I've been eagerly awaiting proper reviews of the K1 Max. Thank you for this excellent review. I'm happy to see that Creality is fixing the initial issues of the K1. I print a lot of TPU on textured glass with no surface prep at all. I print the first layer at 75C then turn off the bed heater and the prints are well adhered but pop off easily and cleanly. I was a bit disappointed to see that the PEI surface on the K1 Max was damaged by TPU. Hopefully there will be a print surface that's better for TPU, or maybe a new TPU profile will fix the problem. The K1 Max seems to be improving rapidly but I'll still wait a couple of months in the hope of getting a more polished and debugged printer. There are many little details and they all need to work, but I'm optimistic. I've been without an enclosed 3D printer for a couple of years and I need to print some ABS. The K1 Max could be my one printer for all of my prints.
Maybe I was pulling too hard on the TPU which was the cause of the damage, but yeah if I was going to be doing a lot of TPU printing, then I would either use gluestick, or test out some other surfaces. It will be interesting to see how much it will improve with updates in the next few months. The LiDAR and camera are good hardware, but with good software is what it really needs to be great
I bought this printer in the hope that I would print abs without problems, but in fact everything turned out not quite well - after printing one coil, the native substrate of the table fell into disrepair, spots appeared on it to which the plastic stopped sticking, then error 2564 appeared, then 2564, then E0801, starting to understand and read the user reviews, I came to the conclusion that creality has released a raw product that has problems with the hotend, there are also problems with the extruder, glitches in management, and all this is of course being finalized in the process, but at the moment the user is incurring losses by buying a beautiful defect. Before that, there was ender 3 pro and it was a very positive and productive experience.
I'm not going to buy this printer yet, but I'm very glad that creality listens to users and corrects errors. I have 2 Ender 5s 1 printers and love both.
I was set on a Bambu P1S, but the K1 Max seemed like a better alternative. However, this comment section leaves me even more undecided. That said, I don't foresee myself using/needing the AMS of the BL, and that seems to be a big selling point for that machine. So, I'm leaning toward the K1 Max. Both options seem impressive.
They both are incredible machines, and you'll probably be happy with either. Creality has really improved the design since the original K1 printers got sent out, and they are sending out upgraded extruders which is awesome to see. They also said they are going to release the open source code in September which will be something Bambu will never do. That will make community mods and upgrades way better on the Creality system.
Other than an occasional clog my X1C carbon has been flawless - I’ve got 4 creality printers - none of them match the quality in the x1c in print quality or speed - creality is going to have to prove to me they are competitive and have mended their ways - I just want a printer that works - not one I have to fuss with constantly.
@@Derek-je6vg From what I have seen/read, the P1S is equal to the X1C in terms of speed and print quality. Being a total noob, not sure if the jump up to an X1C would be worth it for me, but I'd definitely consider it. I told myself I would order one next week, but maybe I should wait to see some more comparisons between the K1 Max and X1C come out. I definitely don't mind paying a little more if I can get more reliability and consistency.
I've had a few Creality printers over the years with varying success. I never thought I would be into multicolor printing based on previous experience doing filament swaps. The AMS has been a game changer for me since my painting skills are lacking. I've printed several multicolor signs and personalized coasters with minimal filament waste. It's really opened up the possibilities of what I can do.
I'm getting the max. I've had nothing but problems with bambu. Severe clog from day 1 to AMS cheap plastic part breaking within first month. It printed fine initially but quality got progressively worse as time went on. Worst part is how they force you to route everything through their cloud. You can't even update the firmware without connecting to the cloud and if you do you forfeit all your personal data along with granting access to the camera. It's fine if you want to print a bunch of junk from printables but if you're printing proprietary models for profit, RIP to your IP.
I'm impressed with how they have improved from the early K1 machines, and I hope they continue to make it right for people. The Bambu philosophy feels very restrictive and they want to be the only ones selling their proprietary parts
Quality getting progressively worse is on you because you didn't do the maintenance they recommend. The printer tells you when to do it and links you to a video in their wiki to show you how, so there is no excuse. A clog is due to filament not the printer and that happens to all printers. They don't even force you to use the cloud, you can run in LAN mode. None of your complaints are anybodies fault but your own.
I was scared after the first couple videos of the K1 that the K1 will be bad, so I was about to cancel my preorder but now that those K1 Max videos are overly positive I was calmed. I'm excited for my K1 Max
I tried this a while ago... its very hard to do since it takes so long for the stalk to cool enough when printed thick. But if anyone can do it, it's JJ
I've used a couple printers in the past but never had one. Got the K1 as my first printer and pretty happy with it overall. My only complaints are the Phone and Computer app that comes with it. feels like it was designed by the same people that made the Wish app. the program on the computer doesn't follow the same conventions as American programs when it comes to things like menu labels and stuff so it's a little weird but it's useable.
I have an Ender 5 plus and my roommate got the K1 max just a couple days ago. He lets me use it whenever I want if he isn't printing. This printer is amazing and I am absolutely getting one for myself and ditching the Ender 5 plus. Probably going to get a few K1 Maxs
That being said, I would like a higher quality camera, so an option to swap it would be awesome. I haven't used Creality Print much, I prefer prusaslicer and then importing the gcode via Creality Print, but I may make the switch as it's just so convenient
Yeah I wish companies would realize that a lot of people would love to upgrade to a high quality camera for amazing time lapses. I do think there is limiting factor of processing required, but a quality 1080p camera can take great timelapses
Just to let you know, activated charcoal only lasts 48 hrs unless you put it in a bag right away after use and as far as smoke and gasses you'd need a 6003 filter or better - it usually has a yellow tag or band on the filter. Hepa filter is for dust, molds, viruses, and bacteria, it DOES NOT trap gases.
I would love a K1 Max but refuse to buy anything more from Creality. They sold me a used, faulty printer without any tools, which I had to buy to assemble it. After contacting them they ignored me until I kept complaining, then they asked for a copy of my receipt and a photo of the serial number. Then they ignored me again, more complaints until they finally emailed me and all it said was "Sorry", that was it, they didn't offer any help to replace the printer. So I ended up with a useless printer which ended up being sold as spares. Really a very bad company.
Actual build volume P1P is 238x228x250, yes you can get the entire specified build volume with some modifications but then a couple functions that distinguish BL from other printers disappear and BL advises against such mod
It's just a little corner at the bottom left, which has been "greyed out" as printing area due the filament cutter. You can easily solve this by printing an adapter to lock it in place and re-configurate the build plate in the printer settings to use the full printing area. That filament cutter is only needed for color/filament changing when using the AMS. Something the K1 does not have. So you could actually lock it in place and configure the whole printing area when you do not have an AMS unit.
I thought one of the main benefits of this printer was that you wouldn't need supports for overhangs like the belly of the dinosaur. I also thought it was supposed to catch errors like that and pause. Does it fail in both regards?
I regret that I have but one thumbs up to give to this comment. It's insane that Chinese companies take open source software that people love, then rip it off and cripple it to make their own proprietary software. No user wants a manufacturer (or machine) specific crippled slicer. Just give us the profiles for the open source slicers we're already using. Stop stealing open source software and using it to try to force us into your proprietary ecosystem that you'll abandon as soon as you're on to your next printer.
I sucked it up and ordered K1 Max. Was initially undecided between P1P and K1. P1P crap screen, open, cloud. K1 small print size, no LIDAR and then I'd have to replace the extruder. P1S is basically P1P but closed and the price in EU not that far away from K1 Max. X1C too expensive for its print size. AMS I don't care about. So I figured I might as well get something that will last a long time. K1 Max. Creality while probably not as great quality as Bambu, they do have a huge following and will make K1 open source in September. This was a really, really hard choice. Thanks to Bambu Labs.
@@JJShankles It def seems that way, and I'm eager to pick it up. Just holding out a tad longer for the larger Bambu to go with the other i have, if not it doesn't happen soon, judging by your review ill be very pleased with the K1 Max. Thank you for another awesome video.
I think that it might be time to upgrade from my Ender 3 Pro pretty soon... 😏😏 Can anyone chime in on the likelihood of Creality coming up with an AMS equivalent? There are some things I'd like to print for which it would be super cool to have mixed materials. But at the same time, I can always find ways to attach the different materials mechanically, so that they can be replaced, anyway.
I have high hopes for the K1 and K1 max for me the Bambu closed cloud based system with sketchy privacy policy is a none starter. Anyone using a Bambu for commercial prototyping is insane, they basically take a copy of all your models.
@@blackoutblaze But it still sends pictures of the prints to the cloud unless you completely disable the cloud in which case you can't monitor your printer over the network. There is talk of a special version of the printer under development that doesn't need the cloud but no idea when or if that will be made available.
Have you done any max volumetric flow rate tests? Wondering if the K1 can get to the claimed 32mm3/s which is pretty high, even for PLA at super high temps with a big nozzle. Thank you for getting this review out so fast!
Hi JJ, Have you been able to view and/or edit any g-code files generated by the Creality Print slicer? It looks like Creality have created their own version of g-code for the K1/K1 Max. I can't view any of the slicer's output files in any g-code text viewer/editor, e.g. Notepad++. Cheers, Howard
My K1 max arrived with a twisted frame. So bad the lid or door will not close. So far, no response from creality. I think i just ate $1k based on these great UA-cam reviews. Thanks a lot.
For me, like you said, it's either K1 Max because of the volume or P1S Combo because of the AMS. I don't have money and room for both. 😢 I plan to print Cosplay stuff and also colorful toys, and lamps. That makes the decision hard.
Personally I don't like printing multi-color things. I tested it out a few times, but it makes everything so slow and it's annoying how much filament needs to be purged when swapping filaments. Both options are amazing printers though, and anyone would be happy with either
IMO the P1S is a better more premium machine. I also had the K1 and its seriously lacking in design and build quality in comparison. No nozzle wiper/poop shoot/filament cutter. no automatic belt tensioner and the belt path on the K1 is so bad they needed to use 9mm pulleys for 6mm belts. Furthermore the gaps in the panels mean i never saw more than 38C internal temp and im not sure if its just the K1 but there is no air filter. Also dont get me started about software, bambu is like a prusa, the creality is just a creality bro. If you dont care about doing some minor upgrades and changing to klipper then the K1 is honestly not that bad. But I returned my K1 as soon as i saw the P1S in person.
Thanks for the replies! 2 different opinions. 😱 I respect both! Goes to show the difficulty of my decision. Good thing I have time to think and do more research. 😊
Take a look at the Sovol SV04 IDEX. Yes, it is "only" two colors, but it produces much less waste. It's 300^3 in build volume and often below 500 bucks. Hope that Sovol brings an updates IDEX printer to their SV 04 with the improvements and Klipper from their latest SV 07 model!
@@hassosigbjoernson5738 The SV04 Just has so many more manual processes involved I would prefer the multicolored waste over having to manually align nozzles and set Z offset and tune input shaping and all that nonsense. Once you experience never having to tune, it's really hard to go back.
Do we need to pay the premium tier in creality cloud in order to watch remotely from the camera and control the print(pause & stop)? I can't find any definitive answer about that and although the app is a mess I want to check my prints when I'm outside.
I just downloaded the app to check, and the premium just includes some premium STL files, and their cloud slicer is faster maybe. In the normal app you can control the printer from anywhere, but the camera feed only works when your phone is on the same wifi as the printer. I turned off wifi on my phone and was still able to start prints, but the camera wouldn't load.
@JJShankles coming from a CR10 smart pro when I was able to remotely control, power off and have a look from work was gold. Saved me a couple of times and it was peace of mind . Excluding that feature from the K1 kinda beats the purpose. Hope the will add it in the future or at least open-source this thing to add it via klipper. Thank you for your time testing the app appreciate it!
@@JJShankles, no problem, just create a VPN to home and connect your phone while away to check prints from the camera. I know not everyone will be savvy enough to do that, but it's an option.
Don't know what you're doing but the P1P does NOT run input shaper calibration on each print. Only when you ASK it to do it. The delay time between "print" and "printing" has to do with the slower cpu performance of the P1P as it takes longer to decompress the uploaded file (though this improved dramatically with the current firmwares). But in NO way the delay on the P1P has ANYTHING to do with "doing input shaper" like you're stating.
@@JJShankles Again, no, not really. The ¨P1P does _not_ have the ability to do ANY flow calibrations automatically (no Lidar). It will ONLY do an input shaping test as part of the "Printer Calibration procedure" which you must start manually from _within the LCD panel_ and not as part of a _print job_. The ONLY thing a P1P can "calibrate" as part of the print job is "Bed Leveling" : That part will indeed "Vibrate", as Bambu uses tactile sensors underneath the bed for bed leveling on both the X and P series. The "vibrating" occurs when doing a Bed Level test, where every couple of measurement points, the bed will be "shaken up and down" momentarially to reset said sensors to a baisc correct non-triggered value. This means that I believe you are constantly running BED LEVELING before each printjob, and yes that takes time. But it also is _not_ necessary in my experience. Unless you changed your bed surface inbetween prints, conducted maintenance on the printer inbetween jobs or the new print job uses a significantly different bed temperature, there's zero need to redo bed level test for each print (and the machine allows you to choose to avoid doing that for each print). When not activated, the P1P calibrates NOTHING prior to each print, and the only time spend is doing the unpacking of each send print job, which does _not_ cause any "vibrations" either.
Hi JJ, Love you take on the K1 Max! Just subscribed! I'm on the fence in deciding to buy the K1 Max or X1C. Which one of the two printers would you purchase if you only had the option to get one? I'm trying to finalize my decision and your input would help! Thanks!
K1 max does not have a one piece frame, the top and bottom are one piece but the sides are not. It would be a very large casting to do all in one piece which would make it very costly to do.
@@schrodingerscat1863 I am pretty sure one reviewer claimed it was a one piece casting, I will attempt to find out where I saw this claim, thanks for your reply!
@@AndrewAHayes No it's not I have seen both printers up close and both have solid castings for the top and bottom of the frame but these are joined together with vertical extrusions.
Just got my K1 max and had to switch to Creality print. Has anyone figured out how to do a filament change mid print? in reality slicer it was easy but I cant find any post processing controls. Any help would be appreciated!
I have problems with the AI camera on my K1, it loses connection at the start of every print, but after disabling time lapses it works fine (almost always), also sometimes I get the error "not heating as expected" when the auxiliary fan turns on, I am still happy with my K1, but I hope the next updates will fix these problems.
Bambulab does not run full input shaping every print. It checks that things haven't changed and that belts are tight. Creality lacking that is just them missing in their haste to copy while lacking innovation.
Keep an eye on the website, they will have a special deal soon for existing K1 users where they basically give some of these things away for nothing at all. I believe, the camera, spare extruder, hotend AND a roll of filament for something like 2 bucks?
I bought a K1 Max, everything is pretty good. Software /Firmware needs some polish. But the main problem I have is the bed is very uneven, asking for a replacement from Creality.
A rep said on the Creality subreddit that they will at some point but right now they think it will overcomplicate customer support for the machines as many users will end up breaking off more than they can chew.
I got the k1 and honestly been very very disappointed. I get error 2507 all the time. The printing head smacks the corner every time it homes the x/y. The tube pops the top cover aswell. Should I return and get the bambulabs p1s? I plan to print nylon and carbon fiber nylon
Have you updated the firmware in the settings? If it is on the latest firmware and still giving you issues like that then you may have a dud, and I would return it.
They need to work on the slicer more than anything. The supports do WEIRD things, adding supports in area there isn't even anything being supported, and the scan for printer function needs to have a troubleshooting function so you can see where the issue is as to why it doesn't find anything. For instance, is it firewall? Is it router? Is there no printer to connect to (communicate with the app&website-cloud and see if it's offline there) etc. Just not finding anything is as helpful as turning the power breaker off and saying you can't find the right light switch.
Thank you for the great review, I am wondering if you could tell me the measurements of the glass lid, I want to create a new top for mine and have the design ready when it arrives, Thanks
Thanks JJ :) and thanks for the review! Makes me even more turn my anycubic chiron into a corexy and print a nice looking frame around it. I don't get it why creality makes so many mistakes right now. Lidar which is "ok", which is more an accessory then, closed firmware. Most importantly I don't get why they build a moving bed. Having the bed at the bottom constantly and a moving gantry reduces vibrations a lot. They should all follow a voron design imo.
Bought one. Printed a 100 mm part and it measures 99mm's. The holes wouldn't fit with the mating part. Finally got an email back from Creality. There is no method of calibrating this machine. So if you are printing a vase or a character it's great. If you need to print parts that have to fit together buy a different brand of printer
@@CapacitorCapacity It's possible to reduce it. At least on almost a 1000$ price point. I have seen 100000$ printer that's has it. So nobody is perfect. But they did nothing to combat it, as the vfa/belt marks is exactly the same as an cheapo ender3 series printer.
It looks like a pretty good machine hardware wise, too bad they intentionally cripple it by not allowing full access to Klipper/Fluidd and Moonraker to send prints from other slicers.
@@redkingrauri3769 yeah they have a locked limited version of klipper. You can jailbreak it though. But in September they are planning to release full open source version
Thanks. The still small XY print area is still small and forcing for the most part to use cloud to send print jobs. No way. If the Bambu had the same print area of the K1 Max, still would not consider/buy it. I currently have the Creality 5 Pro.
There are two main reasons why I don't buy a K1 over a P1P, 1. Creality cloud SUCKS, its so unsecure doesn't work that great etc. 2. The k1 doesn't have a multicolor option, and even if they came out with one for it. I think the AMS would work much better than it. The AMS just works so good! It is hands down, the best multicolor option on the market right now.
For two colors an IDEX system is way better due to much less waste! Also the AMS is a very pricy option, especially since many mod this thing because of the spool limitations (So you initially buy parts with that AMS that many don't use at the end). So it's not everything so shiny! But at least it is on the market! Other than a multi-toolhead option like the Prusa XL which is still not available (and even more expensive). Hope that Creality, Sovol and others do think about an alternative to that AMS, especially Sovol since they often respect and support the open source community.
@@JJShankles Check on prints when not by my computer and stop it if I need to or change speeds/airflow on the fly on occasion. Thats basically all I want it to do and it does the job.
@@JJShanklesI use the app mostly to check on it when I am away and I download the timelapses through there. I think the app is quite nice. I have a X1C but I could see people using it on their p1p if they don't like the screen. But its all personal preference!
@@hassosigbjoernson5738 I would say the main reason I think its so good is because the integration and the filament cutter. For this type of system where it has just one nozzle, being able to cut the tip is a really helpful thing. I had a mmu2s and I could never get a good print out of it because it would just keep failing because of the tips. Once you get the spools down, like I just use sunlu filament, it works like a charm. I've only had one failed print on the Bambu because of the poop chute clogging up, while I've had tons of failures with the mmu. I would say if you want to print lots of colors this is the best option. if you only print like 2 colors or print like pva or something a idex is great! And if you want to print with both multi material and color it looks like the prusa xl will be the option. But definitely ams is a great multicolor option.
Hopefully anther update will be soon as I’m my max it’s now crashing and buzzing at end of the axies when I click home, it won’t even allow me to move it digitally, so have to move it turned off
Doesn’t bambulab also have a stay out zone of the bed in lower left corner, because of cutter blade? Think stock it isn’t even 256x256x250, it is less because of the one corner.
Oh yeah I forgot about that. So it is 256x256x250 minus and 18x28mm square in the corner. Seems like a weird thing to print the wrong build volume on the front of every printer
Nice that they are making better quality printers. ❤ does the bed have a thermo fuse? Are they using a 3mm reverse bowden? I noticed the silver plaque, how do you have almost 200k subscribers already.🎉 Last time I looked you were around 50k😮
How do you skip calibration? I started the timer when I clicked send to the printer on the slicer, so I am including the super slow upload to cloud and download from cloud.
@@JJShankles when you uploading to the printer there’s a windows that pops up to uncheck AMS and flow calibration if you don’t want to use AMS or calibrate again, will just use previous one
The ABS print doesn't look great: some underextrusion or insufficient infill overlap. Not a huge deal, but it makes reviews better if you mention not only "honey". Still, likely, the best option for people with bambu allergy.
Nearly every review of this printer shows multi color print(s)... are those fake and implied but not actual? Everyone is gassing on about how awesome this printer is compared to the Bambu, but no one is talking about the white elephant in the room. That AMS of the Bambu printer that allows for multi-color and multi-material for the same print. How does this printer compare in that regard? Compare apples to apples not apples to oranges.
My K1 is the worst printer I ever bought. Have it for over two months now and effectively I have been printing for one week. 3 hotend replacements en now my extruder isn't extruding anymore. Biggest pile of junk ever...😢
But at the end of the day the quality of the print matters, I didn't see any comparison against Bambu. What I did see is all K1 prints came out with artifacts or unacceptable ugly.
Paid promotions are fine but don’t start comparing it with a better printer. The Bambu machines are BETTER and you just discredit yourself and make a mockery of your channel.
So another Bambulab clone but missing the finer points of usability, while also violating as many open source licenses as possible. Crummy company continues to be crummy. I really hope their half passed Bambulab clone attempt fails because as a company they do so many bad things I'd rather basically any other company succeed.
Bambu Lab also violates open source licensing, and they make it very difficult to print if you opt not to send your files to their Chinese server and sign away all your intellectual property rights to them - either fiddle with a tiny micro SD card inserted into the top of the display or print through the LAN but the dynamic IP address keeps changing and must be reentered frequently. The K1 series have a USB-A port on the front panel for a standard thumb drive and the static IP address is only entered once. Still, the Creality should have standard full featured Klipper and Fluidd.
@@Liberty4Ever This is simply incorrect. They are 100% compliant with the Prusa Slicer license, and we've no reason to believe they arent with their closed source firmware. As for intellectual rights, I have no idea why people keep saying this. Like, where is this conspiracy coming from? I feel like people just keep making things up about Bambulab and it does them a great disservice given they are being the change in China that people have been wanting to see. They bring innovation and honor licenses and people hate them for it. Like I totally get not liking the cloud thing, but the other accusations are wild.
Heard everything i needed to hear in the first 4 minutes....whats the point of haveing over a million points on the leveling if it doesnt give you a perfect first layer? Lol junk as usual with creality

@@Derek-je6vg I'm not buying any hardware that REQUIRES a login.
Thanks for sharing, happy K1 user here! Hope they will unlock it so we can actually tweak it and use other slicers (orca etc) properly with it!
same!
Thought you can use whatever slicer you want with it
I'm getting the max.
I'm having nothing but trouble on my regular K1 :(
@@ndenijs you probably got the one before the updates.
I'm impressed with how they have improved from the early K1 machines, and I hope they continue to make it right for people.
The Bambu philosophy feels very restrictive and they want to be the only ones selling their proprietary parts
You can Hotspot from a phone to run firmware update, then run lan or SD card print after that.
It's really cool that Creality has continued to work on the design, and they made some really important changes to make a better K1 Max
Day 4 of asking you to use the 1.8 mm nozzle to print the ballon no support challenge
The phone apps are typical Chinese. There are many apps like that from companies from 🇨🇳. I think it's an easy to develop UI.
Great review JJ. You’ve come a long way from when I first started watching with all those AnyCubic Mega S vids. 🎉
Thanks! It has been a crazy amount of growth, but still having fun messing with printers!
Yes, better review, but all of you influencers are currently being brutally beaten by a 14 year old little girl. must be embarrassing!
Just ordered a K1 Max and used the code. Thanks dude!!
I've really loved having one. It has been running non-stop since I unboxed it!
I just got my K1 and it has the shiny extruder lever, but it has a really solid actuation and locks in place very firmly.
That's good to hear! I heard they have been working on it since release, so any improvement is a good thing
Thank you very much for sharing all the useful infos. Got no clue which to purchase for my little one but bought K1 Max after watching your video.
Great review, Ordered mine! I’m excited😊
I've loved using this printer. I think you'll love it
I would love a K1 Max but refuse to buy anything more from Creality.
Okay. Watching this video, I think I am sold on the K1 Max, and I will be picking one up. Thanks appreciate the Reviews!
Why put the spool holder on the back? Such a rubbish place to have to get to
I thought one of the main benefits of this printer was that you wouldn't need supports for overhangs like the belly of the dinosaur. I also thought it was supposed to catch errors like that and pause. Does it fail in both regards?
Nice Review!
I'd like to see...
1. Full Klipper access from the factory.
2. Gwneric profiles for Cura & Prusa Slicer
Today I saw a message from creality that at the beginning of September there will be full access to the source code of K1 and K1 max
I’m in the same boat
been waiting for your review on this badboy
Thanks! It is an impressive printer
@@JJShankles It def seems that way, and I'm eager to pick it up. Just holding out a tad longer for the larger Bambu to go with the other i have, if not it doesn't happen soon, judging by your review ill be very pleased with the K1 Max. Thank you for another awesome video.
Bad boy 😂 … look at the garbage prints. The abs looks AWFUL.
Is multicolour printing possible on K1 max?
I have high hopes for the K1 and K1 max for me the Bambu closed cloud based system with sketchy privacy policy is a none starter. Anyone using a Bambu for commercial prototyping is insane, they basically take a copy of all your models.
If you use the SD card slot on the BL printers, it bypasses the cloud
@@blackoutblaze But it still sends pictures of the prints to the cloud unless you completely disable the cloud in which case you can't monitor your printer over the network. There is talk of a special version of the printer under development that doesn't need the cloud but no idea when or if that will be made available.
@@schrodingerscat1863 My point still remains, turn off cloud and print from sd card to completely avoid losing ip
after your hot end upgrades for th cht volcano nozzle, how fast did the printer go for you?
Have you done any max volumetric flow rate tests? Wondering if the K1 can get to the claimed 32mm3/s which is pretty high, even for PLA at super high temps with a big nozzle. Thank you for getting this review out so fast!
Is there anyway you could go over asa settings I have the regular k1 and I’m nervous to print in asa
Hi JJ,
Have you been able to view and/or edit any g-code files generated by the Creality Print slicer?
It looks like Creality have created their own version of g-code for the K1/K1 Max. I can't view any of the slicer's output files in any g-code text viewer/editor, e.g. Notepad++.
Cheers,
Howard
wait. the lady at the store told me toady that the K1 MAX CANT print two colors in one print, only one color??
or do i just switch color mid print?
It looks really nice JJ! I still am wondering what they did to the extruder....
I might have to be the one to open it up. Haha
Really interesting review 💪
Thanks!
Hi JJ, just wondering are you using creality slicer with the k1 max? If not do you have any links for profiles?
Yes I'm just using the Creality Slicer. It makes it easier to send the prints to the printer so I've stuck with it
Do we need to pay the premium tier in creality cloud in order to watch remotely from the camera and control the print(pause & stop)?
What about K1C? I don't need the size of K1 Max, so have the problems with K1 been resolved that I read on the comments?
Don't know what you're doing but the P1P does NOT run input shaper calibration on each print. Only when you ASK it to do it. The delay time between "print" and "printing" has to do with the slower cpu performance of the P1P as it takes longer to decompress the uploaded file (though this improved dramatically with the current firmwares). But in NO way the delay on the P1P has ANYTHING to do with "doing input shaper" like you're stating.
Fine, but it does a lot of vibrating and some sort of calibration that takes a really long time.
Thanks!
That’s exactly what I’m trying to decide on as well
How long did those vase models take to print on the K1 Max?
On the K1 Max right door frame there seems to be a join seam in the frame just below the top corner, is this no longer a solid cast frame?
K1 max does not have a one piece frame, the top and bottom are one piece but the sides are not. It would be a very large casting to do all in one piece which would make it very costly to do.
The K1 is the same way where the top and bottom are two solid cast parts then 4 separate arm to hold it up.
Trying to figure out if it’s worth spending the extra money for the Bambu x1c over the K1 max
Bambulab does not run full input shaping every print. It checks that things haven't changed and that belts are tight.
Creality lacking that is just them missing in their haste to copy while lacking innovation.
Thank you for the review. Since the k1 uses Klipper, are we able to login to it via Mainsail or Fluidd
Why are you comparing the K1 Max to the P1P? Do you not have an X1C? Seems like a silly comparison to me. 😂
Yeah it's just the only Bambu printer I have, so I can't fully compare with the X1C
X1C is also way more expensive while the P1P is similarly priced
@@nathanthecollector429 Yes, the price difference in dollars is even more when you add the VAT here in the EU.
Would you reccoment buying the AI camera and/or the Lidar for my K1?
The camera is an easy Yes.
The Lidar will depend on what price it will be
Keep an eye on the website, they will have a special deal soon for existing K1 users where they basically give some of these things away for nothing at all. I believe, the camera, spare extruder, hotend AND a roll of filament for something like 2 bucks?
@@JJShankles Thx.
Looking to get either this K1 Max or Flashforge AD5M Pro, which one would you recommend?
Do you maybe have a video showing the slicer and the camera of the new model?
Can you consistently print at high Temps on the k1 max. Like cfpetg all the time?
I bought a K1 Max, everything is pretty good. Software /Firmware needs some polish. But the main problem I have is the bed is very uneven, asking for a replacement from Creality.
Will they open the software and comply with the GPL?
My guess is they will, they did with the Sonic Pad, took them a little while to do it but they finally did
A rep said on the Creality subreddit that they will at some point but right now they think it will overcomplicate customer support for the machines as many users will end up breaking off more than they can chew.
Anyone see a value of the CREALITY Sonic pad with a K1/K1max?
Just ordered the K1 Max off Amazon for $554, including a 4 pack of PLA. Have they fixed the issues found with since this video was made?
You got the max for $554?
I’m seeing it for $743 on Amazon
I got the k1 and honestly been very very disappointed. I get error 2507 all the time. The printing head smacks the corner every time it homes the x/y. The tube pops the top cover aswell. Should I return and get the bambulabs p1s? I plan to print nylon and carbon fiber nylon
Have you updated the firmware in the settings? If it is on the latest firmware and still giving you issues like that then you may have a dud, and I would return it.
@@JJShankles yeah I updated it. Updating was a breeze, ill give them that
I've never bought into the "will get better" or "will provide update" stuff. Review the product for what it is, not for what is promised to be.

They should all follow a voron design imo.
does it support dual print heads?
Bought one. Printed a 100 mm part and it measures 99mm's. The holes wouldn't fit with the mating part. Finally got an email back from Creality. There is no method of calibrating this machine. So if you are printing a vase or a character it's great. If you need to print parts that have to fit together buy a different brand of printer
I see they did not solve the VFA problems. For this price I was hoping Creality did more work in that front.
It isn't VFA it is the polygon effect from belt driven kinematics. Not nearly as simple to "solve."
The one way to reduce is use quality motor
It looks like a pretty good machine hardware wise, too bad they intentionally cripple it by not allowing full access to Klipper/Fluidd and Moonraker to send prints from other slicers.
They want you to buy their klipper Sonic Pad for that.

Thanks. The still small XY print area is still small and forcing for the most part to use cloud to send print jobs. No way. If the Bambu had the same print area of the K1 Max, still would not consider/buy it. I currently have the Creality 5 Pro.
did creality remove the ads from their handy app? KEKW
I don't really use the apps anyways, but what do you use the bambu app for? It just feels like I can't do much on it, so I never really open it up.
@@JJShankles That's disappointing, so you lose build volume on all 3 axes
Then the build volume of a P1S is next comparable to a K1.
no filament sensor??
Nice that they are making better quality printers. ❤ does the bed have a thermo fuse? Are they using a 3mm reverse bowden? I noticed the silver plaque, how do you have almost 200k subscribers already.🎉 Last time I looked you were around 50k😮
The original k1 has 350W rated power and k1 max has 1000W. What is their such a massive increase in power consumption
I really liked your review. It was honest and clear.
P1P doesn't take 8 minutes to calibrate, its around 5 and it is optional.
How do you skip calibration? I started the timer when I clicked send to the printer on the slicer, so I am including the super slow upload to cloud and download from cloud.

A shame it is still subject to Creality's poor support and quality,
Heard everything i needed to hear in the first 4 minutes....whats the point of haveing over a million points on the leveling if it doesnt give you a perfect first layer? Lol junk as usual with creality
