    ➡️️ Full ON/OFF Playlist: • Minecraft RTX - Ray Tr...
    Maxed out Settings (except for chromatic abberation, dof), native resolution.
    Recorced and uploaded in 1440p.
    This is a native ray tracing implementation and not a reshade mod.
    Even with real-time ray tracing still being in its infancy, I believe RT will become more important with current and coming generation hardware, so I created this channel with the intention of covering ray-traced games. There are plenty of channels doing mainly performance comparisons, my intention is to focus on the visual aspect and make the differences more obvious through my videos.

    • @AdiusOmega
      @AdiusOmega 2 роки тому +14

      I'd imagine most of it is baked lighting which is a pretty good approximation to proper raytracing, the problem is that changes can often be made to a scene after a bake or sacrifices have to be made to quality. For a game like this it makes sense to just bake because everything is static lighting for the most part.

    It seems like all the Resident Evil RT implementations have been pretty subtle so far, but I think this was a pretty good showing. IMO, the RTGI in REengine games has seemed pretty subtle so far but the improved shading really adds some depth to the indoors scenes.
    The reflections seem a little rough with the ghosting and blur but - and I believe this for RE2 as well - anything beats the way these games handled SSR before.
    The addition of RT to all of these games has been a really nice touch to some already stellar titles, and what I'd really like to see in the future is better support for more mirror-like reflections on smoother surfaces instead of the rougher, slower-to-update system they seem to be sticking with.
    (And a capped framerate for when the framerate for when the ray tracing mode in one of these games can't hit 60 but stays comfortably above 30 - but thats beside the point.)

      I really like some of the additional detail with global illumination though, even if the reflections are meh. All that extra shadowing under furniture makes the games look even more moody.

      True. I think RTGI graphics option in the 4 RE games (2, 3, 7, 8) is simply amazing. It is pretty light and easy to run for any modern GPU, yet it makes these games look significantly more appealing, like true horror games. What a shame the devs removed RTGI option from RE4 Remake. That is the reason why it looks less atmospheric (mostly during indoor scenes) that any of those 4 games. Yet they somehow decided to keep those super low res RT reflections, which barely improve image quality of this game.

    @jkidd7608 2 роки тому +20

    I've tried all 3 of the upgraded games with and without RT and personally I felt using RT mode was a waste. You experience frame drops that are noticeable and the reflections and such that are so easy to see in a video like this are really missed during actual gameplay because you're more focused on playing the game and not just standing around looking at reflections. Also, why does water disappear when using RT for this???

    • @psycho0815
      @psycho0815 2 роки тому +5

      The water doesn't disappear, it just got correct reflections. The reason you can see it better with RT off is that the game used a cube map(probably a low res skybox) embedded in the shader and screen space reflections for near by objects. In the outside scene with the van you can see that the larger trees or far away objects are not covered by screen space reflections so the puddles are reflecting a blue sky and a little bit of the gate in the background. That's why you can see them better with RT off. But to me it blooks a lot more realistic with RT on.

    Unlike RT Reflections, RTGI Contribution is very minimal, which is overlayed on top of an already well lit/shaded environnement with prebaked lightmaps (Ideal for static lights and props).
    There are some cases where the old technique holds up better than the dynamic solution (Exp: 2:08) mainly because of the difference in the number of bounces (so many with longer time of rendering vs 1ray bounce in real time).
    I think SS RTGI could do a better job as a secondary shader that enhances the small details (AO/IL: Contact Shadows, Color bleeding)

    Some scenes looks better with no ray tracing on and other better with it on so it's a bit of a mix bag for me. You would of thought being as the game isn't a fast paced and there isn't really a lot of things going on as your more or less walking around most of the time they would of put in much more full ray tracing support for pc as there are now better graphics cards that can handle ray tracing specially now we in that era with the 4000's cards around the corner.
    Also a game like this as its a horror vibe with corridor's and light shadow's coming from all angles with lanterns etc they could of taken full advantage to it instead they went with the crap boring slight effect that really doesn't do much to it and isn't really worth having on it's a bit like shadow of the tomb raider you don't really notice it and causes more artifact with it on

    I have a slight feeling that the RT implementation actually hurts the overall atmospehere and graphics instead of improving on them...

    MY RX 6800XT PC
    RAY TRACING OFF = 200 PLUS FPS
    RAY TRACING ON = 40 FPS 🙄

      Lol, I still have 60fps with my rtx 3050 (without fsr)

      @@danniel7480 No No . I wasa talking about ray tracing in demanding games like dying light 2 and cyberpunk. I was getting 90 fps at 4k max ray tracing and fsr off in resident evil village. Resident evil games are not ray tracing heavy so your rtx 3050 is more than adequate.

    Ray tracing will only be worth it the day costs only like 2 fps instead of 20

    Phahahah :D I kicked that one in the head. Minus 40% fps for the sake of near-zero picture changes. Resident evil 7 needed only one fix, HDR fix which in past patches was incredibly dark, and when trying to add brightness, bright lights became completely, unnaturally white, which spoiled the immersion. RTX was never needed for this game, the changes are too insignificant. You will have much more fun playing 4K 144+ FPS than 4K 60FPS with RTX, I assure you. RTX is needed by old games with inherently poor lighting, like Portal, it has really been transformed beyond recognition.
