You're a lucky and clever lady to be able to do that! Can you offer any tips for making it with long sleeves, 3/4 sleeves, above the knee, on the knee, etc? I used to make all my own clothes but that was about 20 years ago and I've been totally out of practice since then. I'm just trying to ease myself back into it, but don't have the confidence to alter patterns like that! I hope you can offer me some tips 🙂
I love this dress! I have an 11 year old daughter who is on the larger side and she is also autistic. She only wants to wear knit dresses, no pants, and it's been hard for me to find things for her. This would be perfect so I'm going to give it a go!!!! Thanks so much for sharing!
Love the video and your expert instructions. I will consider using a similar fashion fabric to make the dress. I don't anticipate mismatching the seams as I have purchased an 'even feed foot' that I will attach to my machine to help keep the top layer of fabric from slipping while sewing the seams together. I made a similar top for a friend without princess seams that turned out beautifully.
I hope this doesn't sound strange because we have never met. I find your personality be so likable; I feel as though you are a friend of mine. Your professionalism, partnered with your enthusiasm and skill level make you a natural at these tutorials. I find myself rooting for you in all your endeavors. And I get excited when I see that you have posted a new video. XOXO from Florida
+laceyunderall22 Aww lacey, that's lovely. I feel the same way about all of you who watch. When I sit there and make a video, I feel like I'm explaining it to my friends, and I want them all to do a really good job.
I love your instructional videos. I have purchased the patterns for the Della wallet and pockets of plenty purse. I have never sewn with knit fabric and I think I am going to give this dress a go. Wish me luck.
Please do more video like this. As a beginner, I have never done dress and always scared to start and gets intimidated by lot of sewer who sew dresses and post on various Facebook groups. Please share more videos. Thanks.
@8:42...Regarding that purple metal/magnet pin holder on the right side of the screen....is that better than one of those tomato pin cushions to hold one's pins? I see those and am not sure what to purchase? (I'm a newbie. :) thanks!
I love the dress and have made a toile to see what the fit is like. What appears to be the waistline is too low, how can i work out how to shorten it in this areas please?
Thank you for this video. I see you serged your seams. Do I need to do that or can I use my regular machine and do a zig zag stitch? Or, did you sew the seam and then finish with the serger? Newbie here.
Hi Deby, I love the flare and shape of this dress - thinking of adapting it with long sleeves (some of us live in cold climates!) and the rolled neck from your On-a-roll T-shirt - I've already added that to a few tops, thanks. The fabric I want to use - some kind of viscose/poly/lycra, I'd guess - has about 40% stretch on the grain and 60% on the crossgrain. That's more than you suggest so what problems could I run into? I'm not afraid of stretchy fabrics btw, but if I need to look for another pattern I'd rather know now. Thanks a mil. Clare
+Vivienne W (Summer Sun) You might surprise yourself how easy this one can be. Pick a fairly stable knit like a ponte and its easier to sew than some others than can roll.
+silverbracelet6 Should be fairly easy. If you look at each pattern piece you'll see how the flare is added. Just add a little extra at the bottom on all the pieces evenly and blend that extra up to the original hip line.
Can I use a non-stretch fabric like cotton for this? I 'm planning on making a summer dress and stretch fabrics tend to be very uncomfortable in the heat.
+Brenda Shoemaker Here is the link, so-sew-easy.com/fit-flare-dress-free-pattern/ You came grab it for free, but you will need to grade it to your size. Cheers!
From pattern cite. "Assuming fabric 54 inches wide, you will need approximately 2.5 yards of fabric. If your fabric is 60 inches wide, smaller sizes A and B can fit onto 1.75 yards."
Will someone please tell me why it takes a rocket scientist to download this free pattern and why I have to download to a new browser etc. I've been trying to print this "free" pattern for an hour which is making me feel really stupid since I don't have any trouble downloading and printing other patterns from other pattern companies. I'm ready to trash this entire video vlog So Sew Easy because so far it's not one bit easy to try and get this pattern. I am subscribed to the channel and all, but every time I click on the green bar or where I am being directed to click, it sends me to a page that I can't make heads or tails out of. I've yet to print this "free pattern"....Can someone tell me what I am either doing wrong, or I'm outta here. Thanks
I love this pattern. I've made it 10 times so far. Long sleeves, 3/4 sleeves, above the knee, on the knee & midi 🙂

I normally sew my seams and the serge them. Sometimes I just use the zigzag stitch though. I find both work fine.
Great tutorial. Thanks.
You're welcome!
Love this dress.
Very lovely...Thanks for sharing!
Really love the fabric where can you buy it please x

Can the front scoop neckline be raised?
Beautiful dress, don't know if I could do it though.

Could you explain for us how to use pattern
Love the dress. It's pretty. What's the name of the pattern of this one?

CUTE! Is there a way to make it flare a little more?

Can it be made with cotton?
Just bought my material for this. Do you sew your seams before over locking or just overlocker.
Could this be made with no stretch fabric?

The pattern is for knits only,
Alsy you'd probably have to insert a zipper
