    Cobb is great, have it on my Jetta GLI. Best thing to do with the Cobb is get a staged or custom map from a tuner (EQT makes good stuff for the 2.0 engine). Night and day difference with the power band from the Cobb OTS map vs the (EQT stage 1 93) custom in my case.

    Have you done a 0-60 comparison with and without Cobb? Like to hear your results. And how about a Stage 2 etc.?

      I went from 5.1 (stock) to 4.7 (Cobb stage 1) there is no stage 2 for this car. I do plan on trying APRs tune next.

      @@WhatsyourForte I understand now. Just installed Stage 1 a few days ago and like the difference. I didn’t know there were other Stages and would like to know more.

    Might want to recheck the numbers in the table showing HP and TQ. Both stock and Cobb dyno numbers seem incorrect using 20% drivetrain loss (dividing WHP/WTQ by 0.8 or multiply HP/TQ by 0.8 to get the right numbers)

    • @WhatsyourForte
      @WhatsyourForte  Місяць тому

      @@donaldduck8079 I have learned from my BMW experience and now Porsche that the 20% rule does not always apply to their cars. Both are notorious for underrating their vehicles. Also dyno vary based on a lot of factors. It is only a good measurement to see improvements over a base run vs the mods. The actual numbers are not that important

      I think you misunderstood my comment. I'm not questioning the 20% (which is what you said you used to calculate the drivetrain loss, thats fine). I'm talking about calculating the crank HP/TQ from the dyno numbers you got. Your stock dyno WHP says 314. Then the HP crank should be 314/0.8 = 393, not 377 as you stated. Same for the other dyno to crank calculation. (357 WTQ of your stock dyno should be 357/0.8 = 446 at thw crank, not 428 as you stated).

      @@donaldduck8079 ohhhh ok gotcha… maybe I used a different % than 20. I can’t remember at this current moment. But if I used 20% then you are correct

    Good stuff James. Hey take a look at APR. I have the 21 (992) 911 Carrera 4S in Aventurine Green Metalic (we met a few times at local meets). I was considering tuning my 911 and APR tunes show absolutely impressive gains , not just for the money but, seriously impressive from a simple tune, at least for 911. I have not looked up the Macan tunes available. I ultimately decided against tuning my 911 because concerns about warranty with a (992) 911 engine costing 70k + to replace, lol Nope. I ordered a 24 M4 Competition XDrive I will build in the near future, leave my 911 stock. I will see you at the local meets man 👊👍

      Yeah I am definitely going to try the APR tune out. It would be good to see a comparison between the 2. I did not know you ordered an M4… nice… that’s going to be a beast. I wish cars and coffee was back but I will be hitting the meets up. See you soon and congrats

    Yes it is normal for Porsche to under estimate their power levels. Porsche is known for seriously underestimating their cars (namely the 911) HP/TQ , 0-60 and 1/4 mile times. When it comes to the Macan, they now (your hen and newer) share engines, drive trains with the Audi Q5/SQ5 because the previous 6cyl Porsche engine especially but, also the 2.0L 4cyl were plagued with issues at to where the Audi derived engines had better reliability. Porsche (992) 911s C2S/4S on dyno stock typically make 450hp+ and 435+tq to the wheels when Porsche rates the (992) 911 S/4S at 443/445HP , 390/400TQ at the crank. The 0-60 time Porsche claims is 3.4/3.5 (0-60) and 11.1/11.3 in 1/4 mile when in actuality the S/4S consistently run 3.0 (0-60) and 10.7-10.9 in 1/4 mile. I have yet to test actual number on my own car however, I did borrow a draggy and was able to do some 0-60 testing. I was pretty consistently getting 2.9x-3.0x (0-60) pulls. My best was a 2.79 (0-60) with a really solid hook up, no wheel spin due to tires being warmed up at the point.
    Yeah, anyway I rambled above. Porsche underestimates it's power of it's vehicles.
