Rose never mentioned any issues and for years said how great the show was. It wasn't until after her car accident and Alyssa supporting Me Too where Rose started making claims against Alyssa.

Charmed was never the same after Prue's death. The three of them made the show. Their chemistry was what made the show so amazing. It's disappointing to hear that Alyssa had a hand in Shannen's firing.

Shannen was dating Julian McMahon around this time... Julian was also at this time playing Cole, who was in the show dating Phoebe... Alyssa was complaining about a hostile work environment... I may be putting 2 and 2 together and making 5 but I can almost bet on it that hostilities arose because of it.

After she god rid of Shannen she was wearing more and more revealing clothes with every season. Remember that Cinderella episode catastrophe? People say this when it's not true, it's just a subjective opinion. If that was the case, both shows would not have had several seasons after with increased viewership. Clearly people continued to really enjoy the shows.

Shannon had been on three popular shows, and each one fired her for being beyond difficult. I can see that there may have been a power struggle since all three women are very strong in their personality

Not true at all. Shannen was blamed for it and she was pegged as "difficult" which is a killer term for a woman actress. People also blamed her for leaving and creating the ultimatum but whole time it was Alyssas fault for it all.

Check on here in her own words “ shannen talks about charmed” a video on UA-cam where she says she found the work tedious and was telling producers she needed to go and that she had only signed up for 3 seasons. I loved Charmed so much but when Shannen's out, I was upset because I thought those '3 sisters' had great chemistry. Tried to watch after that but hm..no, it's just a 'no', stopped watching it.

Holly even bullied the new cast of charmed when it was rebooted. They need to move on. Is done, over with. Shannen own history of problem behavior speaks for itself. I watched charmed too and Prue was the best character on there but she got herself fired from 90210 for the same thing, fighting with cast members. They are 50 now, move on.

Prue's death was the most heart-wrenching moment of the show, and imo that's when it started going downhill. The media painted Shannen so poorly and a lot of ppl made her the bad guy bc Allyssa was seen as her sweetheart 'Who's The Boss' character. So sad that this happened and I hope that Shannen can find closure.
i actually preferred the cast with rose, i thought she filled out the dynamic really well. but that might just be because i first started watching during season 4. When i went back to watch the first 3 seasons i wasnt much of a fan of prues brooding personality. but i seem to be in the minority here 😅

I do think that considering the circumstances that led to the decline of Charmed in the aftermath of the coup d'état against Shannen and given the fact that a significant portion of public opinion has been turning against Alyssa in the more recent years, it would be suffice to say that Shannen was the true victor in all of this and completely insuring that she be vindicated -better late than never as they say.

The fact that shannen directed her own death scene and didn’t even know she wasn’t coming back for season 4 all of this was done during the hiatus Alyssa really irked me for doing that ultimatum and threaten to sue them

Yeah, I think she knew, her character was actually supposed to die anyway, her character dies in the comics and her spirit goes into the body of a comatose witch named Patience, i think the feud with Alyssa either brought on her death faster or she forced them to kill her character off if they weren’t planning on following the comics entirely.

For the record, while the fault is indeed on Alyssa for what unfolded (and justifiably so), we must also not overlook the glaring fact that it was especially Brad Kern -the chief producer whom was also a central instigator behind it all as he in particular had his own agenda and plans for Charmed -which was rather void to the concept that Constance M. Burge -the mastermind behind the series, had envisioned from the very onset.
Definitely ! The stories on charmed with Burge were breathtaking for the true magical genre scene. Kern‘s charmed went downhill and then became a parody of itself and then became stupid

There's a reason why Charmed lost its spark after S3. When i rewatch, it's always the first three seasons. The show would've been canceled after season 1 without Shannen. I always knew Alyssa was a hypocrite. Never liked her.
I was always a bigger fan of Holly over anyone else. Never really had an issue with Shannon or her character but I’ve read that she wanted the show continue in a darker path and with her departure, you can see that they didn’t go along with that route. The minute season 5 opened, you could feel the vibe finally flipped

Shannen wanted to keep the series loyal to the concept that Constance M. Burge had constructed. However, the moment that Brad Kern began to usurp the series from Ms. Burge -hence, resulting in the latter's departure, coupled with Alyssa looking to make her own power grab within the casting ranks and also being in Mr. Kern's favor, Shannen unfortunately found herself caught up in a vicious circle and inevitably becoming the ultimate sacrificial lamb of the series.

We're talking about something from over 20 years ago that happened between a bunch of women in their twenties in a very competitive industry. I know everyone likes to blame Shannon cause she had issues on 90210, but how horrible could she have been if Aaron Spelling hired her again for Charmed. I loved Alyssa in Charmed but it’s believable she felt some sort of way about Shannon because the two of them were well known faces prior to the show.

It never felt awkward. The story of the new sister perfectly fit in with the series thanks to the premise from the early seasons.

The sisters weren’t immortal and they risked their lives every single day. So they knew that this was coming cause of their mom who was gone way too soon as well. Paige didn’t appear out of nowhere. Paige’s premise was set out in Season 2 already when the sisters met their mother’s whitelighter Sam and found out that they had had an affair. And as we find out in Season 4 Paige was a result of that affair, but they couldn’t keep her cause having a love affair between a witch and a whitelighter was forbidden. That’s why Patty and Sam took her to a local church as soon as she was born. Paige’s appearance is perfectly explained and accompanied by the fact that the Source wasn’t satisfied with Prue being gone and the Power of Three being disrupted, he was determined to eliminate all of them, including Paige and Paige was the only hope to reconstitute the Charmed Ones thus saving them. That’s why she had to resurface. With that being said, Paige’s introduction added a new dynamic, a new impulse to the show. Rose McGowan did a phenomenal job playing Paige.

There was no indication that a baby was ever conceived during that affair in said season/episode. Affairs don't necessarily equate to a pregnancy.
Prue's death was so random and sudden that this miraculous new sister storyline felt a bit out of place and it wasn't clear at the end of season 3 that Prue had died. I'd guess that they were hoping to solve whatever issues but could'nt so we got the shock of a first s4 ep. I mean, they flew through those walls how many times? They cheated death how many times? They went to the past,.to the future, reversed or accelerated time and all that but now all of sudden they don't have the power? It made no sense but I for one grew to love Paige just as much. I just feel that her introduction was premature/rushed.

If you have been following Charmed from the start you would have known this. But I guess this makes it more official
It’s funny that alyssa had the nerve to give an ultimatum saying either she goes or I do! Yet holly and shannen started the show together. On the un-aired pilot episode there was another actress had the role of phoebe but was replaced with Alyssa do to her faith in Christianity and witchcraft which goes against everything she stood for regarding that. For me the show wasn’t the same after prue’s death shannen’s departure left a sour taste in my mouth, how she was killed off it wasn’t good and could’ve been done better. It’s pretty obvious they wanted Alyssa to be the star of the show. Even the intros changed after s3 moving her up in the 1st spot when s4 started.
Charmed fans that didn't live under a rock knew all this and didn't need to be told in 2023. Shannen has said before that she took her craft seriously and that others didn't on the charmed set. It was obvious she was talking about Alyssa as her relationship was so close with Holly. This might have been true or just Shannen's view that Alyssa wasn't professional on set. It looks like Alysaa was playing the HR game and following the right channels and Holly and Shannen were "refusing" to talk to the resources available to them. I too have accepted that the show ended after season 3. I bought the other seasons recently on bluray and haven't even cracked those seasons open. Maybe one day but from what I saw in Season 4, the storyline made no sense and it just got worse in season 5 and beyond. I was rather irritated with Alyssa for years her for the downfall of one of my favorite shows ever but that is just the way it is.
Four and five were actually good but for the most part Charmed was a hammy show.
Alyssa did play Evil Pheobe very very well... that's all I'm saying. I love all the sisters equally. Although Prue had a special place in my heart and her death broke me 💔

I knew it!!!! Thank god we now know what really happed in that period and how things went. We as real fans deserved to know the truth and now i feel so sad that they couldn’t work it out…… the show without shannen was differet and lost its magical and special factor
"You just learn a lesson and look at somebody differently." That is true to the core. Yes, people will be jealous of you, envious; they will even have his/her own problems and blame you for things and try to not have you around anymore. But, when it happens, when you basically stab someone in the back, that other person WILL look at you differently. Its kind of sad because this stuff happens all the time everywhere. The great thing is that (yes, years later) they found a time to reconnect, granted Shannen going through her breast cancer situation. Forgiveness doesn't come easy, but admitting you might have been wrong in a situation is always a good first step towards moving forward. Thanks for the video. Happy Holidays. 🙂
I saw that interview with Alyssa Milano about reaching out to Shannon taking responsibility for her actions and said Shannon was a great actress incredible actress. You could see how much remorse and regret she had and how much compassion she showed to Shannon for what she was going through with her treatment, although Alyssa is an actress if she never meant it then that was an Oscar winning performance 🤣🤣
2001 was like 1994 all over again. Another show that was reduced to crap after Shannen’s departure and what little I did see made me wonder if the costume designer for Charmed really hated Rose McGowan. And the worst part was that to this day Shannen’s straight-to-video classic “Blindfold: Acts of Obsession” still hasn’t been released on DVD whereas Alyssa’s “Poison Ivy 2” has but that is only because it could piggyback off Drew Barrymore’s big 90s comeback in name only.
Reduced to crap? I think not. Although the first 3 seasons were great, season 4 was brilliantly executed. The themes, the stories, the demons, the Book of Shadows, season 5 was great too. Season 6 was ok. Season 7 was exceptional. Season 8 was okay but would have been better without Billie and Christie.

@alucinado1021 I never watched DH but Shannen was def the star in every season she was in. I've said this elsewhere but they treated Holly and Alyssa like sidekicks for the 3 seasons she was on the show. It should've been an ensemble cast from the start. We never would've gotten the cole/phoebe storyline we got has she stayed on the show.
When they removed Prue (Shannon) i got sad. Its never been like it before. I liked Rose McGowan's role and addition to the show though. Charmed was well-known in the Philippines wayback.
Shannon was my favorite on the show. In the empath episode her actor play is so good ! She was the best actress. It's sad they never was able to find a solution. Everyone has their part of shame. We focused on Alyssa's one because during 20 years it was Shannen fault.

I KNEW Alyssa's performance as Phoebe fell super flat during the post-Prue-funeral episodes. It was like she was excited to move on, you could feel it from her character even. Whereas Holly's performance after Shannen left (and Prue died) felt so authentic and real, and I still remember every step of her grief cycle.

I'm sad to hear this because I thought Shannen and Alyssa buried the hatchet when Shannen got cancer and they put all this behind them. This makes me sad to hear.

Alyssa destroyed Charmed. Alyssa wasn't chosen for the role of Phoebe at the beginning of the show. She was the third choice, and she destroyed everything. When Alyssa got Shannen fired, I stopped to watch the show.
I think we should have a continuation with a alternate reality where Phoebe died and Prue survived. Opening up with them placing flowers on Phoebe’s grave just saying some kind words and moving on with Shannen Holly and Rose maybe even switching out Pages powers for Phoebes in this new reality or allowing Page to not only orb but she gets premonitions adding some new powers for each sister problem solve, there powers were technically growing . Then getting the show back to that like Originals/Buffy like action drama we loved so much. Side note is there anyway you can research how do we get in contact with the network to ask for Charmed return to air with Shannen Holly and Rose ?
I would love it very much since I love Prue , Piper and Page the best! Not so much love at all for Phoebe who had always negatively rubbed me wrong way. Phoebe was my least liked character on the show.

I thought Alyssa getting Shannen fired was commonly known. I remember hearing about this back when it happened.
We all knew Alyssa was the issue but people wanted details. The podcast that Shannon and Holly did gave us plenty of details.
E News again that last quote was from Alyssa Milano not Shannen Doherty. Alyssa has a interview with E News no less and she was filmed saying that quote and to add in that very same interview she basically took accountability for all of this drama she created. This is the second incorrect reporting about that comment. Shannen has been through enough misrepresentation and it’s time we got it right!

I knew this when the firing happened. I didn’t like how Alyssa on video was trying to get everyone on set to say how difficult Shannen was. She was the only one in the end who was speaking. It was really wrong how Shannen was treated! Holly was and is Shannen’s best friend and had her back!

To all the people who clearly haven’t listened to the whole podcast, Shannen said she was addressing “her truth” publicly for the first time because she’s still asked why she left the show. She has always keep up the narrative it was her choice, “her truth” is the producers fired her after Alyssa told them it was her or Shannen, she would sue for breach of contract if they kept Shannen. Shannen stated it’s all in the past now with no ill will towards her, yet fighting for her life has taught her not to be afraid to speak “her truth”, and she has bigger things to focus on these days.
Shannen was also said to be hard to work with in 90210…multiple sides to each story, not going to jump on a hate train. There’s also the possibility the producers pitted them against each other to avoid taking responsibility for the bad work environment.
I agree. They were all child star and had egos. I'm not saying that Alyssia couldn't have had diva moments, but Holly and Shanne were best friends walking into the show, they give me " mean girl" vibes and it feels like they are down playing the tension on set. At this point i don't get why they keep bring up the drama with Alyssia she has distanced herself away from the show to the point she hasn't gone to one fan convention. Just leave the girl alone what good does it do the draw up all this pass drama? It's just ruining the show for fans.

Shannen/Prue was the best and strongest character on the show. I literally stopped watching the show after season 3. Even though I tried but I just could not get into it. It was one of my all time favorite Tv shows until Prue was killed off. I wish they had chosen her over Alyssa. The show was never the same again.

If I remember correctly, it was indeed an ultimatum from Alyssa, but they kinda made it look like the production chose Milano over Doherty and the whole detail about Milano’s threat to sue was never revealed, I think.
That said, Prue’s character had become rather obnoxious by season 3, she thought she was invincible and had this holier than thou / superiority complex, something Patty also suffered from as it was revealed by Leo in season 5. In a way, Prue ‘s death was foreshadowed eps before the finale. Let s not forget it was also her fault that they were exposed when, blinded by her super witch attitude, she went after Shax in plain day light, something they had been careful not to do before.
I just wonder how much in advance had the producer decided to kill Prue and fire Shannen.

Front what I saw on the show in the beginning, it looked like Shannon seem to be growing and might’ve been a star and Alyssa was jealous of that. Once Shannon left then Alyssa became that star, so it just sounds like it was jealousy really

I read somewhere that Holly and Shannen eventually came to the conclusion that the showrumners did not want the 3 to be really close and rallying together as they did noy want another case of Friends where the lead actors banded together to get the same amount of pay or no show at all. It wouldn't be a surprise if they actually were the force that drove the enmity between the actresses to avoid that scenario. For such a hit show, its always the bottom dollar that matters to those who control it.

They're both type A personalities, they were bound to clash and its sad to know it wasn't all sunshine and rainbows off screen. Still doesn't hamper the fact it was a fun show. I hope both can move on and we get a reunion of sorts...
Forgiveness is key in life. Shannon needs to forgive, and I think she will moving forward. It seems that Alyssa felt an honest discomfort and expressed that with another. We can't blame her for her feelings back then. I wish them all well and that they can forgive each other.

Charmed would’ve been AMAZING with Piper, Prue, and Paige together after Phoebe being the one who died rather than Prue.
Armin Shimerman (the wizard from season 4) noted that this was a very toxic set, the most toxic he had been on.
I liked Prue/Shannen much better than Phoebe/Alyssa. The show was never the same after Shannen left.
You could even hear Holly kind of holding her tears, it was clear that she didn't want her to leave, and that it was unfair. Alyssa Milano had to much envy
I have nothing but sympathy for Shannon right now and everything that she's going through, and it's nice that Holly and her were friends then and are still friends now. However, back in the day Shannen Doherty was infamous for being difficult on almost every set she worked on, so I don't think it's fair to vilify Alyssa now because she didn't want to work with her.
I wish there was a crystal ball and we could see what happened if Prue lived and pheobe died... I can imagine Rose McGowan and Shannen getting along sooooooo well 😭

As much as I respect these women's opinions, given how Alyssa Milano was portrayed in the show, especially after Prue's departure, it's incredibly hard for me to believe she had as much power as the people who were actually in charge are claiming. It sounds a lot more like blame shifting so they don't have to take accountability for what they did. They're clearly scared of the threat of a lawsuit, so still taking no responsibility for what happened in the past means lowering any chance of Shannon Doherty coming after them today. And even if AM did pose the ultimatum, they still chose her over SD, and that was entirely due to the Cole story-line, didn't have anything to do with her - if anything, her threatening to sue made her more of a liability to keep around
Not really. If it was a hostile work environment claim she was threatening and if SD was at the center of it, removing her would show the execs took the necessary steps to address the issue, so the liability threat would be removed if Alyssa stayed.
It's not really that hard to believe. AM didn't make the decisions herself. She gave them an either or choice to make. The Cole storyline being an influencing factor is an interesting thought I had not considered. I doubt the suits making those decisions cared one bit about the show itself though. More likely than not, they realized that firing SD was the less risky option. Spelling had already done it once before and she went quietly. Firing AM would bring the threat of lawsuits and retaliation claims (it would look like AM was fired for raising the claims).
This is assuming what HMC and SD said is true. None of us were there so we don't know. Based on what Rose has said about AM, I'm inclined to believe Holly. If you listen to the podcast, that would be an awful elaborate lie to concoct. I doubt we'll ever hear the full version of events though. It's really just sad.
@@fong03 The case would only hold up if the courts believed SD was solely responsible for the work environment being hostile. Given what AM has owned up to in recent years, I doubt they would have, so SD could've easily filed a counter suit. Either way, I'm not inclined to believe HMC - she seems to constantly change sides between her co-stars depending on whoever has public favour at the time. Back then, despite being good friends with SD, she was often on AM's side, and now that SD has cancer, AM is the villain? Workplace drama aside, the people in charge of the series were clearly the biggest villains. They took a series about 3 sisters mending their complicated relationships and turned it into a male fantasy, and no one can tell me any of the cast members really wanted that

How was she "often on AM's side" and how did she "change sides?" The story at the time that everyone was telling about SD's departure was that she chose to left. The delve into that in the podcast as well.
Rose already pointed out AM's alleged behavior on the set years ago, so it not at all that this is coming out of left field. You are also assuming that SD is lying too. Either you believe SD and HMC (and RM claims about AM's toxic behavior on set) or you believe AM. It seems more unlikely that all 3 of them are lying, nut we will just have to agree to disagree.
I think the one thing we can agree on is the execs are really the ones who should have the most blame. HMC and SD talk about this on the podcast as well. I don't doubt that SD and AM were pitted against each other by the suits and whatever bad behavior either engaged in was probably encouraged or rewarded by the suits until they reached a breaking point.

The producer definitely had a lot to do with it. It's great that things are being said now, I have looked at Alyssa Milano differently over the years, but it feels hollow now to get mad over something that happened so long ago. I'm glad they squashed it eventually, but wow, speak on some truths queen!
Because of my disdain for Allysa Milano, and this started years ago, I don’t watch Who’s the Boss anymore. I continued to watch after Shannen left because I was a Leo and Piper fan, but I missed her. Shannon is a great actress.
Same. I started to dislike her when she hijacked the MeToo movement for an additional 15 minutes of fame, renamed it Times Up, and once she milked it dry for all the money and put it in her husband's company, then she gave it back to regular women. I looked back at Charmed after Prue and see hints of her femininst ways back then.
My favorites are the darker, gritter years of Season 1- 3. Season 1 is probably my favorite for the ill fated romance between Prue and Andy.
After Prue left, it was See Phoebe in skimpy outfits and more campier show.
Piper was the glue who held the show together. Loved her relationship with Leo and her children Wyatt and Chris. Love Season 7 when the cute Drew Fuller joined the show as Chris and Leo turned dark. Hated how they ruined Cole's character especially when they brought him back from the dead and had him obsessed with Phoebe when he could have any woman he wanted. Season 4 was the darkest season. Season 8 was the weakest season with a great two part series finale.
I don't remember season 4 through 6 that well, but Paige grew on me. I liked the Dark Enchantress episode, the one when she finds out who her father was, the love scene with the best friend before the episode where he married another woman. Season 7 was probably my fourth favorite season. The show was great with Prue and only good without her. I think Season Six ended with them in some weird Witness Protection thing.
Shannon just had that It factor. Holly was the regular girl with the exception of her iconic Coyote Ugly dance scene when she was possessed by Glinda, and Phoebe was pretty to look at.
It is hard to know this, because Charmed was one of my favourite shows in 90s when I was teenager, and I had big admiration to this characters and know this finished of this way is sad… Prue was my favourite character in the show.
Why now?
Charmed was never the same without Shannen. Alyssa killed the show
