Hello! That's a really great question! At first, I (Sarah) didn't know that it was customary to visit only the husband's side of the family during these major holidays, and it still kind of puzzles me a bit. I guess I just assumed that the husband and wife would get to visit and spend equal amounts of time with both sides of the family on these holidays. In Canada, we spend equal time with both the husband's and wive's families, and often both sides of the family get together for holidays and events. Of course it also depends how far away you live from certain family members and your relationship with your family, but on average it's definitely more equal when it comes to family time.

I remember when I was young my family only visited my dad's parents during Chuseok but as I got older we started visiting my mom's family on the third day of the holidays. Whoa those were some pretty light shows in the korea international airport. Wish we had those at JFK airport or the Taoyuan International Airport in Taiwan. This was the best series of surprise video next to Kyuho's surprise wedding proposal to you. XD

+won1853 여긴 명절이 한국처럼 3-5일이 아니라 크리스마스 + 뉴이어 합치면 주로 2주 정도 휴가가 나오니 주로 두쪽 다 가는 경우가 많아요. :)
