If you're using a rifle like Bosco's, you're going to need to line up the sights properly at some point. In this instance, the mascots head would get in the way, hence the cut out, which allows him to rest his cheek on the stock and get his eye in line with the scope.
Make sure that before unlocking the cage, eliminate enemies in the nearby estates, save the game and don't let the up and coming "hunters" distract you too much. He is not your dog so he will NOT wait around if you lose track or sight of him.
boscos gang actually has all of downtown under their control making them the largest raider gang in the commonwealth. he recently got bit by 1 of their attack dogs and contracted rabies and is slowly going insane. just a lil lore for ya
The thing is they only took out shamrock taphouse and back street apperal and we don't know if he took other raider hideouts besides shamrock and back street apperal
Funny, played Skyrim yesterday, and there was a similar cage with a wolve in it, and when I opened it, 2 hunters appeared as well. This did not lead to a traded in Skyrim, but it's funny that I just saw this yesterday in Skyrim too.

F.D.R's (the president during the great depression) wife's name was Eleanor. Also, F.D.R's fifth cousin was good ol' TEDDY Roosevelt himself (another president of the U.S.). Maybe I'm looking into this too much and maybe it's just coincidence, but maybe if you look a bit for some reference to F.D.R. you'll find one.

That wounding/ bleeding +25 combat rifle is really good till you can get and upgrade the Overseer's Combat rifle double shot to .308 . I have probably walked right by that cage.
