Block Island: SEALS and FREEZING my tush off

- Today I leave behind the car and take an adventure 13 miles off the coast of Rhode Island to Block Island. This tiny patch of land was full of wondrous surprises and walking everywhere while exploring was so much fun for me. I had the chance to see a strange variety of animals and really relax. And did you guys see the seals??? My heart, they are so cute! Thank you all for watching!!
That looks so peaceful. It must have been freezing but I think I would like visiting in the winter when there are less people. Thanks for sharing, I hope you share some more videos soon!

Love your video. We would come up from Long Island and walk all around. Remember before they moved the Southeast lighthouse. One year the Viking ferry had a day trip to Newport. On rainy days we visited the library. And the food! Such a beautiful island. Thank you for sharing. Time to go back.

I think the seals lift their bodies off the rocks like that to minimise surface area in contact with the rock to prevent it pulling so much heat out of their bodies.

There's something special about off-season travel. Yes, it's usually either very hot or very cold, many shops, eateries and attractions are closed, and there aren't many people. But on the other hand...there aren't many people, you basically have the place to yourself, you don't feel pressured to take everything in because it's literally not possible--and did I mention that there aren't many people?
I once drove around the Olympic Peninsula of Washington in the dead of winter, right after New Year's. I had a blast. Hotel rates were low and I found a nice place on the rugged coast and enjoyed watching the crashing waves hit the shore rocks. The inland rain forest was magical and not too cold, and the views of the actual mountains was spectacular. You should definitely make it there if you get the chance. A very special place.
I've lived much of my life in the NYC area and have only driven through Rhode Island a couple of times and never stopped to take in the sights. When I finish working on my car soon I hope to take a trip through parts of New England. Probably not till fall though, but this video inspired me to make it happen.
Btw, I guessed either CT or RI given the way you pronounce coffee as caw-fee. Not quite as pronounced as a Boston accent but a bit more than a Yonkers one. The Pats cap was also a tip-off. I hope you're enjoying wherever you are and looking forward to your next videos.

If ever you’re willing to venture into Canada, I highly recommend checking out Prince Edward Island. Similar vibes to this, but with red sand and red cliffs! It’s magical.

Agreed, it was completely empty, which was nice for the nature areas but gave you a weird feeling in town.
Years ago, I stayed there for a few days, in a ridiculously pricey and rather run-down hotel room. The room was disappointing but Block Island itself was fantastic. Surprised you didn't take your car on the car ferry. Maybe next time!
I definitely chickened out when if came to driving my car on to the ferry. I would like to work up the courage next time to drive it so I can see more of the island!

Definitely not! I only saw the southern half of the island. In the North there are a few hikes and other areas I wanted to check out. I would do at least 2 days.
