      Thank you 🙏 I just personally never gravitate towards negative things. I always try and find happiness and positives even when negative experiences arise. But I'm also just real, and I never want to lie to the people that view our content. It's very important to us that we keep things real. We watch videos to prep for trips to places we've never been, and I wouldn't want to be told something was great if it was ACTUALLY not a good experience. @patrickodonnell1352 I enjoy Disney and I really want them to do well. It makes vacations for families worth it. But I also have to keep things real with our viewers. It's funny, we've done a lot of holidays at the parks, even NYE at EPCOT this past year and it was not even close to as bad as this. I am hoping people at least understand the crowd levels and experience to expect if attending the 4th at MK, some people would probably thrive in the environment. It's hard, because for the viewers, we always just keep it real. But I also just don't like being negative, especially since we've had a few of our recent Disney videos being negative. And I don't want people thinking we dislike Disney, we want every park to succeed and be enjoyable. But I just felt like we were not having a great time, and I doubt we will do that again. It was bizarre to see a shorter celebration, especially with how crowded it was. 😬

      Haven't done MK for the 4th yet! So we weren't sure, but we found out. I guess I thought NYE and such was doable at EPCOT and we've dealt with bad crowds before. But this was kind of next level. I assume it's just an MK problem. Not enough space to spread out makes it very difficult to navigate and find space. EPCOT has a lot more room to work with, so I guess it makes sense. But, a learning experience none-the-less!

    Love your content and I for one seriously hope that you don't censor yourself. These parks are incredibly expensive for out of towners and I appreciate your honesty. If you're not having the experience you expect when you're paying so much for a ticket, I don't see anything wrong with you sharing your honest opinion. That's what reviewers do. If people have a problem with that then they shouldn't watch. It's not like it's just a one time thing. If "the happiest place on earth" isn't making you so happy I appreciate knowing that before I waste all my vacation money on a family trip to somewhere that wasn't worth it when there's other parks that are doing better. You're not the only person noticing the Disney experience isn't cutting it lately. Please keep giving us your honest perspective, whichever way it may fall.

I will not lead people in a fake direction, but I just don't like when we have multiple negative reviews at the park. It just feels bad, because we love the parks and just want them all to succeed! There's a lot of great things at the parks, so sometimes it's just specific things that may not be great, to be fair.

    I personally find that your more critical videos help me make informed decisions. I can't imagine spending thousands with the intention of doing the 4th at MK and then not seeing anything and having a bad experience. With that said, I also do get (and appreciate!) that you don't enjoy being negative. There are two youtubers I've stopped following specifically because they started exclusively posting negative videos and the criticisms were super unfair and nitpicky.

    • @Dillon.Thomas
      @Dillon.Thomas  3 місяці тому

      I think that's the big thing, I don't want people to see our recent content and assume we're generally negative. As I feel like we're very positive and enjoy our time at the parks always. But I also don't want to inform someone who will drop serious money on a trip and expect something COMPLETELY different because someone said it was something that it wasn't, or just not having any prior knowledge on the situation in general. I think it's unfair to blame companies for things out of their control as well, for example the weather and the stale air causing the cloudiness so you couldn't see much of the fireworks is literally NOBODIES fault. It's just an unfortunate situation that you have to keep in mind could happen with Florida weather 😅 We really think we just had a few rough instances, and I'm hoping most things moving forward should be positive and fun!

    Several years ago, our theme park had a celebration. And as you entered a themed section they blocked you into that section. So around 8pm to 9 pm you could only move around that one themed section. It did prevent sluggish crowd movements and people were warned from the moment of park opening to fireworks that this was going to happen. I used to love Disney. Not so much anymore. Local parks are offering so much more these days.

    I definitely miss living right behind the park and being able to see the fireworks every night (almost 15 years ago when they actually put effort into putting on a good show). When I worked at Disney I accidentally brought my radio home with me one night, so I started scrolling through the different channels and stumbled upon the Pyrotechnic department channel and was able to listen to them coordinate all the fireworks as I watched from my backyard. Haha it was pretty interesting. Sucks that it has gotten to this point.

    I haven't been to any of the parks for July 4th - except way back in 1976 (it was fantastic). I'm usually home or away during the 4th these days.
    Are those glasses prescription also? I know they are transitional. They connect to the iPhone fore recording? I will have to check them out when I get back.
    Honestly, I haven't found you overly negative at all. You continue to tell it the way it is - good and bad. Disney is by no means perfect, and coming from someone that has been there since '71, even I am becoming annoyed at some things I have experienced at Disney. Disney is definitely dropping the ball at times, and hopefully they get their act together. The fact that you are honest on your channel makes your channel stand out over the others.
    Unfortunately, there is no accounting for rude people. Thanks for sharing as always. Be well.

      @Sir-Ray we did universal last year and MK this year, I think we may try EPCOT next year or just do a local town.
      You can get them with prescriptions in there! I don't have glasses, so I just have them as regular shades. But you can definitely add the prescription. 👍
      Well, I appreciate the kind words. I feel like sometimes I'm editing a video, and at the time, I'm just speaking my mind, our experience, etc, and then I realize it sounds negative, but it's just our experience. So then I'm like, dang, we're genuinely friendly and positive people, so I don't want people to think we're something else. But I also don't want to lie to the viewer about the experience we have and what they could/should expect. You've got so much insight since you've been going for a while, so I'm sure you understand it the most. You've been able to see the good, the bad, and the ugly, haha. A lot of people enjoy watching us for our honesty and I never want to deviate from that, mostly because I can't stand watching other people lie about something, because you can also not be crazy rude about how bad something is and still express distaste for it. Thanks for sharing this. Appreciate your honesty. That woman and the stroller sounds like a nightmare. The rudest encounters I’ve had at Disney have been at MK. Not sure why it brings out the worse in some people. Don’t think I would do MK on the 4th but I think the Poly would be fun. I think they limit it to hotel guests only so that would be what I would do if I was there or maybe universal.

    • @Dillon.Thomas
      @Dillon.Thomas  3 місяці тому

      We did Poly one year on the 3rd and it was great! The 4th they really lock it down, as they don't want the actual guests of the hotels to lose their availability to see the shows for the big holidays like that. It's funny, there were actually a LOT more experiences we had waddling through the crowds, but I was just shocked she did that. And it wasn't like accidental bumping, like it was just ramming her stroller into me. But you are SUPER right, it's ALWAYS Magic Kingdom. VERYYYY rarely do I have those experiences at the other Disney parks. Not sure what it is about that park, but it gets messy lol.

      @@Dillon.Thomas yes! I appreciate that it would be locked down for sure. That's why I would do it on the 4th for the limited capacity. And I am glad you agree it's always MK. Its become my least favorite park because of that. I actually only want to go now if its a party day or an after hours event. • @Dillon.Thomas
      @Dillon.Thomas  3 місяці тому

      @@karencolglazier8427 We'll see if they cap it at some point in the future, but I imagine they would have a lot of guests complaints if that were the case, too. Kind of a lose/lose. I don't like how hard it is to get into MK either, I think the fact you can't park there and you HAVE to take an extra step of transportation also really hurts it. Leaving takes EXTRA long because you wait for the either the monorail, ferry or bus. I wonder if the MK crowd is rough because it's typically the "one park" option. If someone's stopping at Disney before a cruise, or just one day or what not, they always choose MK. So it probably just drives more "newcomers" and more people are trying to get their "one days worth" of a ticket? Definitely curious why it's the case!

    I understand your feeling of not wanting to be negative. It's unfortunate that your negative experiences are not happening in a bubble, unfortunately WDW just isn't what it used to be. WDW is bigger than ever with so much to see and do it is a true shame that the current management are squandering decades of good will that Disney as a brand has built up. I am a lifetime Disney fan, I own DVC, we usually are annual pass holders, and frankly I'm just not feeling it like I used too. I haven't changed, the parks, the company in general and the people have changed and not for the better. Keep being honest, if we aren't happy we have to let Disney and other fans know, and we have to vote with our wallets; otherwise they won't make the changes that absolutely have to be made.

    • @Dillon.Thomas
      @Dillon.Thomas  3 місяці тому +1

      It really is too bad, because we love Disney and the parks here in Orlando. But it feels like some of the things going on are DEFINITELY problematic for the consumer. It's kind of a lose/lose situation, to be fair. But I think there's an opportunity for them to still turn things around. Tonight was a situation where a lot of it wasn't actually in Disney's control, so I can't fault them too much for it. But I do think they need to address some of the issues still with crowd control management, the CM's can't do much with what they're working with. I guess we'll see what the future holds!

      It's crazy, because Disney hasn't really been very busy all summer long. And we checked lines during the day and nothing was very long (to be fair it was storming almost all day). But Nicole and I also don't like being packed in, it can make you feel overwhelmed or claustrophobic when there's THAT many people. And they had literally hundreds of employees trying to keep walkways clear and keep the crowds flowing, but a lot of people don't listen to them, and it make it hard. I feel so bad for the CM's during these kinds of days. It's also why we often will go to the back of Main Street since it's typically very open and relaxed. But not today, ha.

    I wonder if the park cutbacks are at least a result of the theatrical bloodbath Disney has experienced over the last few years. Everyone knows the parks are really the only sure-fire moneymakers for Disney nowadays (with maybe the cruises a close second), so they can "afford" to be robbed of revenue to help shore-up other flagging sectors.
    I watched a livestream of Universal's 4th and everyone seemed to be having a good time. It's a shame they're constrained like they are so that they can't put on a fireworks show to rival Disney, but they try to even the scales in other ways.
    I think Iger is well on his way to ruining his legacy at this point, with bad Epcot decisions, a sour movie division, the Halcyon being an utter flop, Marvel being run into the ground, Lucasfilm with their myriad of problems, having to defend against a barrage of lawsuits, etc. Disney desperately needs new leadership. Perhaps Chapek should be given a second chance?

    • @Dillon.Thomas
      @Dillon.Thomas  3 місяці тому

      I have no idea what is the issue with Disney at the moment. Genuinely. What I report is just what I see as a consumer, I have no insight to anything behind closed doors, unfortunately.
      That said, I do know we loved Universal's 4th of July celebration last year, it was a lot of characters roaming around, music, and just a good vibe. It's not as "grandiose" as Disney, but it was a LOT more comfortable. So it's not to say Disney or Universal are better than one another, because it depends on what you are looking for.
      It's a shame, because we don't know the timeline of much, we hear of a lot of bad Chapek era issues, but I've also heard some of that was put into place by Iger before he left. But I don't know what's factual or not. It does seem like we were expecting Iger to come in and solve some of the glaring issues we had as consumers, but it looks like we're not quite getting there. New leadership could help, but it seems like the biggest concern for Disney is that bottom line. It's not as important to show a good guest experience like it once was. That's why I think Universal is getting a lot of praise from the community. They're delivering more to the consumer at the parks which they KNOW is where they're succeeding well. Disney isn't investing in the parks like they should/could. And it's starting to show. Heck, even Busch and SeaWorld are adding new things dang near EVERY year...

    Oh YEA I was about to point out the heavily tilted negative Disney content versus the overly positive Universal content that has been what has been posted here. I mean really, that Universal parade wand is the "coolest" park thing in a very long time... really? The wand is another cash grab. Almost seems like your angle is to catch the eye of Universal for Epic Universe access. I mean we all have our own park tastes but really the heavily tilted pro Universal is biased to the highest level. I follow other Universal folks who are just as critical with Universal as they are with Disney. And just to say I do enjoy your style of content but the most recent batch has been *side eye. But with any opinionated channel comes opinions like mine. I am looking forward to your HHN content, if you can believe it.

      God forbid people actually honestly call out Disney, the epitome of soulless corporation who doesn’t care about you

      Well if you go JUST beyond our most recent videos at Disney, you'd find we're genuinely happy people at every park. The unfortunate part has been that the past 3 big things we've done at Disney recently have felt really bad.
      1. Communicore Hall - I haven't found a single person that GENUINELY thinks this was a success. Even the hardcore Disney media invite list persons all could hardly find positive things to say about it. If you try and convince me this was a good change that took 5+ years, I'd really think you were lying, unfortunately. This was a hard swing and a miss.
      2. Tiana's - The ride itself, we gave credit to. I thought it wasn't a bad ride overall, the issues people have are valid (theme not being Princess and the frog is a missed opportunity, the amount of "dead space" in the ride is abundantly clear where it shows and the operations have been miserable). I think if the operations of the ride were better, that wouldn't have been a negative experience. But to add a VQ to a ride that never had one is crazy to me, and the fact there's still been multiple days (including the 4th) where it looks like Tiana doesn't even open. To put out an attraction that clearly isn't ready is bizarre. I'd rather them have closed it down till August or September to work the kinks out. But they clearly wanted to capitalize on the summer crowds, so they opened it. It was having technical issues up till the day it opened, and it still is struggling with that now. That's not me being negative or having a bias, that's me stating a very real thing happening.
      3. 4th of July - I acknowledge that some people would not care AT ALL about what we experienced. They would say "That's the 4th at Disney World" and I respect that. But our experience was NOT good, and it wasn't necessarily a Disney problem. It was a crowd problem (which weirdly enough hasn't been much of an issue this summer), and just the madness that ensued. That's not something we like to experience. So, I wouldn't really blame Disney for much of anything that happened tonight, I have no idea what they can do to alleviate the issues we had, other than limit the capacity of the park, or really funnel guests to other areas vs Main Street maybe?
      I'm not trying to catch Universal's eye for access, my channel is much too small to get noticed. But, I've had a lot of VERY good experiences with Universal recently. The nighttime show was fantastic, the DreamWorks land is great and I thought the parade was such an amazing touch to add to their summer offerings. I think a bubble wand having all these interactions is super fun, a kid being able to set off the bubble cart stand to blow bubbles out of a giant container, or interacting with the floats is super cool to me. Nicole wasn't as impressed as I was, and that's ok. I think we haven't had all this "new tech" in the parks recently, so something like that was genuinely neat.
      I will always be honest with our experiences. It's something I feel like I owe to the viewers, as I don't want them to be lead in the wrong direction when they will potentially be dropping THOUSANDS of dollars on a trip to Orlando. If something is good, we express that, if it's bad, we do the same. I 1000% respect your opinions, as that's the beauty of being an individual. But you should also know we aren't shilling for any company. We never go into a video expecting to have a good or bad time, we let the experience determine that. Unless of course we're doing a video specifically about "favorites" or "least favorites" or something of the sort lol.
