can't handle weed pressure

I'm a Washingtonian (Mom's from the Coast, Dad's from the Central/Wenatchee area), my husband is from NC and in the Army so we've lived in Tennessee (KY boarder for 5 years), then San Antonio Texas (3yrs), now the Central Texas Hill Country (3 yrs) and we're in the process of buying and rejuvenating a 100 yr old farmhouse. I've started a garden everywhere we've moved and it is SUCH A HURDLE to learn to grow in a new climate! You are one of the few youtubers I've heard even mention experience gardening in significantly different climates. Western WA gardening was late May to September. Texas gardening is September to June. Thank you for sharing your spectacular garden and knowledge with us! You are a treasure of tips and valuable tricks!! I miss people saying things like Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Rethink! My dad died from stomach cancer so we now grow pretty much just like you do, mulch and nutrient wise. Thank you for the encouragement as I have been overwhelmed thinking of trying to start yet another garden, again. Rhubarb Custard Pie is my favorite too!!

Here in the UK it's actually illegal to pick or dig up wild plants we can harvest fruits etc as long as we don't take everything or damage the plants and definitely definitely do Not remove leafmolde

Sungolds are so freaking good. They are by far my favorite small tomato. I really don't bother with anything else as far as small tomatoes anymore.

Oh Anne! To live in a climate where you can leave your tubers in the ground? !!!I have absolutely no idea how amazing that would be.! Every year my tuber collection grows by the dozens of lifting, washing, labeling, storing lugging and doing it all over again, starting about this time of year!

oooohhhh exciting for baby asparagus plants.they are very expensive to buy in Sydney Australia..I just cut my dead garlic flowers, so I can save the seed.😊
I hope your hand heals soon. Nice to see you out and about and doing more videos. I'm just over in M'boro . Yesterday and Saturday I did pretty much the same thing. I don't have a spot to over winter my peppers, so now my kitchen counter and compost bin are filled with the last of my peppers, tomatoes. The plastic covers for my raised beds came out to cover my beets, lettuce, cabbage and carrots. Have a Happy fall y'all and keep on growing.

My last strawberry this week. So super sweet. Hoping next season gives us a better harvest since this year it was all about setting up roots.
My great grandmother would put a lot of manure around her rhubarb plants every year. Apparently they are very heavy feeders.
I've known people who do put a lot of manure along plants and get great crops.

Loved "visiting" your garden. You have given me some great ideas. What is your trick with the figs? I get growth but no fruit. I had a groundhog this year, so it was a tough season.
