Leatherman doesn’t seem to listen to demand of consumers and Gerber products always seem to be almost there but subpar. There is definitely a wide open market for medium to small high quality Multitools
That's why I like Leatherman, streamlined, functional and dependable. Gerber is more bulky, chunky and "cookie" cutter shaped implements. The SOG Powerpint certainly looks more pleasant, and I like scissors on multitools. Scissors are great for cutting paper, lol! I laugh at people who think scissors should be "tin snips" and magically cut thinks they're not intended for. The scissors on the Leatherman Arc are okay. I like the scissors on the Wave, Curl or Surge the best. I don't think anyone would argue that Victorinox takes the "cake" when it comes to scissors on a multitools. Fiskars makes great products too, its a wonder they don't intervein and turn Gerber around!
Good review. Just something I noticed. The belt cutter can cut the paracord much easier if apply force not straight against the blade as shown but in a somewhat slicing motion by pulling it in a way that moves the cord against the blade along the edge or quickly move the cutter back and forth against the cord. Knife obviously better for that task, but belt cutter is better for safety like seat belts, and fabric blocking a wound that needs treatment, also shrink wrap on pallets of product at work. I have the Crucial. The clip is also the bottle opener. It's great, but wish it the belt cutter also because it cuts shrink wrap better than a straight edge with little risk of accidentally damaging product.
More mulitools I haven't heard of i reckon I would prefer the power pint. Its a fantastic tool imo I do like g10 handles the only example I own is the ruger 911 mulitool. Also the only complaint with the powerpint is I wish it had the lock to hold 1/4"bits like the powerlitre
I picked up a black Powerpint during the 11/11 sale for $21. So far its been living in my 5th pocket everyday and has saved me multiple times. I still want to try out the Nextool Mini Sailor but I feel the Powerpint might be the best overall. Thanks for your reviews!
The Powerpint would be great with 2 inch bits, a PH2 and 1/4 in/6.5mm bit for example. It's too long to be used as a stubby so might as well go for the extra length, it will then perform pretty much like a dedicated bit holder.
Ive been considering a powerpint as a gift to my mom, she has a bunch of horses. The bullrush might be a good option considering the safety cutter is basically the exact same tool she already uses (standalone) for cutting the straps on hay bales. A little bit worried its too bulky for its size and doesnt have as many options for tools though. Edit: also, her being a lady with small hands I kinda feel the SOG gear system is a perfect application. But we'll see
Hey for your mom safety cutter you might want to check out the roxon phantasy. I just saw a short vid of it the other day. Modular one bladed safety cutter multitool. :)
We could do wonders with the Bullrush (what a name.!). Reckon the Crucial is good as it is, small but quite functional. As for the Pint, it's a "convenient" tool for its size. You either like it or you don't but with some great upgrades it will give Leatherman some competition. Nevertheless they're all great tools with its specific usages. Cheers mate. Great observation as always.
Gerber's problem is their build quality is all over the map. I got a Truss from Amazon that was horrible. It had misaligned pliers, dull cutting tools, and knife grinds that were so uneven I couldn't sharpen them. It was returned. Then I got a Truss from BladeHQ on sale, it was absolutely perfect with great workmanship and sharp, even blades.
I would really like to see your whole collection of multi tools. I have a Gerber multi tool I’d like to show ya. You can take the head off and put on different olier heads. It was odd to me . Picked it up for $5 bucks at a flea market. I also have a purdy large collection myself of Leatherman , love your channel 👍
Thanks! You have the Gerber 650 Evolution an amazing deal for $5!!! It is up to $1000 on ebay! I have one with I think just one head. I might pick up a couple different heads someday.
@@hvacbudget8600 I have one more question, do you think this is a “ collectors piece” for some people? I don’t have a need for this . Would you be interested in this sir ? If you are , I’m sure you’d shoot me a fair price , thank you ,, your a multi tool guy also 😜
Unpopular opinion the pliers are too small on the sog. The deployment of the other tools is too difficult on the sog. The fact that there's no integrated Philips on the sog is s fail. I don't want to have to carry a little bit that's extra because I will lose it. I'm not sure why the Powerpint gets all the love because it's pretty much useless

Good point!
@@hvacbudget8600 also I really like how the carabiner can fold away is a cool feature. Normally your stuck with it in the way most the time

Interesting- im sticking with Power Pint, Dime and Charge until leatherman gets its act together
Sounds good!

Great video! Does the Gerber Crucial Phillips or flat head fit into the Leatherman bit adapter?
Actually the flat head does fit in the adapter.
I still believe that the Leatherman PST or PST 2 is the best pound for pound multi tool when considering weight, size, and capability.
Ummm I think the Wave craps on the PST....
Powerpint scissors are left handed. Maybe it cut better if you switch to the other hand
👍🏼 the Gerber is kinda weird shaped.

I really hate the idiotic design of the Crucial. Not only does it take up more weight & space, but it limits how you can hold it and use it !
It is a bit ungainly!
SOG powerpint beat all of them.. Only one I dislike, the SCISSORS.. Very weird design and poor cutting at all.. Everything is okay just for me
UASUTSWWW
Personally my favorite has to be the SOG Switch Plier, i never leave the house without it.
Nice!
