    This has performed exactly as desired ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx8G49mV71sAzUl9shXyLW-r3XgHH9EVh1 . Basically, instant hot water instead of waiting up to two minutes as it was before. I have had this installed almost exactly one year now and just replaced the anode which is pictured. I pulled it out at six months and cleaned the heating element and removed debris. I would recommend a cleaning every six months and an anode replacement yearly. A mild citric acid and water solution soak really helps clean the heating element and tank. It must be fully disassembled to do the cleaning and that is not difficult but could have been made easier with a couple of design changes but no big deal.

      MASS Aquariums what Gallon size is that tank? I just got a 38 gallon marineland bow front tank from Petsmart. I'm new to the aquarium world, but I really want a peaceful tank just like yours in this video. Also, I want angelfish in my tank, so how many do you think I could put in there? Also, what are the other fish in your tank?

    i am a beginner and what i really want to know is:
    1. which fish is best for beginners ( tough kind of fish since i will surely do a lot of mistakes like overfeeding them or changing their water too soon or too late)
    2. which plants are easier to maintain ( artificial or real plants). and if artificial plants, do i need herbivore fish to help clean the artificial plant from time to time?
    3. which types of fishes will be best to be put together ( do not fight amongst themselves) including herbivores or janitor fishes if needed?
    4. if i use tap water to set a fresh water aquarium up, what do i do to remove the potential chlorine in the water. do i add some medicine or anything to make the water healthier for the fish?
    5. how do i add the fish? do i scoop them out and drop them in the tank? or do i put the dirty water they came in with in the tank with them thus making the clean water tank dirty?
    6. how often do i clean or change the water in the tank?
    7. how often do i feed the fish? if i got like 7 fishes in there, how do i make sure each of them get enough food and not that one or two are eating all the food i am dropping in for them.
    8. is there like vitamins for the fish? or do they need any vitamins like the cats and dogs do?
    you see, for me these are the basic questions of a beginner. a real beginner. i would be very very thankful if you make a video answering these questions. i will subscribe on your channel just in case you decided to answer my questions. thanks.

    Hey Mike, thanks for the great videos and for being so helpful! I just have a quick question: this is my first tank and I want to include live plants. should I plant them before i start to cycle, or wait until the tank is cycled to start planting? Also I'm wondering when I do my water changes during the cycle if I should pre-treat the water before adding it in or can i add in tap water then add the dechlorinator? Is dechlorinator the only chemical you use pretty much when cycling a new tank? Many thanks, Mike

    • @MASSAquariums

    Hello,
    so I do have a few questions, I've had a 29g freshwater tank for about 3 years. I do have live plants in the tank, and they all seem to be doing well, but I want them to do better. i use liquid fertilizer and CO2. the majority of the plants have been in the tank for over a year. however I don't have a "substrate" I just have a medium sized light brown river rock. I've been thinking about trying an appropriate substrate to help my plants. how do I go about changing what I have to a good substrate? what brands do I buy? and how do I layer the substrate, are there multiple layers? thank you for help:)

    • @MASSAquariums
      @MASSAquariums  8 років тому +2

      You can simply add pea gravel with root tabs or add like a flourite capped with some gravel. Take the fish out and drain most of the water then add the substrate water and let the filter run for a bit then add the fish back in. Make sure to rinse the substrate good before you add it.

    I got 10 gallon tank and was thinking about getting one male betta and some neon tetras. Do you think this is a good idea to put betta and neons together? What would be the best number of neons to put in the 10 gallon with a betta? Also, as I understand I need a filter, heater, and lighting. Is there anything else that those fishes might need? Any aeration for neons, or filter is enough for them? Additionally, I plan to cycle the tank with few neons, then add more of them and finally add betta. How long do you think the cycling will take for my tank and how many neons should I put for cycling? I was thinking maybe 4 of them and after cycling to add 3 or 4 more. I know that’s a lot of questions, but I really hope you can answer them because I want to create a good environment for my fishes and make sure they live long.

    Hi. I'm about to purchase my first tank. I will be putting freshwater fish. I been doing some research and came across your channel. So much useful advice. I fell in love with the Black Molly. What other fish can i put Mollies with? and also I read that driftwood is bad for Mollies, is this true? Thank you and keep up the good work.

    personally i base the heat wattage on type of fish
    i did intense research on each fish
    every fish is a little different with care
    with a goldfish prefer colder but get it to cold and there organs can shut down do your research for any animal even if its something small as a fish

    Wow that's such a nice looking fish tank I love it it looks so beautiful also speaking of witch I miss looking at fish through the tanks best part of my life as a young child it was always so fascinating to see the fish swimming around in thier own little spaces around a big giant fish tank of course also wish I could actually own my very own fish tank so that way whenever I have like a crappy day or something where people wont leave me alone and just keep on bugging me I can just turn to my tank and it would just easily brighten up my day as watching the fish swimming around in nice cold bubbley water would just take my mind off of annything stressful and it would instantly soothe me because of how beautiful the sight of seeing all those different species of fish swimming around it would just be so amazing

  • @okidoke4822
    @okidoke4822 6 років тому +4

    It depends on your fish whether you need a heater. All the fish I own love cold water. And it's not what up "to you" sometimes, it's up to what sort of fish you have. Dechlorinator is only relevant if you use tap water, but not it you use rain water. You can buy bacteria starter liquid too, so your fish can go in practically straight away. I've never lost any fish with my methods.

    Great video. Awesome job. I was given an aquarium and when they brought it over it was all apart. Some fish were in bowl (5) one was dead (the smallest) and the rest were weak and ready to die. First thing was adding water to the bowl which instantly revived three of them. The biggest one was very weak. Thought it was a gonner. But after adding more water it finally pulled through.
    My problem is because everything was taken apart is... I have no clue on how it even begins to go back together. Which I will figure out. But.... I might have to resort to buying some new stuff. I would liked to have seen a couple of the products you were talking about especially of the filters.
    If I really wanted an aquarium I would have bought one.
    But these people I just met were moving

    • @mjacques100
      @mjacques100 3 роки тому

      Excuse me. I accidently sent it before I finished. They moved and left the aquarium with someone else to give to me. I wasn't expecting any complications. It looked absolutely beautiful in their house. All of a sudden it looks like a disaster. Can I put the fish into the aquarium right away cuz they were already living in it.?
