    My first born had lost more weight than they liked and we had to stay at the hospital an extra day to get his weight up. Thankfully the day we were scheduled to leave the hospital a different LC came to see me and she help out tremendously! She had me use my pump at the hospital, which no one else offered to do before. She had me use what I was able to express with the pump and she brought in formula milk to finish his feeding. Having a LC that really cares helped a lot. If she was able to be there earlier I believe my feedings and my baby’s weight would have went a lot better. I went back to the hospital to see her and she continued to help me with anything else I needed.

    Can a lactation consultant determine visually if you have a forceful letdown/oversupply vs. an undersupply? I was positive that I had an undersupply with last baby but as I was watching another youtuber, some of the symptoms of forceful letdown sounded like me. Perhaps I was doing the exact wrong thing for my problem last time. Baby had all the wet diapers but wasn't gaining weight to my pediatrician's satisfaction. When I would go to a consultant, the scale would show he wasn't transferring as much as one would hope.....even after he had his tongue tie corrected.

    Hi! Could you do a video on breastfeeding & pumping for first time moms. I plan to breastfeed but will have to go back to work in office 3 days a week at 12 weeks so I am going to need to learn how to balance the pumping with breastfeeding. Your videos are super helpful so Id love to hear tips on this from you! Thank you for doing these videos!

    They had me feed the baby and pump right after when my baby lost too much weight at 2 days old. So she had my breast and a bottle. It was stressful and left for little sleep. Neither one of my daughters were at their birthweight by 2 weeks, it took about 3 for them. We ended up needing to supplement with formula.

    Hi Kassi,
    Thanks for your videos. They have been very helpful to me :) I was exclusively pumping(not by my choice) but from last week I wanted to try for the third time feeding her from my breast. I try two feeds a day during the night time becoz thats when she is drousy and it was good starting point for me (im hoping to build up to do morning feed. 3, 4 breast feeds a day)
    My question is, my baby falls asleep quite quickly on the breast. I look at the signs that u mentioned and she is totally relaxed and asleep. So i put her down. Then she will wake up and i give her the expressed milk in the bottle. I was told that she has tongue restriction so she doesnt get the milk out effectively too. (she got her tongue tie snipped on day10 and she is now 7weeks old)
    Any suggestion for falling asleep quickly on breast baby please? Who doesnt seem to get enough milk but sleeps on boobs..

      Congratulations on your success of getting your baby back to the breast. Small wins like this are so amazing. It sounds like you have a lot going on in the beginning of your journey with the tongue restriction, and that may need to be revisited as you get back to direct breastfeeding. It sounds like you could really benefit from working with a lactation consultant in your area.

      I have the same issue :( my baby always fall asleep during feed, when I try to detach her from my breast she pretends to do some little suck. Feeds for around 15-30min.
      Then 30min later she wants to feed again. From the video It sounds like she is not getting enough milk.

    My baby is very active and alert between feeds. He however sleeps off during the feed. Especially at night his hunger cues are more and he keeps asking for feeds all the time. He's better at the morning hours.
    I also hurt when he's feeding.
    His weight gain is slow or static. But he doesn't lose weight. His urine output and poops are good.
    How should I help him out?

      Hi Jennifer, thank you for sharing your story. I would work closely with your pediatrician and hopefully a lactation consultant as well, If he is within his first 6 months of life, he should be gaining 5.5-8.5 oz per week. Sounds like both of you might benefit from a little support from an LC. Wishing your the best!

    What about if my baby pees a lot but doesn’t poop a lot? He poops 1 a day or sometimes doesn’t poop in two days

      Hi Laura, depending on the age of your baby this could be normal. If you have concerns, just run it by your pediatrician

  • @lauvasquez7198

    My babies are slow weight gainers. My third is two weeks old and is now in the same situation slow or no weight gain on the daily weighs. However he poops like 20 times a day or more, basically every time he latches he poops and gets a pee. This is frustrating.

    • @KassiReyes
      @KassiReyes  2 роки тому

      That is tricky and frustrating. As long as your baby is staying on their growth curve, you may not need to worry. But if your pediatrician is concerned, consider working with a lactation consultant to help work though a feeding plan. Some parents chose to have the nutritional value of their milk evaluated as well.

    Could you do a video on what the letdown is, how I know it happened and how I know if my breast is empty. Also, what happens if I switch breasts during a feeding and didn’t empty the other breast. Thanks! Love your videos!

    I ended up supplementing.5 to an oz. On day 3-7 My milk was slow because I had a chest cold the week before birth and took a decongestant 😭

    • @KassiReyes
      @KassiReyes  2 роки тому

      I hope things have improved for you mama. thank you for sharing your story with the community, it is helpful for everyone to be aware that decongestants can dry up milk supply (just like they dry up nasal secretions)

    What if your baby isn’t gaining those ounces yet has lots of output

    • @KassiReyes
      @KassiReyes  2 роки тому

      It depends on the age and stage of your baby. I would talk to your pediatrician if you have any concerns about baby's weight gain. Have a great day :)

    Hmm my breast fed baby poop once every 3 days and my pediatrician said that’s actually normal for breastfed babies

    • @KassiReyes
      @KassiReyes  Рік тому

      Hi Raquel, thanks for bringing this up. This can be normal depending on the age of the baby but isn’t typical or expected in a newborn.
