You have no idea how I love classic diners like this. As an European I've only seen one restaurant in this style. Sadly it was Mcdonalds and it got rebuilt into modern style. I still miss the fake jukebox and pink cadillac hood. It was a small piece of America in eastern Europe. I wish I could travel around the States and dine in restaurants like these.
Seeing that I was born in 1935, my experiences with diners came from the 1940's and 50's when most everyone didn't have 2 NICKLES to rub together. The average person ate at home and when we did venture out to get something to eat already cooked, we always ended-up at a dinner where the food was cheap and good and the owners were the best kind of people you'ld ever want to meet. The best cup of coffee was only 5 CENTS and hot dogs on a buttered roll were 15 to 20 CENTS. My favorites were the Salisbury Steak with mashed potatoes, gravy and green beans and the Hot turkey sandwich W / mashed potatoes, gravy, corn and cranberry sauce. I think the price was around 99 cents to $1.25. GOD, please bring those days back again. I loved them.
If you like the old time style check out the 50's grill in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota. They have great theming including waitresses in poodle skirts. Not to mention a menu that's all made from scratch.
Woah wait a second. When I was really young I had a super vivid dream of a diner that looked nearly EXACTLY LIKE THAT. it was so vivid I remember it to this day. I thought this place never existed, just a fragment of my imagination. This is spooky Only problem was I had somehow mixed it with space aliens or something like that. (Edited for spelling)
I've always wanted to visit this diner but I've never had the chance to stop in. I always pass by it when we're going on our annual family road trip up to Brainerd. Thanks for making this video and keep up the excellent work.
So bummed we didn't run into you! It would be fun to see you film the location of the 90's movie Catch Me if You Can. That was filmed at Apollo and Cathedral in St.Cloud.
If you plan on spending more time in the St. Cloud area at all I would suggest Val’s. Not a diner, but really good, and the quarry park if you like swimming
Very cool restaurant. Reminds me of Fog City Diner in San Francisco, check it out if you are ever there. Warning tho...its not exactly low priced as its more upscale than the standard diner, only in SF right?!?! But the food is off the charts. anywho----onward with the morning coffee and vlog!
I'm going there today for lunch, I used to be able to go there for dinner but because of covid they shortened their hours so now it's only open till 2 pm 😞
Love your diner series!! Need more diners in my area. We have 2 "faux" diners that are pretty bad. And that Chevy is an SSR (Super Sport Roadster). Personally, not my cup of tea, but they have been going for some pretty good $ at the Barrett-Jackson auctions recently.
