I remember when this was first out, it’s one of the harder ARGs for me to watch recaps of, it hits too much of a real fear for me but still so good lmao
Same here! It's a very real fear in many people as I found out. Because... it's something that *could* happen, but there's nothing we could do about it if it would to happen. So yeah I totally get you, it's scary but still really good, probably because it's realistic

I think there's one big thing about this series that makes it scary: Nothing is explained, we don't know *what* is going on or why, we don't even know who the attackers are, or even what they look like, it's not about being in the darkness, it's about what lurks in the darkness
13:29 the single most realistic thing is that even though they have a security system, anyone can screw up on remembering things in a panic situation, and completely compromise their trust. For a while, most of us assumed danyon for dead and wrote him off as a light zombie, but turns out he's just bad at remembering a crisis situation, or reading previous messages to remember there was a security system in play. Actually, you might not want to be with Dayton now that I'm thinking about it, he seems to be an idiot
Eh, this is where it became kinda contrived for me. It's one thing to forget the information requested, but the way he replies in such a specific manner as if he doesn't have any idea why TSV would be asking questions just comes off as a 'Character talks like they know they need to trick the audience' moment.
My assumption was at this point his account already wasn't his own, and We The People wrote those messages and just couldn't get that information out of him or something similar.
Since Danyon mentioned his might not being clear, I assumed he drank contaminated water, partially looked into a light, or did something like that which compromised him inconsistently.

I get it to an extent, though. It just keeps going off the rails, and the longer it goes on, the higher the chance of it jumping the shark. A lot of people think it already has with the dark water/hulk thing the MC has undergone. It's gone from alarming and creepy but still believable, to kinda outlandish.
This is the ARG that got my ex partner, Who’s only interest is literally basketball, interested into this ARG thing I’ve been trying to tell him about forever. And the best thing is is because he got excited about it and then showed it to me and I went oh this is an ARG. And he finally understood why I enjoyed them so much. Because a good arg just sucks you in where you forget you’re watching an arg unfold.
Oh this brings back MEMORIES, The Sun Vanished was the FIRST ARG I even watched a video on. Night mind, you introduced me to a whole genre on the internet that has become a huge source of entertainment for me to listen to while I draw. I can’t thank you enough, what could’ve been hours of searching for a video to listen to instead has been finding a video covering an arg and being able to pop that on and help me focus on tasks. Cannot thank you enough, and when I saw this video I was INSTANTLY hyped to listen in.
As popular as most all *ARGs* are, I haven’t ever purposely ever went looking for any of them or ever accidentally stumbled upon one by myself. So I’m very Thankful to have *NightMind* around to show me every single amazing *ARGs* ६ gives me the best interpretations of each one to help me understand along the way through them. So _THANK YOU SO MUCH_ *NightMind* for all of your videos & hard-work!!
Fantastic Daily briefly came back in 2019 as Red Hot Punch... by than we weren't really talking. I'm mad that he deleted his videos. I would have liked to keep the ones I was in. I didn't think to record it. But TSV, FD, myself and others had some great discussions.
Happy New Year! If you enjoyed The Sun Vanished, be sure to follow the account on Twitter and check out the proof of concept short film! (Right here: ua-cam.com/video/wwcNLKmOfcs/v-deo.html )
This one reminds me of a nightmare I had once about the sunlight infecting people with insanity and making everyone live inside with the curtains drawn. Although I guess this is kind of the reverse of that.
I was so excited to see this pop up in my recommended. Usually I don’t comment on UA-cam videos but I just really love your work Night Mind! I’m excited to see your take on one of the first ARGs I heard about.
What was your name on FD's show again? I was the biggest fan of Andrew and subbed when he was just starting the BEK story, I think I subbed like a month before he did the episode about the 2 black eyed kids in london that hijacked an ambulance/cop car and killed the drivers , or maybe they just got arrested. But after his doxxing , which was unfortunate , I thoroughly enjoyed yalls podcasts and the 24 hour marathons. You lived down near abilene right? God he had lightning in a bottle with that bek series, the whole summer of 2017 I was engrossed in it, sometimes being woken at 3am to a new video and being scared shitless, even though i was 38 years old, lol. I remeber the episode where FD kinda let it spill that aidan was tsv , oh and the copycat binary moon guy that got abducted from his car was cool.
I liked the start of the series more than where it ended up. Wish we could've had more strobe encounters, video or audio updates, etc. For me, the strength of such stories is the creative DIY visuals, like turning a strobing light into an eerie otherworldly happening.
holy crap I used to love this story years ago and never heard much since then. It's so cool to see it being covered again in more detail after so longg
Can I just say that over the last year, Nick has really improved with changing voices and tones while reading? It really shows the raw emotion and some great variation. Great job!
Here from Nexpo's video. 5 years ago This ARG project impressed millions of people and still is phenomenal. Only if it's adapted at a cinematic level. Terrifying.....
I subtitled the concept film and I remember having to stop myself a couple times while doing it because it was just THAT good. Aidan is a lovely person and creates amazing unfiction.
"Long before time had a name, Ninjago was created by the First Spinjitzu Master, using the Four Weapons of Spinjitzu. When he passed away, his two sons swore to protect them, but the oldest was consumed by darkness and wanted to possess them. A battle between brothers broke out, and the oldest was struck down and banished to the Underworld. Peace returned, and the younger brother hid the weapons, but knowing his older brother's relentless ambition for power, he placed a guardian to protect them. And for fear of his own demise, a map for an honest man to hide. That honest man was your father. The older brother is Lord Garmadon, and I... need to find those weapons before he does." -Sensei Wu, Way of the Ninja
this was my first accidental introduction to ARGs, before i even knew what and ARG is! i just remember thinking it's so so cool and creative, plus the whole twitter setup instead of youtube felt much more realistic and down to earth. looking back, it was brilliant (haven't kept up in a long time tho), no cheap jumpscares and eerie music, logical chain of thinking from the protagonist, really makes you appreciate all the little details! direct interaction with followers was a very nice touch too
I remember when this ARG first started and followed it up until maybe a few months ago, had to go through every tweet. While it started off good, kinda felt like it was slowing down, the remember gallery and hostage situation kinda felt underwhelming and I got uninterested when they finally destroyed one of those flashing light alien things.
I'm so glad to hear TSV came back. I followed it religiously and was really disappointed to see it take a marble hornets length hiatus. I thought it ended! Your video got me rengaged and *mwah* is it wonderful
I want a part 2 of this cause your voice is soothing and I can’t listen to Twitter (which sounds like a nightmare on its own) and don’t have much free time to catch up and read
This is the first arg I started to follow, and although I’ve deleted Twitter and have lost a reliable way to keep up to date with the story, TSV still holds a very special place in my heart for showing me what ARGs have to offer.
I feel like this one breathed a new life into you. I'm stoked for more. I have watched almost all of your videos and this is the first thing I'm getting myself personally into since Reverse Transmission and The Cry of Mann. (I tried eckva but I got kind of bored with it)
I really enjoyed thesunvanished when it first started out and was very interested in it, but over time kinda fell out with its story. Especially when the account itself would retweet immersion breaking shit. Like it retweeting the short film or retweeting the creator them self about some complaint about how one episode of Love Death + Robots second season episodes “ripped of the blinking lights that detect movement” from TheSunVanished. They would later unretweet these messages as people complained about it.
I feel like a small handful of temporary retweets, especially about funding, during a hiatus due to unforseen circumstances is not really a big deal. Pretty much any of the popular ARGs have used their platform like that.
@@blader127b they weren’t temporary at first, they stayed on even when he was continuing the story, he only removed them once people brought up it was breaking immersion.
@@someguyloki8483 no, they really were all meant to be temporary, he said that. There wasn't really a point to keep them up very long as they were all short term situations. he didn't delete them all at the same time. It was different over the few months they were up. And by the end of the actual hiatus (the return thread), they all were gone.

This series has kinda permanently fucked me up mentally. When I saw it back in 2018, I thought it was strange but the next day I woke up very early and thought “Wait, should it be daytime by now?” And then started 4 years of constant daily panic attacks every single morning. Fortunately I have alleviated all of my delusions, but still get racing heart and thoughts in the morning but can rationalise it all out. Thanks a lot, Aiden.
as of today, tsv is still going strong. At the time of this posting, Nat has taken over the account and TSV... I think he's gone. I have to read through a lot to catch up. Last posting from the time of this writing is 4 hours ago. These guys are so creative, I'm so happy they're still going strong!
i love the sheer creativity behind tsv, aiden elliot literally found a way to turn flickering coloured lights into something that genuinely makes me so tense and is actually scary and Iove it!
Just finished this comic called Distant Sky, and the first portion of the comic takes place in a one of many cities that has fallen into sinkholes all around the world, and those sunken cities are shrouded in complete darkness. Not just darkness by an abysmal black. Very intense horror thriller, and I love the concept. This ARG gave me the same eerie, bone chilling vibes that I can’t seem to get enough of. It’s terrifying to imagine, literal nightmare fuel. Absolutely going to check TSV’s story out
Honestly they had me with the story of survival and paranoia, then they lost me as the protag sloly became the chosen one whose twitter account will some how save the world.
Fellow night mind fans, what would be the best way to tell nick he should look into the game Inscryption It both seems a game he would love but also an experience cater made for his eye for detail and mind for analysis. Even if he's too busy to cover it, having played inscryption and being a fan of nick I know how much he'd treasure it and I'd really love to send that his way.
The news reporter's voice always creeped me out but it only just occurred to me why: she doesn't sound concerned at ALL. It's almost robotic. That coupled with some of the lore/theories that pop up later in the series makes my skin crawl. 10/10 ARG.
I discovered TSV by accident one day, years ago. I was confused and didn't know what the account was supposed to be but I followed the story and I am HOOKED. This Twitter account has me more hooked than any TV show I've ever watched.
Ah, TSV. Long time no see. I was already pretty into ARGs when it started, but it was one of the first I followed in real time for a bit (maybe at least partially because it started on my birthday)
I found videos on this ARG a couple months before the reboot and figure it was just dead and was kinda sad. So it's cool that there's another story arch going and that the long break makes sense with the story that has already happened.
I took a picture of a frozen lake in the dark while ice fishing in February. I kinda forgot about it and sent it to TSV claiming it was Lake Superior in June. He retweeted it, which was cool. Unfortunately, neither of us noticed a car in the distance with its tail lights on. Kinda screwed that one up.
This is one of the better ARG series, concept-wise. Actually manages to stay interesting as it goes, to boot. The "acting" from the news reporter in the very first video is still jarringly bad though... I do fear it's going to start moving in an action movie/anime style direction and jump the shark, though...
for the people who don't know, and since it wasn't mentioned, shortly after TSV moved to the neighbor's house he reported that his house's water was darker than the neighbor's. This is theorized to be what made him paranoid, and is probably a tactic to get people to leave where they are since they believe they are not safe, going outside and most likely dying to the headlights.
So glad to see the success this series has earned. Especially after everything that happened with Fantastic Daily, this is a hard earned win, and we love to see it.
Update: nat is still missing but might be alive, tucked and TSV joined up in the city yet parted ways after an informant said he had some info. They think they are walking into a trap but have no other options. He hasn’t posted since June 1st Update: the meeting with the informant went bad and tucker was ruffed up bad. TSV started considering giving the account to WTP (we the people, they were the ones hunting him down for the account). TSV then agreed to give them it in exchange for Nat. They sent a leison, who was Danyon. However, he was kind of zombie like and weird. They found tucker and made their way to WTP hq. Once there, they give the account to WTP and WTP posted for a while, alternating between danyon and another guy tweeting. However, what seems to be a captured strobe was released and it killed the other guy tweeting (I forgot his name). TSV reclaimed the account and were rescued by some former military guys (I think) who were also attacking WTP. They tried taking down an alien ship by killing a strobe and putting a lot of explosives on it, so when the ship came down to retrieve it, it would go boom. It failed and everyone died except nat, TSV, and tucker. They met up with even more former military dudes who planned to take the ship down by sending up a rocket with TSV’s infected blood in it from the dark water. It failed and TSV went up with a strobe body and re-did the original plan. It worked this time but sadly, TSV died. When he fell, his phone fell through the floor and out through to a world where it was finally sunny. Nat took over the account and is talking with some group who really liked the OG TSV. Last post was on March 23rd
Whatever the things are that took the sun, interacting with them directly causes changes. Drinking darkwater changes you mentally, looking into the red light the Strobes flash turns you into a Strobe-zombie, getting attacked by a Strobe-zombie mutates you, and killing a Strobe… does something to you as well. Also, their ships can be destroyed by conventional weapons, so TSV taking the world back from the aliens and WTP will be awesome.
Yes, Kitty. Been enjoying *everything* you sent our way. But ngl, was really hoping you'd do a recap of TSV. This is my favourite!! i love how, the horror mainly derives from the fact that it's presented in a way as if it's a breaking news type given from a normal person (and after this c19, how there were journalists who first broke it, were similar to this, and so this apocalyptic view became that much more scary) and you wonder if it's paranoia, schizophrenia (like in Taking Shelter) or really true. i love this more than Local 58 which is saying something. Thanks, Nick~! 🖤💜
ok can you please do the second video now? Because I think by now especially after TEN MONTHS there should be somethings that was added in that period sooo yeah I’m excited for you to cover this amazing story
I wish TSV updated more often, it hooked me up when it started and it was pretty entertaining, but the hiatuses the account and story seem to go for are exhaustingly long. It was fun trying to interact with the account, or getting cliffhangers and having to wait a day, maybe a few days, maybe a week or two; but when you're out for several MONTHS without updates it becomes quite boring to follow, especially if there isn't much "progress" when you do come back. Making resurgences is cool and all, but if that means it's gonna take another entire year for a few tweets it really makes me want to just forget about it, it's not worth it And I know things take time and all, maybe the author is prone to being busy and have a life, other projects, whatever, I can't blame them. But come on, this started in 2018, it's kind of a huge shame A story with such a good, terrifying setting, so full of suspense and questions to answer Yet the account barely manages to give 30 minutes of content over 4 years, and still updating, it's such a painful pacing and questionable writing, I'm sorry.
That’s the big reason I can’t get into it. It’s been four years and still very little has happened just because it can be MONTHS between updates and the updates will reveal nothing
I missed this unfiction story, I remember way back when this was first starting up and there was a channel I was watching which went through the updates. I remember vividly when the whole “black eyed kids” thing was going on, when he tried to do an ARG within a channel which focused on ARGs and Unfiction, which ultimately lead to his downfall since he tried to mix the two, mixing both the creative side of ARGs with the player side. I still feel bad about what happened, I wish I could rewatch those old videos though since they were pretty well made too. But after he nuked his channel there was nothing left. I’m an archivist and I find that kind of practice to be disheartening, there is a lot of media no matter how small which can hold some importance to someone somewhere. And despite the saying of “once it’s on the Internet, it’s there forever” it isn’t actually true. Certainly for some things it is, but for others it simply gets lost, which is why we have a whole lot of lost media centered around internet based content. Thankfully I have backups of a lot of things I like which in some cases have been deleted by the original poster. As I said I’m an archivist, and ARGs are difficult to archive properly since it has many moving parts, especially an ARG within an ARG theory/discussion channel. Does anyone else remember what I’m talking about? It was a while ago, but I remember it vividly.
@@fantage20012Sorry it took so long to respond, but yes it was in fact Fantastic Daily, I haven’t heard that name in years. I was subscribed to his channel and was there for the whole “black eyed children” thing, though I wasn’t aware of the Twitter and threatening emails until much later. I never once thought it was real, as someone who enjoys this type of content, I figured he was inspired by the sudden success of both “The Sun Vanished” who I’m still following on Twitter, and subsequently his own channel which covered it, since I’d I’m remember correctly he was one of, If not the first to cover it on UA-cam. Before that he was making Top 10 videos if I’m remember correctly: He shifted to horror and then unfiction/ARG content after TSV because it was popular, and then he started his own thing which some people actually believed which caused him a lot of problems, only for him to issue a statement breaking character and ultimate making things worse before nuking it all. I only found out about all of that years down the line, but I still remember checking out his videos when they were first uploaded. He introduced me to the genre on a wider scale, from him I came to this channel, Inside a Mind, and so many others. It’s a shame still what happened, but I’m glad others remember him. I hope he’s doing alright wherever he is.
Watched Inside a Mind’s video on this, I actually first discovered your channel after I watched one of his videos, he didn’t cover the whole story, I haven’t watched this video yet but I love your content so much, and I remember some of IaM video, I’m hoping I still like this series as much as I think I remember.
Dont know how i feel about tsv. I promise im not here to put anyone down or try to change anyone's mind just for me it kind of lost some of the magic after he left his house for the first time. I look forward to seeing where it goes even if its not a direction i would prefer

Yes i do this and write, nice to see im not alone. Arg recaps are dope and night mind is my fav fs

I totally forgot about this ever since Fantastic Daily deleted their channel.
Thanks for making this!
Oh, and happy new years!
Happy New Year!
Speaking of Fantastic, I watched inside a mind’s video on him, and then TSV really interesting both of them are.
Fantastic Daily briefly came back in 2019 as Red Hot Punch... by than we weren't really talking. I'm mad that he deleted his videos. I would have liked to keep the ones I was in. I didn't think to record it. But TSV, FD, myself and others had some great discussions.
FD was 2018-2019
Wonder if he’ll make a comeback
I remember following this ARG using FD's channel, thanks for the memories
Edit: There is an archive account, but there's no TSV content on there

This one reminds me of a nightmare I had once about the sunlight infecting people with insanity and making everyone live inside with the curtains drawn. Although I guess this is kind of the reverse of that.
That would be a cool story
Sort of vaguely reminds me of SCP-001: when day brakes

this whole series gives me vibes of something like The Mist, and that is a VERY good thing.
I had the pleasure of chatting briefly with Aidan from time to time during the beginning of TSV. Very creative and talented young man!
TSV is the reason I joined Twitter in the first place
….not that joining Twitter is a very good thing but still
I liked the start of the series more than where it ended up.
A GREAT WAY TO START THE NEW YEAR!!! CAN’T WAIT TO SEE YOUR CONTENT THIS YEAR! :)
The Scythe of Quakes, the Nunchucks of Lightning, the Shurikens of Ice and the Sword of Fire. Weapons so powerful, no one can handle all of their power at once! The older brother is Lord Garmadon, and I... need to find those weapons before he does."

this was my first accidental introduction to ARGs, before i even knew what and ARG is! i just remember thinking it's so so cool and creative, plus the whole twitter setup instead of youtube felt much more realistic and down to earth. looking back, it was brilliant (haven't kept up in a long time tho), no cheap jumpscares and eerie music, logical chain of thinking from the protagonist, really makes you appreciate all the little details! direct interaction with followers was a very nice touch too
I remember when this ARG first started and followed it up until maybe a few months ago, had to go through every tweet.
The moment I’ve been waiting for. Night Mind covering one of my personal favorite ARG’s. Thank you.
@@blader127b maybe that’s my mistake then, I only recall them all disappearing after the Love Death + Robots complaint situation.
I don't think he owns the concept of lights lol
0:26 "Sometimes I feel like I have a good handle on this whole situation and am thinking rationally and logically, but other times I feel like B A L L I N"
The first tweet I saw about this, I was not aware of ARGS. I thought this was real, I was completely enamored with this "real life" scenario. The simplicity of the sun vanishing seems so mundane but this person did S U C H a good job.
Dont comment often, but I am so glad your channel exists, because I love these kinds of stories, but don't have the patience, courage, time and willpower to dive into an arg, but having a channel that meticulously and logically breaks down and explains them is so helpful
Yeah TSV went boom
i love the sheer creativity behind tsv, aiden elliot literally found a way to turn flickering coloured lights into something that genuinely makes me so tense and is actually scary and Iove it!
Absolutely going to check TSV’s story out
I LOVE THAT COMIC super intense. this does give the same vibes for sure
Honestly they had me with the story of survival and paranoia, then they lost me as the protag sloly became the chosen one whose twitter account will some how save the world.
Fellow night mind fans, what would be the best way to tell nick he should look into the game Inscryption
It both seems a game he would love but also an experience cater made for his eye for detail and mind for analysis. Even if he's too busy to cover it, having played inscryption and being a fan of nick I know how much he'd treasure it and I'd really love to send that his way.
Direct messaging them would be a good idea ❤️❤️
YESS, let’s get him to do it!
This was just recommended to me today and I remember following along with this, I was so invested
This is so cool! I remember when TSV first started, I was so intrigued
so glad it didnt just die off like most args tend to do, thanks for compiling a nice recap of everything
One of my first journeys into unfiction so many years ago! Thank you for covering the full story. :)
In the middle of this video I was so creeped out that I clicked off. But then I came back because I was hooked, and I don't regret it.
TSV is so cool.
I’m not a social media man myself so I only ever followed it via UA-cam creators like yourself. Excited to see it on your channel!
I loved TSV, it was one of the first ARG's I saw. Thanks for the recap!
Such a massive change on an astronomical scale that affects our life is so creepy. Even if it was just the moon disappearing it would be eerie
So much has happened since you made this video
this would be amazing as a limited series on HBO
A server mate of mine in the Dark Gathering was watching this, so naturally I had to revisit
SAMEEE I’m so happy
This was the first ARG I ever came across through ARG UA-camrs and I’m so so happy to see this
I took a picture of a frozen lake in the dark while ice fishing in February.
Nah, that’s exactly how news reporters sound
@@tylercoon1791 It was average, the script was not very good though
@@smil9083 an real news scripts are?
That's how reporters deliver, though. Especially local ones, not the big cable news networks.
Really? I thought the complete opposite
for the people who don't know, and since it wasn't mentioned, shortly after TSV moved to the neighbor's house he reported that his house's water was darker than the neighbor's.
Havent seen this ARGs name pop up in so long. This is perfect, just smoked a bowl and now i’ll sit back and enjoy.
They had me until the MC started becoming the chosen one and found a way to fight back.
Inside A Mind's coverage of this a few years back was my first introduction to Unfiction. Cool to see how it progressed.
Update: nat is still missing but might be alive, tucked and TSV joined up in the city yet parted ways after an informant said he had some info. They think they are walking into a trap but have no other options. He hasn’t posted since June 1st
Update: the meeting with the informant went bad and tucker was ruffed up bad.
Hey I'm so excited you decided to work on this, I didn't get twitter until recently, thank you so much Night Mind ^^
The sounds of the flashing lights are so unsettling. If I heard that in the middle of the night, I wouldn’t know what to do.
Damn I kinda forgot about this, never knew it was still going
I always wondered how this was going, I just couldn’t be bothered to make a Twitter
Wow, I didn't even know the thing was still going.
ok can you please do the second video now? Because I think by now especially after TEN MONTHS there should be somethings that was added in that period sooo yeah I’m excited for you to cover this amazing story
A lot has happened. I follow the Twitter, I got kinda of lost on some stuff since I never got the chance to refresh on the story.
this is such a classic series and a great beginning to people new to ARGs. what an incredible way to start the new year
I wish TSV updated more often, it hooked me up when it started and it was pretty entertaining, but the hiatuses the account and story seem to go for are exhaustingly long.
It was fun trying to interact with the account, or getting cliffhangers and having to wait a day, maybe a few days, maybe a week or two; but when you're out for several MONTHS without updates it becomes quite boring to follow, especially if there isn't much "progress" when you do come back.
Making resurgences is cool and all, but if that means it's gonna take another entire year for a few tweets it really makes me want to just forget about it, it's not worth it
And I know things take time and all, maybe the author is prone to being busy and have a life, other projects, whatever, I can't blame them. But come on, this started in 2018, it's kind of a huge shame
A story with such a good, terrifying setting, so full of suspense and questions to answer
Yet the account barely manages to give 30 minutes of content over 4 years, and still updating, it's such a painful pacing and questionable writing, I'm sorry.
That’s the big reason I can’t get into it. It’s been four years and still very little has happened just because it can be MONTHS between updates and the updates will reveal nothing
at least it isn't left unfinished
I just want to say I appreciate you revisiting all these old projects. I love the nostalgia it's bringing back. Thank you so much!
Can you give a name of the poster of the vids? I might not reply for a while, so make the message as long as you want.
Are you talking about Fantastic Daily?
Before that he was making Top 10 videos if I’m remember correctly:
He shifted to horror and then unfiction/ARG content after TSV because it was popular, and then he started his own thing which some people actually believed which caused him a lot of problems, only for him to issue a statement breaking character and ultimate making things worse before nuking it all.
@@settingsun5582It was Fantastic Daily, sorry for the late response, if you want more info check out the reply to the comment below yours.
