Using Jakarta's Skytrain for the First Time in Indonesia!

When arriving in Jakarta, you can either use a taxi or the skytrain to get into central Jakarta, As the train worked out cheaper, we decided to hop onto the train and see what Jakarta's train system is like.
Much to our surprise, we did not expect Jakarta's Skytrain to be impressive. It was a little bit of a struggle to navigate getting to the sky train from Soekarna- Hatta International airport but once we were on the train, it was smooth sailing. This train even had a bathroom which was beyond our expectations!

Jakarta has a completely spots for tourists! It has Beach (Ancol & Pulau seribu), Malls (hundred of malls), National Monument, Old heritage of Dutch Colonial (Kota tua/Old City), Amusement Park (Dufan or Dunia Fantasy), Culinary spot (PIK, China Town), Zoo (Ragunan), Giant Aquarium (Ancol), Florists Park, Urban Jungle. Also Jakarta has satelite cities & the famous for tourist is Bogor (about 2 hours from Jakarta). In Bogor you can see Natural largest zoo (Taman Safari), Paralayang on top of tea plantation and top of mountain (Puncak Pass), giant botanical garden (Taman Raya Bogor) etc.

Hi guys, I recommend taking the airport train as well for your flight out, because during national holidays people can miss their flights due to traffic jams! Also, trains are indeed a-okay in Java island, so I highly recommend that for intercity travel in Java. Most punctual (and maybe cleanest) intercity trains in Southeast Asia.
If you arrive at noon (non rush hour), taxi is a better option, you don't have to wait long.
If you arrive around rush hour or Friday/Saturday night ,you better use train..
The traffic in Jakarta is notorious...so it really depends on time.

guys, explore Jakarta, there is something to explore! some 30 years ago it was not so much fun ... in general, have fun, Jakarta is a city of unexpected sensations.
Taxi from airport is exclude Toll Fee ± IDR 30.000 and airport Fee of IDR 10.000 (for taxi, I don't know for grab). And as taxi is using meter, It could raise more cost depend on the traffic situation, but mostly traffic from airport to the city is smooth.

Correction :
There are 3 modes of transportation to leave Soekarno Hatta AIrport :
1. Train
2. Taxi
3. AIRPORT BUS.
Airport Bus is in Airport 2 (Domestic), the same price as the train but has more extensive routes than the train. There are 2 airport-bus operators in the Soekarno Hatta airport : DAMRI and Blue Bird. Both have good quality and comfortable, each row is equipped with electricity socket for mobile phone and laptop chargers.
Depending on the destination, locals usually choose to use airport buses as they usually outreach closer into residential areas.

that taxi fare of 140k from Airport to Menteng area (where you stayed) only covers the taxi fare only. There is extra fare for highway tolls that you have to pay still.
The train might not be convenient (and becoming a lot more expensive) if you travel in group of larger than two peoples.
But if you travel solo or in couple, train is definitely the cheapest option available. There are cheaper option by taking public buses though. The train used to run every 30 minutes to the city. But, given the airport is only running 60-70% of pre-pandemic capacity, the train frequency was halved from what It used to be.
Train is ONLY the viable option if you stay in the center of Jakarta. If you stay in the Western, Northern, OR Southern suburb of Jakarta, the most obvious means of transport would be taxies, or public buses to the suburb for cheaper fares.
That is so true we didn't realise there were other costs for tolls. But so glad we got to experience the train, we were so impressed 😊

@@thebuddymoon While you are in Yogyakarta I suggest you not to come to Borobudur because you can't go to the top and tickets price for the foreigners are quite expensive.
Instead you can come to Prambanan.
And don't forget to come to Jalan Malioboro the main street in jogja near the Sultan palace and in the night try to come to Alun Alun Kidul. its a street food heaven
and also you can try the blindfold challenge to pass the twin banyan trees.

Hello, The sky train is amazing my friends in Jakarta, Indonesia. You got one of the most beautiful hotels to stay with a fridge, microwave Owen and all the facilities my friends. I love it
back then a few years been this train operated people not used to get in to it, but now the passenger growth because it's worth value for money
I think you can take skytrain from terminal 3 direct to train station..No need to transit at Terminal 2
Also if you decide to take taxi to city, you need to pay the Tool road fee as well

@@thebuddymoon Are you still in Jakarta? If so, please try the Commuter Line system, a suburban railway service in Greater Jakarta. Foreign vloggers usually only try the currently-single-line MRT.
Unfortunately we no longer in Jakarta, but we will make a point of that non our next visit 😊
@@thebuddymoon anw, yes, the airport train is not worth it for group travelers. It's best if you travel alone (unless you're arrived in peak hours and can't hold your patience for traffic jam). Another cheap option is the bus, it's still cheap for 2 people even compared to taxi. The buses have numerous destinations in Greater Jakarta, choose which one closest to your hotel.

Train is the safest way to avoid traffic congestion in Jakarta. It can be really crazy during raining. It's my savior to reach the office on time after flying from the other city in early morning.

you can try to mbloc in blok m in south jakarta, hutan kota di senayan, Pluit Indah Kapuk beach, labu bajo, bali, cikole forest lembang in west java, mount tangkuban parahu, telaga saat puncak in Puncak, Kopi Langitan (Kapilih) in bogor, Pelangi Cafe & Resto in bogor (west java). Puncak Halimun Camp Bogor (rent camping) so can see bigger mountain from above, also see great mountain in Bromo, east java. can see plateaus in dieng mount, central java.

Old city amazing.
you stopped at the wrong place at first when you ride the skytrain. you can directly stop at the airport train station but you stopped at another terminal anyway. looking at the time when you arrive at the airport station at 12 pm, I assume you could've taken the train at 11.49 am if you didn't mess with the skytrain stop earlier. also you ride the airport train not during the rush hour so the headway would be 1 hour interval, it could've been 30 mins interval during rush hours. i'd say taking the airport train would still be the most effective one cause you can never predict the traffic jam if you take the taxi.

I usually use the sky train if travel alone and from airport goes to stasiun Batu Ceper it is varied based on hour I think but it is far cheaper than using taxi. But if I go with more than 2 peoples I will use taxi lol

A couple of things to consider if you want to take taxis from the airport especially in Jakarta: most likely you will charged more if you take the highway/toll roads and depending on the time of the day, you'll face heavy traffic to oh god oh fuck this traffic jam didn't move for an hour kind of situation
