    good to see you out there doing the work, did a few test deployments for Chuck Embury ESS back in the early '80's with hang gliding rounds, long before the PDA. Came to look at riser config. Putting a Beamer 3 in a repaired harness. Thanks for the excellent documentation on repack, handles in the back is pointy end forward.

    awesome product, small pack volume, light weight, descent rate lower than comparable conical round by a lot. I deployed a few 20 gore round conicals under broken hang gliders, and did cutaways with a 20 gore round conical rated at 30fps at 175# std atmosphere. fortunately the only time I landed a 20 gore was in short trees.

    On a couple of the deployments there appears to be a lot of short loose lines at the attachment point to the risers, was this a prototype? Great video, thanks. 👍

    Verhänger welcher eine Spirale auslöst. Eine längere Verbindungsleine
    zum Rettungschirm (wie bei Deltafliegern) wäre doch meines Erachtens
    viel sicherer?

    • @flyHighAdventure
      @flyHighAdventure  3 роки тому

      Das ist reiner Zufall und ich bin überzeugt davon, dass das in keinem direkten Zusammenhang mit dem Retterfrass steht. Und wie sollten die Hersteller das verhindern? Je nach Schirmmodell (Schulschirm - Wettkampfgerät) differieren die Leinenlängen um ein paar Meter...

    Do you think a paramotor could keep level flight with an open Beamer?

    • @flyHighAdventure
      @flyHighAdventure  4 роки тому

      I love that question ;-). The sink rate at 170 kg is in the range between 2.9 - 3.6 m/sec. How much thrust does your paramotor provide?

    • @classqairspace
      @classqairspace 4 роки тому

      @@flyHighAdventure I was close to trying it once. I'm on a Moster 185+ making something like 75kg of static thrust.

    • @flyHighAdventure
      @flyHighAdventure  4 роки тому +3

      @@classqairspace This should work with the Beamer 3 #170. Unfortunately we cannot try this here in Switzerland, because paramotors are forbidden.

    How were you able to cut away the paragliding canopy, once the rogallo was deployed?!

    Can you flare with the Beamer3 on landing? Does it help any?

    • @flyHighAdventure
      @flyHighAdventure  Рік тому +1

      Hi Dave. Yes, in principle. However, that always depends a bit on the situation. If you have your paraglider under control and don't have to hold it in a B- or C-stall with one hand or even have it completely retracted, then you can flare the Beamer 3 for landing.
      Otherwise it is better to steer with one hand only and keep your paraglider under control with the other hand until landing.
      The flair effect is not so high but clearly noticeable against the wind.
      Cheers, Urs

    Why did the pilot disconnect one side of the reserve?

    • @flyHighAdventure
      @flyHighAdventure  4 роки тому +4

      During the test flight of this first prototype type nothing worked. As we still had a lot of altitude left, we wanted to know how the glider flies with only one suspension. There were already pilots who had only one riser attached to their harness. The system is designed in such a way that it still flies.

    Does it flare?

    • @flyHighAdventure
      @flyHighAdventure  4 роки тому +3

      Hi Raven
      Just a little, one can hardly call it a flare. It's a habit of us paraglider pilots...
      When connected to the paraglider, one hand should always control the destroyed glider. It would be wrong to release it for flairing just before landing, the glider could open up again and affect the system.

      @@flyHighAdventure thqnkw for answering! is it possible to stall the rogallo?

    • @flyHighAdventure
      @flyHighAdventure  4 роки тому +3

      @@quoth_raven No, the lengths of the brake lines are limited on our Rogallos. It is not possible to oversteer or even stall.

      @@flyHighAdventure Just out of curiosity, if a pilot wraps steering lines around hands from hands down position up to hands up and then pushes them all the way down, then is it possible to stall the Beamer?
      And doing the same with one hand is it possible to make the Beamer go into spiral?

    • @flyHighAdventure
      @flyHighAdventure  Рік тому

      @@AlexeySlepov Hi Alexey. No, the Beamer 3 cannot be stalled via the brake lines. Both steering lines have a limiting line, after that they can not be pulled down further. Just to prevent pilots from doing wrong things under a certain stress level.
