Buying a historic Racing Lancia Appia GTE, a slight refresh!

- My latest purchase comes from Racer Anatoly Arutunoff, a 1960 Lancia Appia Zagato GTE series 1, today I do a bit of minor work to clean up the interior of this former Italian race car!

You did a wonderful job on this restoration! What a unique car to take to shows or drive around town. Personally, I would have kept the carpeting black like the original, so it would tie in with the dashboard. But I'm glad you are pleased with how it all turned out.

When did you do this video? There is snow out side at your house but it's June 29th 2024 and 100 here in Illinois?

@@chrissettles4127Alex is living in Edmonton and I’m in Calgary which is about four hundred miles south. I can tell you that there has been a foot of snow in May but it doesn’t last. Often the snow is gone in a day and a half. Right now it’s not very warm. The highest temperature I’ve seen this year is less than eighty degrees F. If you’re coming to Alberta this summer remember to bring your jacket.

🤔 I'm guessing better mileage than the Jag. Love the way you keep the lineup fresh. Besides there will be other E types down the road. For many men this Lancia would be a midlife crisis purchase. For Alexander it's merely Spring 2024.👍

Was sad to see the Jag go but the Lancia is an awesome unique replacement and great stable mate to the Ferrari, Alfa, Mercedes, and Porsche

I have as a daily driver a 25 year old Lancia with a smooth 5 cylinder engine, fun to drive.
About 10 of them still on the road in my country with 17 million citizens. Rare as hens theeth overhere….🙂

What a little beauty! I love a nice old Lancia! Very pretty now. I'm not a fan of the turqoise floor carpet, but that's just a little thing. The entire care IS loud though.... I'm not sure I'd feel okay driving that for a long while. I'm on the fence, obviously. ;-))

You can always buy another E-Type but an Appia Zagato with race history.. you'll never find another one. I'd keep it for a long time if I were you

That’s a great little car and I think that upholstery new rug looks great in fact I think that colour rug is the same colour as the one my husband had that car when we first met in 1986 he kept it for while and he worked on it himself And then he bought BMW and sold the Lancia ….

You may find it was easier to keep that E-type going than the Lancia.
I have no idea whether or not that is true...and I'd be too polite to mention it if it was...but that car likely has ten times more weekend car show interest than the Jaguar.
@@GuyWithTheDogs i drove that car from tulsa to detroit to nashville and back to tulsa. drove it tulsa-pittsburgh, raced it, drove it back. lancias are more reliable than most other cars, i drove my morgan to califonia and back 3 times with no trouble; probably because it had a british ford engine!

He probably bought the vehicle this winter and waited to post the video until after he had done enough of the work to make a more comprehensive before/after restoration video. It all takes time!
Also, his most recently posted videos were of his visit with Anatoly Arutunoff, the owner and driver of this vehicle. So it was good timing because were just introduced to Anatoly.
Also, Canada can get snow in June. I was in North Bay, Ontario, years ago. May 31st was sunny and warm. We had a picnic lunch by a lake. I woke up on June 1 to several inches of snow. 😮

Please don't say Lansia, but Lancha, because it's an italian car. To do an example the correct pronunce of Volkswagen is Folksvaghen because it's a german car.
