I'm your grandma (i.e. her age group) and we wore view number 1 with the mini in the late 60s🌹And I loved how it looked and felt. Love your videos Lydia❤️❤️❤️
I also love the fashion of the 60s. These suits short jackets with mini skirts were fabulous. But honestly, if you are still slim and you can wear them, why not? I personaly don't care about what is on trend or not. To me what is "on trend" always is what I like and suits me.
I love the educational spin on your channel. It’s so refreshing from typical fashion UA-camrs who are just doing hauls and pushing new products. Many of us busy have lives and just want someone to tell us what looks good 😅 you are the best resource I’ve found ❤
So pleased to hear they’re back in the spotlight, the wide trouser and cropped jacket is soooo much more flattering for my short legs 😂 grateful after years of blazers and skinnies!!
@amandaamanda5398 I agree, shorter women are sometimes looked at as childlike. Very irritating especially in the workplace! But,,, the cropped jacket is actually a beacon of sophistication! Think Coco Channel, the original style guru. The collar-less tweedy version is perfect for work, whether it's a suit or just the jacket with a skirt or trousers.
I loved this video because this length of jacket suit me much better than longer jackets. All your tips are really useful and I can easily identify now why an outfit will not work. Love your videos! 🥰
Advice from a grandma: you are demonstrating the 1/3 - 2/3 rule of proportion. If you have 1/3 of your vertically visual clothing on top, then wear 2/3 on the bottom and balance the fit. As in cropped jacket with longer skirt. You got it!
I think so much before buy something new now... I always think if I can wear it years and years to come... I think I have learned so much with your videos that I'm dressing and feeling better dressed now... I had a lot of possible combinations with clothing I already have that I didn't knew it will work...
Thank you so much for this video! I wanted one of these cropped off white tweed/boucle jackets so desperately. I thrifted one and updated it with gold & mother of pearl buttons, but I did not like how it looked with the usual mini dress. I felt defeated and it hung in the closet ever since. I just tried it with a tucked in thin slate gray knit and navy flared trousers and I love it. I will get to wear it a lot now thank you for this video.
Great video and your scarf looks lovely. Is there any possibility you could do a video on how to wear / tie scarves of different sizes and materials ( wool / silk) that would be so helpful 😊
Very helpful. The images you showed us illustrated your points clearly. It is hard to talk about the nuance of a well put together outfit and one that is problematic.
Lydia, this is so valuable right now. The store are filled with the cropped Chanel jackets. My mom taught me how to do proportions just the same as this video. Basically it's long over short, or short over long. Short over short looks too skimpy, and long over long looks sloppy. Of course you explain it better!
Lydia, you are the best fashion educator out there! I enjoy your reels on insta as well as your longer videos here, they are concise, perfectly illustrated, full of useful info. And you have such a stylish and well put together wardrobe that I aspire to! My personal style has improved so much since I found you, keep up the great work!
Thank you! I’ve just bought a fantastic cropped tweed jacket in turquoise in the Luisa Spagnoli sale. At age 69, with white hair, I certainly don’t want to look like a grandmother. I am thinking straight leg black leather trousers or white jeans. Thanks for the tips
Lydia, I just love you! You’re always posting in synchronicity with clothing questions I’ve had recently. Like literally not even 10 minutes ago I was thinking about how I would wear a cropped jacket I have and then see this ❤ xoxo
Truly a friendlier shape for us petite women. Thank you!! I'm only 5'1 and even though I love the comfort of oversized pieces, I look like I'm drowning in my clothes.☹️ I'm really implementing a lot of the advice you provide, and I find I look more polished and put together, yet fun and fresh. Thanks again! Could you please make a video dedicated to us, very short/ small framed women?? Please!🙏 How would we best wear the current trends?
No denim jeans for me after. 40 only in straight style in twill gabardine ligh wool stretc1h qàuality fabrics I am petite,105 pounds Asian and the crop jacket Chanel or Blazer style is my favorite in black solid or darker shades in jewel tones and custom tailored quality without the prize range of the brand name I am ninety now still wearing these classics to add oomph scarves costume jewelry and a touch of ethnicity and for Americana look the cowboy western touch Boots and all Always in high heels of all sorts of Styles FUN!!
I love structured, tailored clothing. I always opt for the most elegant version of choices in my wardrobe. I never wear denim, unless gardening or horse riding. Loved this inspiration session for cropped jackets. I have three - one vintage 1960s cream & gold - that I can start teaming in a much more stylish way now, thanks to you! I, for one, would really like to see some educational sessions on vintage pieces...
To a size 4_to 6_e,xcept during pregnancy I am 91 now and belong to old school of classic fashion sense Chanel is my favorite of all had my jackets costume tailored to fit my budget pants and palazzos I prefer the now skinny and jeans are not for me However whatever one feels best in their own style and taste then go for it Thanks
No matter what is trending I never included the skinny jeans in my wardrobe...I think they have a cheap looking, besides you have to be extremely skinny to get away with it....thank God the trousers are back, it looks so relaxed and classy...great video 👏
Lydia, would it be possible to do a similar dos and don’t video about fitted blazers? It seems that those are coming back too - I have a few in my collection from many years ago but not sure how to style. Thanks so much!! ❤
I love this thank you, I have a few of these so this is very helpful. I absolutely love the lemon one you are wearing and putting the scarf that way. I love feminine classy fashion, it’s great to see this back.
I went to Massimo Dutti today and bought one of their cardigans. It’s not a store I regularly shop so I loved the recommendation to check out their sweaters. Thank you!
Yesss! I love a good Lesson with Lydia. Always enjoy your style theories behind the outfits. The “why” behind the wear is such a fascinating psychology. Great vid!
I'm following your channel since long and I'm so glad to see your fresh and innovating ideas in terms of styling! Thank you and congrats is all I can say!💕⭐💗👏👏
It’s so funny. I was thinking earlier today about how to style my cropped jackets/blazers. 😊 Your video couldn’t have come at a better time! Thank you very much. ❤
Lovely content as always!!! I would like to propose that you try to create a reel or video on how to style ultra crop jackets -shorter than the ones you showed on this video- like the ones who end just below the bust and above the waistline.❤
Very happy if I can find cropped jackets and cardigans more easily than rummaging in every thrift store and charity shop to find one! they are my favorite jackets!
For us long torso and short legs gals...go a 3/4 sleeve and cropped jacket esp boxy ...with an A line midi/ maxi...skirt or straight slim or very high waisted bell pants.....magic!!! Godspeed Dee California
I like the stylistic effect of cropped jackets & the Chanel style, but I hate the traditional Chanel material of old grandma couch/curtains. It's hideous to me but I love the cut. A crop jacket with boot cut, straight, or wide leg jeans or trousers are so elegant.
Great tips, as always! Could you do a video on how to wear Mary-janes (I'm referring to flat ballet-like ones)? I recently purchased a pair, and I am so happy that they're available again(!!), but I struggle with pairing them, not wanting to look too feminine or girly. It would be much appreciated! Your style is amazing!
And finally a t-shirt under an haute Chanel jacket is great for giving what can be quite a mumsy garment a more youthful vibe. I would avoid the scarf, both the big one which fights with and swamps the cropped look, and the silk scarf wrapped around the neck. I own quite a few Hermès scarves, and stylistically their sportier styling (in the classic sense) is incongruent with any Chanel-style jacket.
💯% agree that an ordinary workhorse type tee (that swings slightly shape skimming) is the smart way to modernise this matronly 🤶 old 💲money cropped jacket. 🤔Think the fussy formality is enlivened by the utility of ordinary cotton, esp. when paired w/a denim bottom. 👖 I don't do jeans, but I could envision swapping it for a straighter maxi skirt. Finished off w/a classic white leather sneaker too. 😉I also saw a woman pull off a more activewear casual look in a cropped corporate suit set. Under the racy red jacket she donned a body-hugging wafer thin navy zippered hoodie pullover, & tucked it into the matching knee length pencil skirt. It was a slightly tweedy texture w/tiny threaded navy & yellow dots. She added navy slip-on leather Vans & a petite leather backpack/purse. Maybe not something you'd wear to an office, but it definitely constituted streetwear 🆒️ chic that gave an ageless vibe. 😃I like the scarf that Lydia wears in the thumbnail👌. Again, I think that elegance plays well w/the casual outfit that she styled. 💚Bridget from Cali☘️ (using my pal's YT acct)
Would be very interesting to watch about sporty crop jackets with shoulder pads, and in general about shoulder pads … bought very sporty wool cropped bomber jacket in Zara, but have little idea what to match it with 😔
Thanks Lydia, funny I JUST got that Massimo Dutti cardi! And I love it. Could you do a video on the different types of jeans and how to style. It seems the loser low rise jeans are all in the shops at the moment. Thank you
✨️Lydia: Love your Do/Don't visuals📷 & smart analysis. You're helping sharpen my style 💪muscles on details I might've overlooked, & challenge me to suspend my disbelief. 🤯Never thought I'd pick the look that came closest to "lady who lunches🍽 " 〰️esp since I hate🤬 creamy off-white & don't wear jeans👖〰️ but the look w/the scarf is perfection💋. 🤗Skirts are my jam, so thanks for including the maxi that could've come straight outta my closet. Next time: how about a tea length pleated skirt & knee length pencil (or a-line skirt). Appreciate inspo to make stuffy corp suit-sets more casual. 💚Bridget from Cali☘️ (using my pal's YT acct)

Yep totally agree. Chanel 60s style jacket and mini is the way forward IMHO.
Maybe just a slightly longer mini skirt, just above the knee? That's more of a 1965 vibe
But you might have been 20 years old or younger when you wore that! It isnt a grown up look today though, for an adult woman.
I love the educational spin on your channel. It’s so refreshing from typical fashion UA-camrs who are just doing hauls and pushing new products. Many of us busy have lives and just want someone to tell us what looks good 😅 you are the best resource I’ve found ❤

My legs are short too. But I feel people don't take me seriously when I wear cropped jacket... :-(
This pear shaped short legged woman agrees.
I stick to crops mostly because of my petite size and mentained my weight

A few months ago I found a beautiful vintage cropped jacket at a vintage shop so that goes to show that you're right it is a timeless piece

I actually like the combo of pairing skinny jeans with a cropped jacket. It tones down the outfit while still looking sleek and smart.

Hello Lydia, I would love to have a series about body shape, it would be great for a lot of your viewership ❤ big love from Canada 🇨🇦
If you are short waisted, a top not tucked it can be flattering if it is quite fitted.

Can you cover how to wear ribbed knitted dresses with out wear please? ❤
I really love your content.
Love the crop jackets,big deal 60s and 70s 😊
Great video
😊. This grandma has never worn a lady jacket, but it’s never too late. ❤
Hello 💖 stylo 👏👏 😚 Madrid
Lydia, do you think someone with a larger stomach, can wear a crop jacket? If so, how would you style it? Great video!
I would go with a darker jacket. A pattern would camouflage your tummy, but don't go super large on the pattern. Make sure the jacket is roomy enough to cover the front of your body.
Goes to the cellar and pulls out her two cropped jackets and one cardi 😁
Thank you
Very clear explanations of balance and silhouette ( without sounding like a style-hitler); thank you Lydia 🤓
Thank you another great video. I was just looking at a new cropped jacket, thanks for the tips ❤
