My ears perked up when you brought up the UV function on the SGN3. I'm friends with a biologist who's studying scorpions out in the Sonora Desert. They have a protein in their shell that glows in UV light, so having something like the SGN3 can be one heck of a life saver for him. I might just get it for him... :)
Nitecore Tube actually has another mode called Infinitely Variable Brightness. When in low output mode, press and hold the button for more than 1 sec, the brightness will start going up from 1 lumen to 45, you can release the button at any time to set the desired brightness.
One of my addictions - running out of excuses to tell my wife why I have bought another pocket light - Have the 3 of the O Lights including one copper - they are fantastic! Really want the Nite Core Tube next to add the USB charging functionality to my pocket!
Good review! My Olight is running for 1h 15 min with full light and an additional 15-30 min with very reduce light when loaded with a 900 mAh recargeable-battery , NiMh.
I just got their Tool AA. It's bright enough it's become my right front pocket carry, which was previously held by my ThorFire VG15S...which has now become my backpack carry. And the UltraTac K18 has taken the Tool AA's previous spot as left pocket carry.
My nitecore tube has been working great for six months now. Of course, I don't use it for any "heavy duty" tasks, just to get my keys in the door, to find things under the bed, to find the lantern when the power goes off, etc, the usual keychain light tasks. I use it almost every day, if only for a few minutes at a time, and it has always worked very well. I have it on my key chain with my Kershaw Cinder, so Zi always have a light, a knife, and a bottle opener whenever I need one!
Received the OLight as a gift and really like it. The only problem I've had is the bulb end unscrewing and pulling my keys out of my pocket and later discovering my battery and bulb compartment still floating around in my pocket. Glad I did not lose the little bulb compartment which could have been easy to do if I had been outside and it had fallen into the grass. After that occasion, I was paranoid about unscrewing it too far and I must have left the light screwed too tight because it came back on some time later. My wife noticed the "shekinah glow" coming off my private area and pointed out I was "flashing" her. Still using it but would prefer a pushbutton light now. Thanks for the review Sootch!
Interesting video. Kind of surprised we didn't see any Thrunite lights, especially the Ti3. The Ti3 uses a single AAA batery and is my hands-down favorite EDC light. Small, simple and tough as all get out. Demolition Ranch shot one into a watermelon out of a 12 gauge and it still lit up. That's plenty tough for me! Keep up the good work.
i gave one to my sister and she lost it under the hood of her car for a couple months. i went out to jump it one day and found the light. the light and panasonic eneloop i put inside of it still worked perfectly. SO I KEPT IT FOR MYSELF AND DIDNT GIVE IT BACK hahahaha
I have both the Tube and the Tip. I really like the Tube's "slide" feature. When the light is on at the lowest level, holding down the power switch allows the user to gradually increase the output from 1 lumen to 45 and stop at any level in between.
I recently picked up the foursevens mini mark ii. You have your choice up a pocket/hat clip or the keychain clip. It puts out 1000lumens in burst then drops down to 300 off of 1 included rcr123a. I highly recommend it.
I'm an O-light fan but they missed the boat. They need a single lumen or sub-lumen setting on the I3 to compete with the ThruNight. I prefer being able to swap out a common battery like the triple A if it dies and you need more time.
im not sponsered by them but i want to buy the RAVYVON 550 lumens. its tiny but its pricey for me. i like your video. im a big fan of rechargable small flashlights as back ups. Good vid!
Great line up and with these there's no excuse not to have one. Been using the Nitecore Tube ever since Chris from PreparedMind101 reviewed one and it's never let me down. Thanks for the review Brother :)
Just got an Olight I3e and was very impressed with how much light it threw. I am very impressed with it and very happy with it. Especially like that it runs on 1 AAA battery.
Love the video but in my opinion the Surefire Sidekick or Surefire Titan is where it's at when it comes to keychain lights. Just depends if you want a twist head or push button activation.
I just ordered two of the Olights from Olight Direct. I bought one and got one half price. I have been needing a keychain light for some time. I took some time deciding on the model. The Olight seemed to offer the best balance of features. So I chose it.
you will be very happy! after i bought my first one i bought 3 more because they are so convenient. so good they make it worth investing in panasonic eneloop rechargeables and a charger
got the Olight. I carry it in the little useless coin pocket of my jeans. love the power with the cheap and easy AAA battery. The reversible pocket clip as I see it makes for a handy emergency headlamp if you wear some kind of hat all the time like myself lol. Mine is in brass and I love it.
Great review Sootch! (For keychain use) Leaning toward the power and ruggedness of the TIP, but as an Infantry soldier and having benefited from the numerous advantages of red light , I certainly appreciate the SGN3.
love the video and I love flashlights of all kinds - but maybe I am a little OCD but I would worry about not having access to a USB port if my light began to fail, whereas I can always carry a spare AAA or two.
SensiblePrepper Great review bro always wanted to see a proper keychain light video that explains in detail.. great job. but for ur MecArmy light though, *at ****6:29* u called it a Nitecore by mistake *MecArmy SGN3* *Not NITECORE SGN3*
Julian 3 check out the DQG HOBI replaceable rechargeable batteries the same kind as the Illumenex 1. Needs a tiny screw on head to recharge it so it's not built in but it's smaller than the Illumenex 1.
I personally swear by the Thrunite Ti3. 120, 60 and 1 lumens at the twist of head. 120 being just enough to fry someones eyeballs, and 1 lumen being just little enough to not disrupt your night vision, but also provide like 100 hours of illumination time during a blackout. I wear it on a neck lanyard, and I haven't taken it off for literally a week straight. Not even in bed. It's *always* there, and if I need it quickly, I just pop that sucker in my mouth. (It's perfectly light enough and not too aggressive in the texturing). It's drop dead convenient. And on top of that it goes for like 16 bucks, is IPX8 waterproof. It has never failed me in the approx 2 and a half years I've owned it.
Hi, that Nitecore tube has a varying output mode from 1 to 45 lumens by double-pressing and hold the button, you let go when the desired light level is achieved. It also has safety lockout by pressing and holding for 5 seconds when in 1 lumen mode. Thanks.
Tube has variable mode 1-45 lumens, you forgot to said it in case you know it. I have almost all these lights and as a keychain light is tube the best, it's plastic but even though very durable and what is the most important it's very lightweight and flat, what is the best for keychain flashlight.
Great reviewer/Video's as always from Sensible Prepper! I use a Photon light on my key chain, those little buggers throw some good light. In my pocket I have the Archer 1a-v3 ATB from Canada
The Nitecore Tube also has a ramping feature that will incrementally increase or decrease the light between the low and high settings. Just press twice and hold to ramp the Tube's output.
Check out the thru night ti3 (they probably have newer better options since I got mine.. But I still have mine. It has the moonlight mode like 1 lumen and it has medium and bright about 110 lumens out of a AAA battery.. Much more with a 3.7v lithium.. Also has strobe.. I wouldn't trade it for anything except maybe the titanium model.. It has a flat tail so it will stand up and work as a lamp should you need (I find it's very handy and will never have one that doesn't have a flat bottom for that reason..) it's much like the olight your showing here and the reversible clip makes it an instant hat lamp.... That mech army titanium looks sweet I'd like to check it out but it's going to do about the same as my ti3 with lithium battery... If you like little flashlights, I've used a lot and haven't bought a new one since I got the ti3 a couple maybe 3 years ago.. Go for a replaceable battery and a common AAA is a good option.. You will never run out of light.. You can use a AAA rechargeable but it's not going to perform any better.. I love tiny lights...
Great vid Sootch. I've been carrying enforce lights for a while but nothing quite as compact as what you just showed. I'll be checking out some OLight and MecArmy lights for my next EDC light. Thanks for cranking out quality content brother.
Hi, My daughter does a lot of walking in the city and I want her to carry a small key chain light with the most output for size. What fits the bill from everyone's experience? Thanks, William
The Nitecore Tube is VERY water resistant, I've put it through two cycles in the washing machine because it's so small, I forgot it was in the clothes pocket! For $10, can't go wrong.
Sootch, the nitecore tube has variable brightness. U press once switch it on the lowest then press and hold the button. It will go thru the brightness like a variable rotary ring frm 1-45 and u let go to pick the brightness u want!
So, For the Nitecore TIP you have to hold the button for turbo mode for 30 min, so you can have max output.:) I real situations it is impossible to hold the button for 30 min:)
I have a 2017 model of nightcore tip and it is great, charge lasts a long time and at 350 lumins its very bright, fits on key ring and is my most used flashlight and i have quite a few...the only negative is the paint wears off....there is no battery drain when the light is off, not like the pre 2017 models, i have had this light for one year...
I love how you were so.used to saying Nitecore that you said Nitecore sgn3 haha I can understand why, Nitecore does great with these keychain lights! Great video this is something no one does I love the concept for the video
what you have missed to mention with plastic Nitecore Tube that the brightness can be adjusted all between 1 to 45 lumens. With the light turned on you press and hold the switch and you can choose whatever brightness you like.
IM BUILDING A SHELTER ON A ISLAND AND REPURPOSING THE TRASH THAT HAS WASHED ASHORE AS A WAY TO CLEAN UP THE MESS! What can I do with oil jugs (quart size and gallon) I've tried stripping them down into cordage but they do not strip as well as a plastic bottle any ideas?
Just a quick UPDATE: I had my TIP for just over 2 weeks when it began developing the issues others have experienced. Very disappointing. It was a great keychain LED light.... for about two weeks.
SensiblePrepper I know. None of us do. It's awful what's happened. I follow alot of political channels and I thought it was funny. It was like five videos about France then a video about key chain lights.
P G Pretty much man. It's insane. France is gonna look like Afghanistan in three years. This shits nuts. We need to be Fucken prepared. I'm sure some politician in our lifetime is gonna bring that shit right to our doorstep. I was planning to take a trip there at some point. That's out the window.
It makes me sick to see the political dance going on throughout Europe... their culture is dying and they are oblivious. I definitely see the irony and agree that the worlds going to hell and we're talking about flashlights. The real point is get prepared to be ready to face danger... Thanks
I would like to see a test of using the phone as a flashlight. How many lumens/candela does Samsung and Apple phones output? How does that hurt battery life?
Checking cleanliness of hotels/motels... bodily fluids show up...like semen and urine. Also, you can spot scorpions easier, as their exoskeletons glow under UV light
The MecArmy SGN3 has that single multi-mode button Those things are a pain to use. Every time you want to use a light, you must click through a lot of useless modes. Some are complicated. The early Streamlight Protac series had many returns because customers couldn't work the multi-mode button. The Streamlight KeyMate KeyChain (not the KeyMate USB) goes for 96 hours on one set of batteries. It's only 10 lumens but has reflector optics which make it super bright. Twist ON/OFF. Built solid.
You forgot my favorite, the DQG HOBI available in titanium and stainless steel, 120 lumens on high 10 on low replaceable rechargeable battery, very similar to the illuminex 1 but about 2/3 the size.
I personally wouldn't choose to get a rechargeable torch. When I go hiking I pack my sack about 10 minutes before leaving, pop in a fresh battery so I'm confident in that 100% charge. If it was rechargeable I'd definitely forget half the time and it's just another thing to go wrong.
RE: PICO.., I have always had trouble twist on lights. They tend to keep twisting on your keyring and the end falls off. (this is true of almost ALL twist top or twist element gadgets!)
first
i like your videos greetings from macedonia
Congrats Marko!
Greetings from Serbia! :)
Macedonia is greek malaka. You are Vardaska
oooo Makedonac

The Aurora A5 from RovyVon Needs to Be on this list!
Urban Survivor yeah I love mine but this vid was made before they were released
And nitecore tiki
Perfect timing! My nitecore tube died yesterday. Time to go shopping. I'm going to give the o light a shot. Thanks so much for the video.
How long did it last you?
I have the nitecore TUBE V2, it has 55 lumens, what a great tiny lite, love it. Thanks for the short but yet informative review sir!
Have the Nitecore tube on my keychain but the Lumintop Tool AAA is always in my pocket and is my most used light.
I just got their Tool AA. It's bright enough it's become my right front pocket carry, which was previously held by my ThorFire VG15S...which has now become my backpack carry. And the UltraTac K18 has taken the Tool AA's previous spot as left pocket carry.

You left out the Thrunite Ti3 which is probably the best bang for the buck out there!
I was also surprised that the Ti3 didn't make the list. It's one tough top quality light.
i gave one to my sister and she lost it under the hood of her car for a couple months. i went out to jump it one day and found the light. the light and panasonic eneloop i put inside of it still worked perfectly.
SO I KEPT IT FOR MYSELF AND DIDNT GIVE IT BACK hahahaha

I was excited about the O light... then I bought it and used. It comes on so easy in your pocket and runs your battery down.
More things to buy! Thanks to you, I have a million flashlights. Good video Sootch.
I'm an O-light fan but they missed the boat. They need a single lumen or sub-lumen setting on the I3 to compete with the ThruNight. I prefer being able to swap out a common battery like the triple A if it dies and you need more time.
After several cheaper edc lights I came to one conclusion. My edc has to be able to survive a ride through the washer lol.
Travis NYE well then its not EDC if its being washed and not on you (;
My olight 3T EOS has survived more than one wash and dry.
I also found a cool key chain here reasonbuy.com/brightest-flashlights/ . really cool!!
im not sponsered by them but i want to buy the RAVYVON 550 lumens. its tiny but its pricey for me. i like your video. im a big fan of rechargable small flashlights as back ups. Good vid!
I picked up the Surefire Sidekick. Small, rechargeable and bright with multiple light output settings. It's a little pricey but I love it.
Great line up and with these there's no excuse not to have one. Been using the Nitecore Tube ever since Chris from PreparedMind101 reviewed one and it's never let me down. Thanks for the review Brother :)
I have a nitecore tip 2017 version, I love it. But you didn't even cover a third of the features.
I like that O light.
Olight makes great lights.
Great review. Could you show these in a dark alley or room to show how well it lights up the room or alley? Thanks
I love flashlights~
ME 2....lol!
I have had my pico for over 2 and a half years now and I have not had a problem, great for the price and the best thing I don't know it is there.
Just got an Olight I3e and was very impressed with how much light it threw. I am very impressed with it and very happy with it. Especially like that it runs on 1 AAA battery.
Recently came to find out the silver and copper units put out 120 lumens, while the rest only do 90...
Still like my swiss army knife mini that has a led light in it. That way it does more than just light.
Crazy cool.not long ago, these minis would be crap, now, the tech has caught up.quality.nice choice
Thanks Alan! Technology is advancing fast with electronics. Some of these are already being replaced with new models.
Love the video but in my opinion the Surefire Sidekick or Surefire Titan is where it's at when it comes to keychain lights. Just depends if you want a twist head or push button activation.
Thanks Brother! Hard to beat Surefire.
I just ordered two of the Olights from Olight Direct. I bought one and got one half price. I have been needing a keychain light for some time. I took some time deciding on the model. The Olight seemed to offer the best balance of features. So I chose it.

I have the 2nd one in black its pretty good.

Good point. Thanks Julian!
Julian 3 I agree. I like USB lights for EDC but I always carry a battery powered backup in my pack and for survival I'll only use battery powered
SensiblePrepper
Great review bro
always wanted to see
a proper keychain light video
that explains in detail..
great job.
but for ur MecArmy light

Thanks for the comment, going to look at that one now.
I forgot to mention that it has a clip which you can reverse and then slip it onto a ballcap brim, and boom you've got a headlamp.
CircaSriYak I agree. I've got a couple. Hard to beat for versatility.
I also own and love my Ti3.........and do you know that it has a hidden strobe feature??? It's great!!
hell yeah friend. though i've never had cause to use it
Hi, that Nitecore tube has a varying output mode from 1 to 45 lumens by double-pressing and hold the button, you let go when the desired light level is achieved. It also has safety lockout by pressing and holding for 5 seconds when in 1 lumen mode. Thanks.

I have a mini maglite AAA single powered. does me good.
Maglite is a solid light.
There are good I have a few of them. :)
I have the maglight mini too.
At 47 Lumens, IPX7, Made in the U.S.A., and widely available at Wally World for less than $10, the Maglite Solitaire LED should be on this list IMHO.
Yup. +1 for Maglite from Europe.
Great reviewer/Video's as always from Sensible Prepper! I use a Photon light on my key chain, those little buggers throw some good light. In my pocket I have the Archer 1a-v3 ATB from Canada
Thanks Eric!
Great selection! Thanks, Sootch!
Thanks Brother!
Very cool flashlights Done, thanks so much! :-)
Thanks for sharing. I've never had a decent light like these are.
Thanks Nick!
I got my wife a maglite solitare LED keychain flashlight. I was pretty impressed with it for what it is.
I had both of the Nitecore and both broke within a month or so.
I just got the pelican 1810 keychain light and i think its great.
got home the manker lad, sweet little light for its size. the nitecore tip is very good too.
The Nitecore Tube also has a ramping feature that will incrementally increase or decrease the light between the low and high settings. Just press twice and hold to ramp the Tube's output.
Check out the thru night ti3 (they probably have newer better options since I got mine.. But I still have mine. Best keychain lights have buttons, twist action lights need two hands to use. Best value is the NC Tube.
The Nightcore Tip is the best you can find for the size.
Or the tini
Great vid Sootch. I've been carrying enforce lights for a while but nothing quite as compact as what you just showed. I'll be checking out some OLight and MecArmy lights for my next EDC light.
Thanks for cranking out quality content brother.
Thanks Chuck! I appreciate it brother!
Hi,
My daughter does a lot of walking in the city and I want her to carry a small key chain light with the most output for size. What fits the bill from everyone's experience?
Thanks,
William
Thrunite Ti3, brilliant and reliable.
Lumintop Tool is also great, and comes with clicky power button for faster light in an emergency.
DORCY KEYCHAIN FLED FLASHLIGHTS R EXCELLENT!!
LED
The Nitecore Tube is VERY water resistant, I've put it through two cycles in the washing machine because it's so small, I forgot it was in the clothes pocket!
For $10, can't go wrong.
Lol! Good to know. Thanks
Sootch, the nitecore tube has variable brightness. U press once switch it on the lowest then press and hold the button. It will go thru the brightness like a variable rotary ring frm 1-45 and u let go to pick the brightness u want!
And about Fenix flashlights someone uses ? maybe an fenixe05 ss or Fenix e99 may be an good option also
are the last two flashlights interchangeable battery packs and switches
So, For the Nitecore TIP you have to hold the button for turbo mode for 30 min, so you can have max output.:) I real situations it is impossible to hold the button for 30 min:)
Great video! I think these small flash lights look cool!
Thanks!
Thanks Max, I'm surprised I didn't get it mixed up worse. Keeping all these straight was a feat.
I’ve been using the wee MecArmy in copper. It’s a great little thing, tough, bright, small and light!
@SensiblePrepper IT's time to update this video. The Manker LAD, RovyVon Aurora and new MecArmy SGN 7 need a review!
Perfect!!! I have Nitecore TUBE = SUPER light! 😉
How lobg did it last? Mine lasted 4 days because of moisture
Does it still flash?
Next time make it a point to show the led/optics.
Great video though. I didn't know many of these exist.
I have the olight i3 ios, but my batteries is leaking inside, is there any way I can repair it?
I just got a led lenser k1. SO tiny, 17 LM very good video
just got the new streamlight Key mate usb. fantastic light three modes. rechargeable with USB, it's got low high and strobe.
Whats the brightest smallest torch??
Brilliant review 😄
what you have missed to mention with plastic Nitecore Tube that the brightness can be adjusted all between 1 to 45 lumens. With the light turned on you press and hold the switch and you can choose whatever brightness you like.
I would add one surefire titan or one prometheus beta Qrv2 or a Muyshondt Aeon!
Which one is the least likely to get switched on accidentally?
I have the nitecore tube and love it but my favorite edc is the maratac aaa can keychain it or use the pocket clip
il y a déjà de nouveaux modèles de petites lampes en 2018,cela va très vite à notre époque.
What is the name of the ammunition flashlight??
where can you buy iy
Just a quick UPDATE: I had my TIP for just over 2 weeks when it began developing the issues others have experienced. Very disappointing. It was a great keychain LED light.... for about two weeks.
Lol, I love how France just died and sootch is over here talking about key chain flashlights.
And your point? I have no control over those morons destroying their country.
SensiblePrepper I know. None of us do. It's awful what's happened. I follow alot of political channels and I thought it was funny. It was like five videos about France then a video about key chain lights.
joe Anderson What can we do? All the more reason to have your Material S together including your small Flashlight...

I think the Nitecore Tube (black) water rating is very low. Mine's been through the wash (not intentionally) three times now and still works like new.
What about MANKER LAD? your opinion please.
What would you recommend the much for durability
I would like to see a test of using the phone as a flashlight.
How many lumens/candela does Samsung and Apple phones output? How does that hurt battery life?
Great review Sooch. Why would you need a UV light?
Bodily fluids (urine, semen, etc at hotels/motels/etc.)... scorpions also
I can second the recommendations for the Nitecore TIP and the MecArmy Illuminex (mine's in stainless steel). Both are great!
Thanks!
What would the UV light be used for on the army light?
Water purification I would presume.
I like that little Nitecore I'm gonna get one 🙂
please make a hurricane video preparedness wise
I rly like the mecarmy sgn5 great light
@SP any updates to this?
I always have a small 10000mAh USB battery bank on me at all times. Never know when I need to charge a phone or a light.
I prefer the Nitecore TIP
Where's surefire's keyfob sized light? I think it has 300 lumens.
The olight seems like the best option.
The silver and copper ones put out 120 lumens, all the rest only 90...
RE: PICO.., I have always had trouble twist on lights. They tend to keep twisting on your keyring and the end falls off. (this is true of almost ALL twist top or twist element gadgets!)
