Song by TWRP
SOMEBODY GET US OUT OF THIS DIGITAL NIGHTMARE!
how, how do we get you out! D:
wanna trade places? I’ll gladly go digital!
but then who will make us content?
Havve please sign my chest
Al Gore should have never invented the internet.
How are you guys this good every single time
Did not expect to see Rare Earth commenting on a TWRP music video.
@@oscarkotovsk They've been the house band of my stage show Generator every time we've put it on. Great dudes. Great band.
@@RareEarthSeries I didn't know that, and they are amazing indeed!
Love your videos, as well. I'd love to see your show, now!
I hope to see you & them live someday! Cheers and thanks for the answer!
@@RareEarthSeriesyeah they seem so fckin chill and fun to be around
Woah, I am also pleasantly surprised to see you here. Thanks for covering Oceania's islands.
"We'll even play 'Freebird'!!!"... I felt that in my soul, man.... Best wishes and good luck.
Life Party confirmed
One of my favorite parts of that song lol@@staticbuzter452
Why does everyone keep asking for this
cannot get over puppet phobos’s little :O expression
Like a combination of his old and current helmet!
He looks like the perfect fusion between him and a shy guy from Mario 2
he looks like a peashooter :D
The cutest, looks like a lil bionicle
8O
oh my god. TWRP puppets singing about the soul crushing reality of content culture. this might be my favorite music video of all time.
Wasn't expecting TWRP to make a Don't Hug Me I'm Scared MV about the torturous existence of a content creator, but here we are.
Except there wasn't any gore. Well, besides when they gored that spaghetti lol
Not everything with puppets on the internet has to be dhmis
How in the everliving fuck besides aesthetics does this relate to Don't Hug Me I'm Scared? Become sentient please.
@@crunchylettuce5446 It's funny how worked-up you're getting over this.
Both use puppets and a lighthearted facade to express the negatives of consumerism. There's _a_ connection
This video's style really puts the Rock into Fraggle
I'd watch Phobos blend tiny blenders all day forever
You mean all night forever!
Blender smoke mmmmm. Don't breathe this
this is such an infectious bop for such a depressing topic. i love it
Dude right?
Let me remind you of an old group named Daft Punk. This song sounds like it came off Homework
@@blackman2101 dude it's only been 4 years since they retired that schtick.. it's not an "old" thing like it was 30 years ago. and yeah since daft punk retired twrp have basically stepped up to fill the void.
as for do i know them? i own interstella 5555 on dvd
@@Spekor
Their debut album, Homework, turned 27 in January
@@lezzdenden again.. it's only been FOUR YEARS!! since they stopped doing the daft punk stuff..
the comment i was replying to made it sound like they havn't been doing daft punk for over a decade. also they have been regularly releasing previously unreleased material the last couple years so daft punk might not be actively recording but they arn't "gone"
I don't want to spend too much time breaking down the subtext in this song. Instead, I just want to let TWRP know that they are true artists and have been my favorite band since I first saw them live side-by-side with NSP during the Rock Hard Tour. I hope you guys can see that there are people who value you as artists and you don't NEED to push out content for us... though survival under Capitalism requires the constant production of content for artists (sadly)
It isn’t capitalism. This has been the situation as long as there have been artists.
@@Scotty2Hotty8682 Literally not true. Look at the Renaissance
@@Pallyforeva you can look at any period you want. You need to keep creating content to keep getting paid. Mozart is a very good example. Greatest composer of his day and he died broke.
@@Scotty2Hotty8682 So we shouldn’t work to make a system where people aren’t forced to work to survive? You’re not making a convincing argument to keep Capitalism going. It relies on exploiting lower class people (of which is usually decided at birth and you are incredibly unlikely to surpass your born class in the USA right now). The only thing Capitalism is good for is letting Billionaires/multi-millionaires live extravagant lives with most struggle to get by or are actively dying. Make a convincing argument as to why Capitalism works for the middle and lower class and I’ll listen
@@Pallyforeva Gotta love people with rose tinted glasses not realizing that artists got dropped like flies if their patronage was even a little more expensive than the prestige they got for hiring them, especially in the height of the cultural revival that the renaissance brought about.
I hope one day the algorithm can respect groups like this more
With a TSR-80 ?
That's not enough computational power.
Tom Scholz of Boston is all the computational power I've ever required.
TWRP you've done more than reach me, I'm your Shalomie. I've accepted it.
Seeing TWRP puppets doing internet trends made me so unbelievably happy you have no idea
Now this is what I call The Perfect Product
It was made just for me!
Such great value
Just have fun with it
Muppet jams making my hair stand on end.
Dr. Teeth would be proud.
IT WAS FUN BEING ON SET FOR THIS OMG
It looks that way! It must have taken up so much work too, so glad to hear it was enjoyable!
I am so proud that my government provided funding for this. It's a step in the right direction, and the healing can begin.
Would you be happy if they provided funding to something you didn't like? What if they partially funded something you vehemently oppose? I'm a big fan of this song/video/content and glad it was funded... but also feel like Government's use of power be assessed based on whether we'd like it if the same power was (ab)used in a way we don't like (despite being in favour of it... *this* time)
@ashleydavy2812 I'm not Canadian...but if art (especially independent) is being funded by the government that is a good thing, even if that art is of a subject I don't like or find tasteless.
It's money going towards people like us, starving artists or the average working class and less money that's going to corporations and monopolies.
This is a dark time in the TWRP universe
this is a dark time in OUR universe mate
This perfectly encapsulates why the current music industry, and hell, ANY artistic form of media, just feels like a void. You can try so so hard for so long and never reach anything or anyone simply because all art is just "content" now. It's really depressing.
FEED THE FEED THE MACHINE, GOTTA FEED THE MACHINE🗣️‼️🤖🥪
TWRP continue to feel like they were hand crafted to make me specifically filled with joy
Love that the Canadian government payed for part of this. Rad video, great work! The album is pretty amazing too
you guys fill the daft punk shaped hole in my heart
YES!!! As soon as Daft Punk basically said "The End" TWRP swooped in and is literally the next best thing
Art is a Phobos puppet doing a guitar solo with spaghetti poured all over him. Also TWRP, since I first heard Ladyworld a few years ago you have been my favourite band, and we all appreciate the Content 4 Us
Before this my favorite music video was bright blue sky. This is a masterpiece.
honest to god there's no music video but you GOTTA listen to A Human's Touch
Everyone devouring muppet spaghetti while Phobos shreds on guitar is immaculate
This is the 5th new release from TWRP that made me like "Shit, that's my favorite song now"
I love this music video, and besides being silly and cute I think it perpetuates an idea a lot of us are feeling whether we are artists or not. Seems like attention spans are getting shorter, time is getting faster, and nothing can sit anymore. It’s always on to the next thing, the flashiest thing, the most marketable thing. Where is the singularity? Where does it end? Can the actual Havve do the cheese challenge? What is the cheese challenge? So many existential questions. This is indeed a dark time in both the TWRP and IRL worlds.
The amount of times I've seen Dr sung overdose on mysterious substances is more than I'd like to see
Not even kidding when I say this is the defining bop/music video of the decade.
The Spaghetti Scene now lives rent-free in my head forever.
I think my favorite part of this whole music video is your puppets *barely touched* their instruments. It really hammers home the art vs content struggle 0:32
What a sad state of affairs that artists are required to CONSTANTLY get their name out there. There's no end. Your art isn't allowed to speak for itself because the attention span of the algorithm moved on while you were doing your warm ups
Good album guys, I can't wait to see you live in April 🧡 💙 ♥️ 🖤 🤍
Look I'm not saying I'd buy merch with the twrp meme panels on it but uhhhhh, I'd buy it all
Despite dealing with the dystopian content machine, this video is absolutely adorable. Great props to the musicians and video artists/director
"Boy dinner" made me laugh out loud
Is this content 4 me?!
No, this is Content 4 U.
Coming back for a rewatch after attending the Digital Nightmare tour. The concert continues to provide a scathing critique of social media culture and its impact on artists. That social media wont stop pressuring you to click/purchase/consume until it takes everything you have.
The text on the screen in this video where the artists beg to be released from this Sisyphean cycle is incredibly powerful.
In addition, the band members being portrayed by puppets adds another layer. Perhaps they feel like they are just puppets, empty shells churning out content for the hope to break through to audiences and be able to continue to pursue music.
TWRP, if y'all read this, thanks for all the hard work youve put in. You're my favorite band and you deserve all the success in the world. Keep on groovin!
As an artist who also really likes spaghetti, this video really spoke to me. It's so hard to just make art when the social media algorithms push you down unless you're constantly creating tons of stuff all the time.
also i can't believe you made me look at loss
with my own eyes
Just at the Boulder show last night. Thanks for the show, guys. It was a lot of fun!
Remember, we coined the term "content creator" to refer to an artist who is so uncreative that we feel embarrassed calling them an artist.
TWRP are not content creators, they are artists. They make art.
No that’s not right, every UA-camr is a content creator or influencer, these terms flawed as they are, were to give a more specific name to the phenomenon happening, the issue doesn’t have to do with making content itself (or in uncreative content, which the good UA-camrs all feel like the are guilty of), it’s the pushiness placed upon content creators that they can’t just make a video and step away for a while whether from UA-cam itself encouraging and trying to help UA-camrs through their tutorials/propaganda, the UA-cam algorithm unfairly and inconsistently holding content creators to regular uploads, or the fans expecting or demanding weekly uploads or regularly scheduled content, TWRP is both here making music and content and is struggling to figure out the balance because they want to make their art, but they need money to survive and so they need to make something that will get viewers, without selling themselves all the way, so they create this beautiful piece of satire that ironically is content, but also art
@@vlogily8043 yeah I 100% agree to that take
No we didn’t, this is in your head. Art is in hindsight, content creation is why it gets made it in the first place.
Bet the reason they used puppets was purely to avoid being covered in spaghetti, as that is clearly the most essential part to the video
How a TWRP video with puppets made me introspective about my life and career?
3:14
Me in the throws of slop-ecstasy when I receive the slop from the content tube.
0:50 im at a loss for words
Is this loss?
Mpreg Phobos
I love the image of Phobo’s shredding a guitar lick while covered in a very strange amount of spaghetti.
I found out about this band yesterday but I'm already so obsessed, the songs are so catchy and they scratch my brain so well. I can't wait to hear more from this band!!
Never before have I wished so much for a behind-the-scenes video
one time back in hamilton my friend and i were last in line to just get autographs, TWRP ended up letting us take some pics and chat just for a very short time and this was yearrrrrs ago, but to this day i still support this band not just bc of that but bc they are creative and fun and make excellent music this latest album is incredible

Very good! As someone who quit social media, I appreciate it. The stress of it isn't worth it!
Yay, BURNOUT!
The fact you uploaded this in 4x3 with no black borders only adds to the sheer level of cool you have. The more you make, the cooler you guys get!
I love these puppet designs so much, they're clearly very well made and the puppeteering was also great, it can be very hard to get puppets to face cameras consistently so I imagine filming this was very fun but probably time-consuming as hell. Love it all that much more knowing it came out so well!!
This drummer just kicked my ass back to childhood, both mine and the internet.
This drummer.
I'm so in love with your new direction with darker social commentary contrasted with light, fun music. You guys have finally found something real to say with your music and it's powerful.
Commander's frown mouth is so cute 🥺 the spaghetti montage was so smooth and beautiful
When I first listened, I liked it. When I listened to it again, I *really* liked it. It's amazing how infectious this groove is.
Loving the Don't Hug Me I'm Scared style message and video style
Got that Canada sponsorship. Y'all have come a long way! Can't wait to see y'all on the tour in RVA! And as always the music is fantasitc
This is most of everything I want in music today. Actually amazing. WOOOOOOOOOOO!
I swear I heard 'got to feed the machine' as; 'got to fiddle my shit, got to fiddle my shit'
don't know why I keep loving to listening this repeatedly
The Havve fade-in at 2:30 was so slick.
Loove that part
Real Art🔥
We're puppets for the machine.
watching this on repeat. man im crying.. pursuit of art and happiness only to have to bend to the will of others in order to get the privilege of creativity
Don't Hug Me I'm Scared vibes from this. Love it.
I like to imagine the job of “puppet wrangler” involves a lasso and horse.
I want to make something clear - All four of you fellas are so genuine and passionate about what you do; It's clear you just have a wonderful time on stage! Your music is part of the reason I chose to pursue a career to learn ASL and interpret music and concerts. Even if the way the world is may has a total bullshit view and seems to prefer quantity over quality, you guys are the best as you are.
Side Note: Maybe we can finder a way to get this digital nightmare in a tiny blender and rid you of it that way? 🤔
Wait. The comments are saying these are puppets?!
On a more serious note, this video and the artwork, including the puppets all look phenomenal. Love it so much. Always enjoy seeing your stuff.
Please dont feel obligated to create content. we're happy with your music and going to see your shows.
But music and shows are content, haha!
@@nicholasrohrman I’d argue music and shows are art. 😉
@@nicholasrohrman music IS art, silly
So is Lord Phobos the resident chef of TWRP?
I guess it makes sense because he was certainly cooking during Dance Floor Cold War
Someone's gotta feed the machine
First off love the new album! Very good and I love the darker edge to it!
Secondly y'all can take a break if you need! We'd understand! The machine isn't important you guys are!
THIS ALBUM IS SO AWESOME GUYS
I've been loving the new album.
I've seen you live three times, and each time has been awesome. I respect the hell out of you guys, and I hope you keep trying to find passion in your art. If you didn't make another album for 10 years, the moment it finally dropped I would come running back to listen, as long as it was a piece of work you felt good about.
Would preorder a full set of plushes based on these puppets, amazing video and amazing song!
This is incredible
TWRP is incredible
I can't believe it took me until last year to find this band, can't wait to see y'all in April!
It’s giving Don’t hug me I’m scared and I’m loving
❤ Please bring these guys on tour.
That was very nicely done, and a tragic indictment of how social media encourages people to run desperately up a steep treadmill towards scratching out a living doing what they love, or at least used to love before it became an endless nightmare.
I embrace all the content that keep me awake froom the numbness of 'content'
Thank you for covering the weird feeling of trying to make it on youtube, but in a funny puppety way!
You really captured the horrifying feeling of trying to go bigger and more dangerous just to catch more eyes. Makes you wonder if there's a better way to help build an audience that supports more safer content.... Nah, someone hand me a Tidepod, gotta try this out myself.
Clever and creative representation of the modern artistic struggle! Corporations commodify both artists and viewers, leading to an endless grind of output that drains artists like fruit being run through a juicer.
Love the TWRPets. Havve's lil cross-eyes give me life. Hope to see these guys pop up a lot more
Maybe the real content was inside us all alooong
The real content was the friends we made along the way.
I'm utterly charmed by the fact you all did your own puppetry on that one. Haave is transcendent.
Also wow, I just noticed the puppets themselves are so good & on-brand because they're from Keith Sheppard, who is also you guys' costume crafter. What a labour of love from you all, despite the cynical soul-crushing aspect of it all.
Look, ya'll can take a break if you need it. I'm happy with your discography as it is. You're legends already.
Thanks content 4 me. you guys make excellent stuff; I hope it's not stressing you all out.
SPECTACULAR WORK TO THE BOYS AND EVERYONE INVOLVED!!! ❤
I really like this era of TWRP. Positivity, self love, and vibing on Lady World have been explored, so hearing the fellas explore social commentary and other darker notes feels like an evolution. Still love the chill soundscapes of the music itself too. Love you guys.
This album Is so amazing!!!
Thank you guys for making amazing music for the entire world to love!!! ❤
This has been stuck in my head since I've heard it
Even though that spaghetti is actually yarn, it somehow looks delicious (and messy) as they dig in and it flies all over the place. 😋
I approve of this content! And damn, yall are going to be in Ft Collins here shortly? Nice!
Thank U 4 the content ❤️❤️
Incredible. I loved every second. If you're looking for ideas for more content - re-make this video in live action!
Watching puppet phobos wail on guitar while it’s raining spaghetti on him is hilarious 😂
This album is a masterpiece, I’ve loved every second of it, very well done guys!
This is incredible
You guys make me smile even when you make songs about depressing realities like this. ROCK ON TWRP!
A banger song AND commentary on the corporatized landscape of the creative industry & its effects on art and culture!
