@Kwizera Moses The Challenger was a NASA spacecraft that exploded slight after liftoff killing the entire crew. One of them was a teacher that won a contest to ride on the spacecraft. Her students watched on TV in school as the spaceship plummeted back to Earth

I'm a Hispanic guy born in Houston, Texas and I found this hilarious.
I don't know if it was from the retake, but Cornette cut a promo in the TBS studios about Ronnie Garvin and said he reminded him of an old school teacher of his. "She had blue eyes and so does Ronnie Garvin. One blew this way, and one blew that way." Schiavone looked soberly at Cornette and intoned, "That's not funny, Jim."

That Ronnie Garvin fireball angle is one of my top 3 angles EVER. I was so mad that he did that to Ronnie. Man I HATED Jim Cornette. As a kid I never understood why my dad loved the heels. Now that know. Lol thats what I loved about wrestling in the 80s. It was SO believable. You deserve to be in the HOF. I grew up in L.A.
I didn’t like the Midnight Express until Stan Lane came in and replaced Dennis Condrey.

I hated watching Jim back in the day, now I love to listen to Jim tell stories.
Cornette has such a way with words. He never mentions much formal schooling either which leads me to believe thats just off the dome,wittiness and timing.

I like Jim's promo from late Feb '87, where he comes out with Bobby & Bubba, dressed like he just returned from Hawaii. He takes off the lei he's wearing and places it around Tony Schiavone's neck, and tells him that it's likely the only "lei" he'll ever get.
I'm rather surprised Jim got away with that remark. Was Dusty not there that day?

I thought I'd seen or heard about EVERY Jim Cornette old-school promo/story, but never knew about this never-before-seen Challenger promo until I saw it referenced on an Arn Anderson podcast video!! The Challenger tragedy happened in January/1986 and Cornette cut this promo about a year later in early 1987, so he probably thought it was okay to say it as a way to get even more HEEL HEAT on himself. It's good that Dusty shut down the taping and told Cornette to redo the promo. We know that society was WAY more accepting of crude/ruthless humor in 1987, but making off color remarks about the Challenger crossed the line, even a year after it happened. Dusty did the right thing there!!

It's been 36 years and that Challenger promo still makes me cringe. I remember that spaceship blowing up on my 4th birthday and that promo. Years later, I couldn't believe that he said that on TV, laughing my ass off, and was saying Oooo Jesus lol.

Back then, the fans didn’t realize the promoter was yanking their chain. They just saw some obnoxious little runt saying stuff that was getting them pissed off, to the point that they wanted to buy a ticket just to watch him get beat up in the ring.
The difference between then a now is that the fans and advertisers all know now that the promoter is telling the heels what to say, so the fans get mad at the promoter and don’t show up to his matches.
It's honestly a great heel line. We need stuff like that nowadays

Space shuttle named “challenger” in 1984 or 1985 was taking off and after 30-40 seconds after the first rockets were coming off, the entire shuttle exploded on CNN, it was a major event much like space shuttle Columbia in 2004 or 2006
