In this short video I discuss the main reasons for the absence of new uploads on this channel in the last couple years and whether I've quit making videos on UA-cam for good.
Hey man! Doing UA-cam, even casually, takes an insane amount of time and effort. Often the videos that look like they took the least effort actually took the most, and very few people realise how difficult it is to even make a simple talking head video. And you know all this, of course! So it's absolutely not something I'd recommend to most people, and certainly not to someone with lots of other commitments. So I'm here for whatever you DO post, and cheering you on in whatever you do outside of that!
Lamont, you can't even imagine how much I appreciate you stopping by and leaving such a supportive message. I want to take this opportunity to make sure you know that the support is mutual :)
Ciao Stefano! I am neither a denizen of the polyglot social-media world nor much of a follower of language-learning related UA-cam channels. I'm an academic, a political economist whose spend 4 decades studying Japan , who grew up in 3 languages (partly in Montréal and mostly in Japan) and has tried to take up a new language every 6 or 7 years from my mid-20s, at first for professional reasons and later entirely to expand my own world. As I've shared my passion for learning with my students everyday for years and years it never occurred to me to share my very personal language-learning side with anyone. Then one day, inadvertently, I came across an interview with you. I was always dubious of self-promoting, self-styled 'hyper polyglots', but I felt you were different. Of course I appreciated your infectious energy, passion for learning and obvious love of your subject matter, but what really impressed me was what seemed your sincere desire to inspire others without putting yourself up or trying to sell some service, method or platform. I could relate to you choosing languages like your beloved Finnish or Georgian, based on criteria other than how practical or fashionable knowing them might be, and how you put in the hard work to go such a deep level. Listening to you discuss your love of and relationship with German, for example, was to reminiscent of my own experiences. That you have been off, busy with living and all the unexpected opportunities and demands that life places in our path is to be commended. If you make new videos, a labour and time-intensive task I realize, that's great and welcome back. If not, that's fine too. I know your passion for learning won't be diminished either way. I just want to thank you for doing things the right way and for the right reasons!
It's funny that I just discovered your channel when researching about the Finnish language (there is a possibility of me moving to Finland next year) and, suddenly, you are back. You are such an inspiration to me, it's been years since I became fluent in three languages (English and Spanish + native Portuguese) and, because of your passion, I am feeling again this urge to study a new language from zero. I would love to watch more videos about Finnish, but honestly, just post whatever you feel motivated to create and whenever you have time to do this without pressure from life responsibilities. Best wishes :)
Leonardo, obrigadinho pela tua mensagem! Your support and kind words are very, very much appreciated... The next video is going to be about Finnish, so hopefully you will enjoy it. Best of luck for everything and keep me posted on your possible moving to Finland. Até mais!
Hey Stefano! Just wanted to say that we love your videos, but it's also important to prioritize family and yourself! I'd love to see new videos from you, but we all want to see you happy and healthy all the same- even if that means fewer videos, spread out over longer periods of time. Nonetheless, welcome back!
It is one of the really nice things on UA-cam, when an old favourite posts again after a long time. I'm lucky enough to have two such videos in my feed today, this is a very good Thursday!
Oh my! I've just found the video. I'm so glad to hear news from you, and above all, good news. (I'm the person who wished you a Happy New Year or Christmas in my own language, who started Romanian and then changed to Russian).
Ciao.
very much looking forward to new videos (especially if there will be more about finnish!). but no rush, stefano! i'm sure we can all wait till you've space amongst your other commitments!
I am very happy to hearing of you are not giving up. And I would like to ask you, if you could advise some materials in Italian to learn Finnish please!
Ciao Andrea, big thanks for your message!

I listened to your video where you spoke romanian and I was not able to believe that you are speaking soo good. I even took few things from your speech and started to use it in my everyday speaking. Today I am B2 in Romanian and started to study German, even it goes very hard i don't want to give up and you in your videos supporting and inspiring me so much. Mulțumesc frumos pentru tot ce faci.
