I kept discus about 6 months after getting into fishkeeping. Weekly water changes, lots of plants, about 86°F, food twice a day, and I had some happy, healthy fish. They're super personable, and each one is a unique character. Unfortunately, the tank wasn't level and broke. Everyone survived, but as I didn't have a backup tank at the time, I put them in buckets and sold them back to the store I got them from. 10/10 would keep again, and highly recommend them to any diligent keeper.
@@Aaroncaleb77 the discus were bad, but then a few months later the tank with my H. malabaricus busted. Moving a 15" angry meat tube with teeth on the fly is not fun 😅 These days all my tanks have heckin thiccc foam mats under them!

Great video guys! I’m glad that you mentioned that there’s more rainbowfish than Boseman’s Rainbowfish. Those aquarium strain fish aren’t the standard.
I keep Electric Blue Acara, Angel fish and Turkana Jewel Cichlids in a 55gal. There’s enough color in the tank to make a rainbow and it’s always fun to watch.
Electric blue acara is a very nice fish. If yo want to keep a little bigger fish its a perfect choise. It is very calm for a ciclid. Like Oscar fish they are like water puppies.
Actually cherry barbs are an endemic fish species to my country sri lanka Even though they are banned to export now because of rapid decresement of the species in the wild , in 1900s lots of them were exported to other countries and now they're a common species in the hobby How facinating
Wow! I am today years old and just found out the Florida Flag fish is a member of the killifish family??? I've known about Florida Flag fish for years but had no idea they were killifish. 🤔 Love learning new things. 👍💖👍
Get daisy's blue rice fish instead of neons.... not as vibrant, but same colors and they move better... and no heater needed so their is less to hide in the scape, and you can move them outdoors in summer and rescape and recycle their indoor tank every year while they are outside
Jewels are the most common non-rift african cichlid, and are my favourites. But watch out, since they can overrun your tank with fry,and since they are common and cheap, nobody will take them. They also have high agression levels.
I love the 2 cichlids you mentioned. Nice fish. But my tanks are too small. I don’t keep them in 55/65 gallon tank. European recommendation is at least 80 gallons. Better 100 gallons.
LOL! Not really...but it depends on what you pair them with. In some cases, like if the fish are slow and do not have an area of their own, that could happen. For these, it is best to keep them with fish that are equal or larger in size, fast swimming, and preferably in a tank large enough to where all of the fish have a little space of their own.
Guppies are nice fish to keep in your tank expecely neon techra very beautiful but unfortunately for i can't have them into my tank because i have cichlids and you know that cichlids are very mean i have sevrums thanks for your update video ❤👍🏼👍🏼
Most of it I have it from my High school days, but what i can see here is you don't have Frontoza, Aurelius, Flower horn, Arowana, sword fish, jewel Gourami, Rose barb, Red tail shark, Neon Barb, Red eyed sword fish, Albino fish red eyes, yellow /black spoted Dragon fish, .. as I remember but cool fish god bless
@@joshlamb9443 No, I just got them a couple weeks ago. They are supposed to be dull colored. The ones that survived are colored up now, but you have to look really close to see the blue and yellow.
Jason Tejada ... I bought some zebra danios last year. One of them looked like he/she had a fungus growing on him/her? I asked at my supplier and was told there are two varieties. Apparently he/she was a long finned danio. So I guess that answers you question about the tetras.
I would not recommend African jewel cichlids to anyone. Why? In junior high school our teacher asked us to bring in a fish for a community aquarium. After a couple weeks the only fish left was the jewel cichlid. It even killed the cory I had brought to class. Best kept by themselves.
Yes. And a single pair is all you can keep. Maybe two pairs in a big tank. In my experience a pair should have its own tank. And then they'll make tons of babies no one wants.
Sorry to be a nerd, but I think the Hemichromis that you have highlighted as Bimaculatus is actually Exsul. Bimacs tend to carry the lateral black spot and far more electric blue speckling. I have a group of Turkanas (Exsul) and they are amazing fish.
Soon, there is going to be the rapture. It's when there will be trumpet sounds, and after the trumpet sounds, God will lift his people from here. Also, God said people should be living by the Bible. He will welcome you with arms wide open.❤ ❤* John 3:16 - "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him shall not perish but have eternal life". ❤❤
You missed an entire genus of fish that look better than all the fish you have shown. They are Aulonocara aka Peacocks. Very disappointing and shows you are a "Chain" store guy.

I really enjoyed keeping Scarlet Gem Badis and Green Fire Tetra's.

A tank breaking is the biggest nightmare for everyone 💀💀

List:
1. Guppy
2. Neon tetras
3. Discus
4. Rams
5. Betta
6. Rainbowfish
7. Killifish
8. Cherry barbs
9. Jewel Cichlid
10. Electric blue Acara
I kept 8 cherry barbs after seeing them recommended on the coop. They have quickly become one of my favorites, and they weren’t afraid of me at all.
Loved my jewel cichlids back in the day. Awesome fish
Finally I hear someone pronounced the betta the proper way. I love your business I check it all the time.
I think Galaxy Rasboras deserve a honorable mention. They are small, but man, I have a school of 10 of them and they are just awesome looking fish.
I absolutely love rainbow fish.
Happy birthday Zenzo!!!!
I have my nano tank FULL of chili rasboras and they just have colored up and man they are RED!
Great video guys! I’m glad that you mentioned that there’s more rainbowfish than Boseman’s Rainbowfish. Those aquarium strain fish aren’t the standard.
Thank you very much for this very interesting video.
Peacock gudgeons are also pretty cool colorful fish
THEY ARE MY FAVORITE FISH 10000/10 recommend for beginners since the y are so peaceful
So excited for the live stream today
Awesome Video!! Love all these fish 🐠 Happy Birthday Zenzo 💪 🎂

This video is perfect timing, bc I'm currently cycling a 20g long and needed some stocking ideas 😁
Nicely done, Zenzo, et al!
Great video. Thank you. gave me some ideas!
Wow. You really went from zero to sixty... Guppies, Tetras, DISCUS!!!!!!
I'm surprised you didn't go into more of the African Cichlids - those have TONS of almost salt water quality colors
Electric blue acara is a very nice fish. If yo want to keep a little bigger fish its a perfect choise. It is very calm for a ciclid. Like Oscar fish they are like water puppies.
Happy Birthday Zenzo!!!!
I just really like bettas they have so many colors and fin types. I have a giant and a normal plakat

very nice fish
Cardinals are fantastic in a community tank

I love both jewelfish and blue acaras. However, I do not prefer artificially selected color sports, like the EBA.
Yay! TC Guppies!! Great video :)
I like cichlids also guppies but they breed way too much
Love your fish room. How about Severums?
Really appreciate the scientific names!
Happy birthday zenzo
What about celestial pearl danios, female Festae, clown loaches, regular Jack Dempsey, various African cichlids, gold saum, etc.
Jewels are the most common non-rift african cichlid, and are my favourites. But watch out, since they can overrun your tank with fry,and since they are common and cheap, nobody will take them. They also have high agression levels.
What are good soft water fish with low KH preference
I love the 2 cichlids you mentioned. Nice fish. But my tanks are too small. I don’t keep them in 55/65 gallon tank. European recommendation is at least 80 gallons. Better 100 gallons.
Blue acara and jewel cichlids are plenty small enough that a 40 breeder or 55 is a good choice
@@Zachary360Games you just made my heart jump! Thought Hemichromis are up to 20 cm as Acara.
On the red jewel. Is "quite aggressive" a nice way of saying it will kill everything in your tank?
LOL! Not really...but it depends on what you pair them with. In some cases, like if the fish are slow and do not have an area of their own, that could happen. I love Guppies especially the real varieties
i might be getting guppies soon!
What is that super cool looking fish right at the start after the ember tetras?
Believe that's a Bolivian ram
great vid
Hard to believe a top 10 colorful list and you didn't include one of the most colorful fish out there. The Jack Dempsey ....
They préfet Guppies ahaha
Electric blues have a huge swath of health issues and always have, they don’t make good options for most people.
I love the Dwarf Gourami.
Nice list
Happy birthday big guy!

can u also which one can coexist and which two cannot.
CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME THE FISH SPECIES AT 0:05 (The one with long tail)
What about the hyper blue mutations Dempsey, Acara, Rams etc
Most of it I have it from my High school days, but what i can see here is you don't have Frontoza, Aurelius, Flower horn, Arowana, sword fish, jewel Gourami, Rose barb, Red tail shark, Neon Barb, Red eyed sword fish, Albino fish red eyes, yellow /black spoted Dragon fish, .. as I remember but cool fish god bless
Fish that instantly came to mind which are not on this list are platies, goldfish and African cichlids.
This is awesome
Cardinals are my favorite
Hi guys. Does anyone have tried do have corys along with ramirezi? If yes, do they behave peacefully?
Yes works perfectly. The panda , albino and dwarf Corry's are more fun by the way.
Nice
Haha I have killifish but they are dull colored. They are beautiful lamp eyes
Have you tried switching their food? It may or may not help but worth a shot.
@@joshlamb9443 No, I just got them a couple weeks ago. They are supposed to be dull colored. The ones that survived are colored up now, but you have to look really close to see the blue and yellow.
I’m confused why some species of African Cichlids did not make the list? Some Tropheus are stunning.
I always hear Electric Blue Acaras are man made but never by who…
Does anyone know who’s credited with creating EBA’s?
Would an electric blue acara eat my tropical community fish? Tetras, barbs, guppies; etc?
While not really overly aggressive they might eat small fish, so I'd be very wary of doing that...
Can anyone tell me the difference between congo tetras and longfin congo tetras?
Jason Tejada ... I bought some zebra danios last year. One of them looked like he/she had a fungus growing on him/her? I asked at my supplier and was told there are two varieties. Apparently he/she was a long finned danio. So I guess that answers you question about the tetras.
can I get this online ?
Let’s include the various types of colorful Gouramis and Corydoras.
I just instinctively knew the no.10 fish
Is it just me or does south America and SE Asia have the best tropical fish?
Then again my current tank is just a 20-gallon tank with 2 giant fish. One from SE Asia and one from south America so i could be pretty biased.
Nice bro
0:51 what kind of guppy is that?
I’ve had freshwater fish, but they don’t compare to saltwater. A saltwater tank is like a super car, and the best freshwater tank is like a Lincoln.
I would not recommend African jewel cichlids to anyone. Why? In junior high school our teacher asked us to bring in a fish for a community aquarium. After a couple weeks the only fish left was the jewel cichlid. It even killed the cory I had brought to class. Best kept by themselves.

Zenzo with the Malawi African cichlid tanks in the background and no mention of them as one of the most colorful freshwater fish????????????
Von Rio Tetra/Flame Tetra!

where is dwarf gourami
Gotta be careful with guppies. Before you know it you’ll have thousands lol
Angels took a hit in this one
They cost too much, ten times more than they're worth.
You missed gaurami fish
🐠😍👍
Blood parrot

yawn x trillion
No gold fish?
