I was always interested in amoeba... I taught that they live in lakes, because I heard of brain eating amoeba, but as you mentioned they're not all the same. Thank you for the wonderful video!
Oliver, it appears that your amoeba at ~4:15 and ~3:06 have a fungal infection. You can see what appear to be yeast/fungal cells protruding from the organism.
Hi I purchased a microscope yesterday and the objectives are 4x10xand 45x and the eyepiece are 10xand 15x my question is can I see bacteria and other micro creatures ❤️
Another great videos, AMOEBAE looking similar to white blood cells, it would be interesting to compare them, maybe an idea for a video. I will give a try with rotten wood tip, never thought of that, Thanks :)
Just wondering .. And from your previous video from the washbasin.. If you would have left that material (which you had observed to be bacteria) for some more days under heat and some moisture, .. Would have those "bacterias" would then start fusing together to form larger structures which we are calling amoeba .. But are those smaller different shapes and forms coming together to form larger life? A larger life .. That is now moving similar to those smaller lifes ?
i found a big amoeba, seen almost covering the hole i guess you could call it place i was looking at in 40-100x on my amscope b120c. i mixed dirty plant water with soft moist moss and found it, it moved quick enough to easily see, any idea what type it is?
I have seen amoeba only once, in my 2and half year experience... same as shown in the video... they were difficult to find! I luckily found it in stagnant rain water, in July 2019 in a jar.. Thank you so much Oliver for this trick.. I will definitely try it!! Amoebas are very interesting protozoa...
Two questions... 1) how many amoebas on lettuce? 2) risk of amoeba from lettuce, i eat, entering my brain? Edit Maybe if I eat an n. fowleri, laugh, it goes up my nose? en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naegleria_fowleri
Soil is a good place to try, but it might again take time to find the amoeba tests. I was once lucky and found many of them in a water sample. Conditions must be right.
It is DIC, but oblique will produce a similar result. Everything looks gray because the cells are not pigmented (except the one towards the end of the video, which looks like a fried egg). When you look at plant, algae etc then they will look green because of the chloroplasts. I can change the background color, however.

Many thanks Oliver, that's an interesting idea, I will be trying it soon :-)
Fantastic videos! I'm a student teacher and sharing this will all my university cohort.
New subbie here! I just ordered a Swift 380t, can't wait to start my microscopy journey. Your videos are so much fun!!
U fullfilled my wish after 3-4 months
2:30 what a technique! Why didn't I think of this!?
Great Tips, truly hard microbe to find (even white blood cells!)
But hey, thís is interesting and at least for me, a video full of new knowledge! And helpfull too, indeed a great new video here!
Severely underrated
I have never seen amoeba hope to find it soon

❤❤❤❤ good work
Thank You
It looks like you were able to get that DIC! I hope so! I can't wait for you to make a video about it :)
I have a toy microscope 😂 but it work well ! So clear. I have seen paramecium with it. I have never seen amoeba. Can I find it in winter season?
The video that I made was in winter. You have to put the wood into water at room temperature. The amoeba will then start to grow.
Yea I also like microscope and I am interested in microscope I will buy a microscpe

Technically white blood cells like neutrophils and macrophages are indeed amoeboid when they transform into their killing form.
I did degree in biology, I only ever saw one amoeba!
Very nice thank you.

I always been curious about how different looks an oxidized gray out banana vs a yellow one 😍😍😍
very nice video, could you please make more tutorials on how to find micro organisms
What setting of microscope was used ?
Thanks for the movie! Which company did you use the microscope objective?
Sir the wood you take on wood there is lichen? Because I can't make difference between lichen and mosses please tell me please
Actually it does not matter if the wood has moss or lichens. In both cases the wood is old. Moss is green.
@@Microbehunter ok thanks 😊
awesome video, is there a way to tell between good and bad amoeba?
Yes snort them like you would cocaine.
Hello. What microscope and camera did you use to film this great video?
An Olympus microscope with DIC and Canon DSLR camera.

So I am see moving staff only with time lapse?
