I'm your host, Darren Van Dam!
Tired of looking for good movies to watch on Netflix, Amazon Prime or other streaming services? Every week I recommend a handful of the best movies on Netflix, Amazon, HBO etc. so my subscribers never run out of good movies to watch on streaming. Spending 10 minutes watching one of my videos could save you hours of searching, hours that you could otherwise spend watching good movies on streaming that you otherwise might not have ever watched or even known about.
Thanks for watching! - Розваги
Apple TV+ ($4.99) Good original series, but not much else… for now.

SHUDDER ($5.99) A MUST for Hardcore Horror Fans, no question.
www.shudder.com/signup
Paramount + ($4.99)
Great if you have kids and they’re improving it with more original content.
Hulu - ($6.99/$12.99 )
A Severely underrated platform with lots to offer for a lot less than Netflix. You’ll often find Hulu comes FREE with Spotify, Cellular plans, and home cable plans.
Prime Video ($8.99 ) or $14.99/mo for a full Prime Membership
30 Day Free Trial amzn.to/3BXl9Vd
Tubi (FREE) You’ll feel silly for not trying it sooner. Also check out free versions of (PlutoTV, SlingTV, Vudu, FreeVee and The Roku Channel (Even if you don’t have a Roku device).

UA-cam FREE Movies

Cinemax ($9.99) All Action all the time… not much else.
Showtime ($10.99) - Overpriced for what you get, Only worth it for select shows.
STARZ ($8.99) - Most Bang for your buck… right now. Especially if you have kids.
HBO Max ($14.99)
Easily the strongest movie selection out of any service, including Netflix. It’s also home to some of the greatest shows of all time like The Sopranos, The Wire and Game of Thrones.

AMC+ 8.99 a month after trial has AMC, BBC America, IFC, SundanceTV, Shudder, Sundance Now, and IFC Films Unlimited, who knew there were so many Walking Dead content😎HBO MAX has some content from Cinemax and they put their exclusive only movies on there often like the Counselor which they’ve held for years and Banshee and warrior hence the name MAX😎
@@raylan9542 Good one Ray Lan, was just about to mention myself that AMC+ includes Shudder and IFC. (and the other stuff. also they will probably be taking back Walking Dead and Better Call Saul from Netflix eventually, and I believe they have already reclaimed Breaking Bad.)
For those who have Amazon Prime, keep an eye out for the Prime day specials. You can add AMC+ (which includes Shudder), Paramount+, Showtime, Starz (underrated for movies), etc. for 99¢ a month for 2 months. Usually run this special twice a year. I always add them for 2 months to catch up on series / movies and then cancel before they revert to the full monthly price.
OK I checked, Breaking Bad is still on Netflix for now but will probably leaving by 2025. Shows that have already left Netflix for AMC+ are Hell On Wheels and Portlandia.
Fandor is pretty great too, it used to need to link it up with a public library membership but not sure if that's changed now.
How anyone can NOT "like" this guy's content, is beyond me! He's ALWAYS got the best recommendations,, and he always puts me in the kinda mood to watch a good movie!!... 👍💯
yup love this guy, whenever i'm down and wanna watch a movie, either new, old and have forgotten or hidden gems, i come to flick connection for recommendation :)
I don't like every recommendation, but I can usually tell from his descriptions if I'd be interested without having to waste time watching it.
One of my favorite channels on UA-cam, period!
Exactly 💯 %‼️‼️‼️
@@ivespoken8902 I'm there ‼️🥱 bored with Netflix and experimenting in this right now and need professional help ‼️
I have Amazon Prime, and contrary to your claim there is a way to choose a video by searching, chopose Category and the category you pick will then reveal ALL videos in that category (Action, Dramna, Sci-Fi, Com,edy, Horror, etc...)
Thank you for another great list Darren! A friend of mine works for a company that acquires streaming rights and licenses them to streaming services, he says the powers that be want a lot of competing streaming services. For a few years you could get by with just Netflix and there wasn't much competition. Now Netflix has a weaker selection from month to month and the price keeps going up, while Tubi seems to have a better selection every month.
This is great! I was looking or cancel Netflix and didn’t know where to go. I knew the other options were available but now that you broke them down it makes it much easier. Thanks Darren for all your hard work. ❤️
I've been bouncing around and it seems to work. You can burn out a service in no time cancel and let it build back up. I always have Amazon Prime because I shop on it. Walmart is also starting a service.
Personally I keep Hulu and Prime all year and then add the others on a rotation. Hulu because it does offer network programming and Prime because like he said it pays for itself in free Amazon shipping.
Amazon Prime just “upgraded” their user interface and it’s actually worse than it was. That being said it really does pay for itself with free 2 day shipping.
I seriously did not think they could not make their interface worse. They sure proved me wrong!
Holy crap who is running their streaming service.
TUBI TOTALLY ROCKS!! Thanx for all your reviews and recommendations! Keep doing what you do!
DVD DOES IT AGAIN! I like how you stepped out of the box with this one. It's a great example of how I appreciate your opinion. You have given us all the information we've been looking for with a great presentation. Once again looking sharp bro.
Couldn’t agree more in regard to HBOmax. Best movies of any streaming service by a mile, especially if you’re not afraid to watch a movie older than 20.
Absolutely. It has so many solid movies from throughout film history, and I respect how much animation it has available.
That was a superb FLICK CONNECTION, Darren. Great to have some insight into all the other streaming services available. I noticed recently (last couple of days), about several Netflix films, given extremely poor reviews, by “reputable presenters and organisations”
2 movies that stand out, were heavily panned, are THE GRAY MAN & POLAR. Perhaps we have watched these films, in a different viewpoint!!!
Many thanks for sharing this Flick Connection with us 💎💎💎
I am so glad I found your channel. Your recommendations are spot on for my husband and I. This one was especially helpful because I have been struggling to justify Showtime and Netflix. Now they will be gone. Thanks for your fantastic content.
I watch A LOT of your videos (almost all of them). Without a doubt, this is the best! Thank you for taking the time to make it.
I thought you’d never mention TUBI. It’s my main go to movie platform in the last month. We have Netflix Prime and Disney but I haven’t been to them since I discovered TUBI. That tells you how great its features are for free.
TUBI is one of my favorites. FilmRise, FreeVee and Plex are also free and they are all amazing. :) I just found Plex the other day and the first movie I watched was, Silent Rage. That's a 1980's Chuck Norris movie, and probably the creepiest movie he ever made.
Absolutely. I never knew that so many free tv apps were out there. I cut cord long ago and you need to look them up thru your smart tv or like I do TiVo stream 4k dongle.
Always been a movie and show buff. Your channel is a great source for new things to check out or old things I love and need a reminder. Great value man. Thank you
I can't understand how Amazon can be so adept at knowing exactly what you want to buy but are completely clueless about knowing what you want to watch... guess it's all about the $$$!
I'll keep watching these videos as long as you keep making them. Thanks. I really appreciate your channel and you style of reviewing movies. I feel like I can always count on whether or not a movie is "for me" based on your reviews. I like that. I like your taste in movies and the way you say, "if you consider yourself a film buff, this is a must watch". Good stuff. And honestly I think sometimes I just like saving time browsing for myself, when I have 20 of the best whatever on whatever, pinned in the top comment. Cheers!
I like the "Just Added" sections but love the "Leaving Soon" because it helps prioritize.
By far your most informative and valuable content yet, Darren. Thank you!
Keep them coming.
Your fan and subscriber from Sydney, Australia
I don't mind Prime's user interface because I just look for your monthly video's on what to watch!! Thanks for being my Prime interface!! And thank you for all the recommendations.
DVD in the house! Thanks for all your hard work.
Even if I don't agree with everything YOU like, all your videos are done in a way to uniformly critique it all and let me make an informed decision. That being said; I've had Prime, Disney+, Netflix and HBO-max. Over the last couple of years I've narrowed it down to HBO-max and I'm happy with it. I also enjoy the free offerings from UA-cam and I'll be checking out other free stuff you recommended. Thank You Sir.
Idk why people hate Netflix so much if it has so many good shows and a lot of contents compare to Disney that’s only has marvel
I cancelled Netflix for political & moral reasons. I will miss the good stuff but Tubi is making up for that loss.
Thx! I have enjoyed some of your recommendations for a long time. The variety of fare, including live news and commentary, is surprising.
Awesome as usual, always watch your content when me and my girl are looking for something good to watch. To the point now my girl just says to me "Find me a good thriller" for instance, I then pull you up on my phone and let her pick from your recommendations, and it never fails, always a success! Thank you!
Darren, Excellent thorough overview of all the streaming services and their pro's/con's. I learned quite a bit about a few streaming services that I didn't know about. Thank you!
I've become a fan of Pluto, mostly for their single-show channels. Great for putting on a favourite show you mostly already know in the background while doing other stuff around the house. Commercials aren't bad, though if trying to watch one of the "On Demand" offerings, I've sometimes found them to be short but too often.
Love your content so much. Your videos are consistently good and of the highest quality. I love your recommendations and have found so many gems because of your channel. Just wanted to let you know that we appreciate your knowledge, passion and work ethic. It has provided countless hours of entertainment for our family.
I have recently had the streaming "existential crisis" for about a month now LOL
I figure if we want these services to improve and lower their pricing, we have to vote with our wallets, it gets expensive just leaving everything in autopay. This video helped tremendously in getting that birds eye view of the main services and I thank u sir.
Great video.
Love your enthusiasm and info
Great show with lots of Great recommendations. I really enjoyed it and learned a lot. Prime, which I have, often offers other Premium Channels (Showtime, Starz, AMC+, Paramount +, etc.) for $.99 a month for two months. I almost always have at least one of these going. I watch everything I want, then cancel. So, the cost is, to say the least, minimal. Of course, they must be watched through Prime. And as you said, with Prime you get Free Shipping and some other bonuses besides Prime Video. Also, Prime has the best original action series, hands down---Jack Ryan, Reacher, Hanna, Bosch, and more. And some of the best original movies and series. So for me, Prime is the best value. I pay by the year which also saves money. I'm not associated with Amazon in any way, so this is just my honest opinion. Again, I watch all your "lists", and I often use that to record shows. Thanks for all your good work. 😊😊
first time checking this type of video out and it was of great help thsnks much man keep doing what you do.
Great video, Darren! As always, so appreciated! Love to Darcy and the kids!💕 xx
Thank you so much for sharing this information
Thanks DVD, another great line up. I always get something I didn't know from your research, a new show, a better service, something to watch , something to avoid. I just subscribed - Thank you.
Thank you very informative and much appreciated.
Great info, well timed DVD thank you.
We recently dropped Netflix. So I appreciate your content because I didn’t realize that so many were so affordable. I’ve always loved Stars ! Thanks so much
TUBI rocks!!!! Their grindhouse and shoot ‘em up selection is excellent!!!
I love this channel.
I live in the UK and even if the recommendations for what is currently available on streaming platforms aren't always applicable elsewhere in the world, the recommendations themselves are always superb/excellent/top/perfect/chef's-kiss.
The most interesting thing here was the difference in prices paid for streaming prices.
The disparity is fascinating.
I'm paying less for Prime and (cheapest price) Netflix, but from a rough, fast and probably useless comparison I think I have access to a wider library.
I'm probably wrong on this because I haven't done proper due diligence, but this vid was absolutely fascinating anyway.
You are extremely helpful in curing a bad case of boredom!
This is so good! Your channel is so good!🤗 Thanks again!
A couple of tips. If you're on Disability,Social Security or something along those lines Amazon has a discounted Prime rate. I found out from a friend a couple years ago. All you have to do is contact customer service and ask about their discounted low income rate. It was $6.99/month,but recently went up to $7.41. Either way it's better than the $99-$100 they charge yearly. And you get all the benefits of a Prime membership. Plus there are discounted rates to add Paramount + ,AMC + ,etc. And Prime movies now includes Freevee. Also either through Hulu or Disney+ you can do a package deal and get both plus ESPN sports. So you only have one bill per month. And you can add HBO,STARZ,Cinemax and Showtime(prices vary, but it's cheaper than cable). I don't have exact pricing on all this, but a little surfing/researching and you should find the info pretty easy. Hope this helps.
Can anyone name a UA-camr as good as Darren for movies? Probably not. This channel is tops!
Thx for this awesome video. Just subscribed, I'm sorry I never ran into one of your videos. Thx u again 👍
Awesome video, love your work. I have a lot of the freebies (now I have to see if I missed some), Netflix, and my building supplies HBO Max. I recently added Hulu and Paramount+ as a freebee. I agree with your comments, however, it would kill me to let go of Netflix since I have fallen in love with some of their series. I love horror and was tempted by Shudder, but their lack of good stuff just didn't make sense. I do use Amazon's Prime Video, but use it for shopping so yes, it does pay for itself. I would love to cut some of the services I pay for, however many of them have one or two shows that are really good. Since I am retired and waiting for death, LOL, movies, and shows have become my spiritual fidget spinner. Pirated programs on foreign websites aren't really worth the hassle, I don't do that anymore. It just hit me... Gads. Marshall McLuhan was right. If 'the medium is the message,' and the message is so empty, what is that saying about our society?
Thanks for all the work y'all put into this ultimate list of alternatives !
More of a movie fan. I subscribe to Criterion ($90/year), kanopy (free with your local library card), Filmatique ($2.48/month), and UA-cam premium. The most interesting movies I've watched in the last 6 months have been on kanopy.
Oh and prime video - because it's included; I live in the sticks and don't want to drive 30 miles to buy things most of the time. You are absolutely right about the interface. It is like walking into a library and finding hundreds of piles of unlabeled, unordered books.
Great detailed info. I'll have to check out Tubi.
nice job Darren very informative and helpful
Thanks, Darren! I’ve been having to re think my streaming services ever since I received notice that Netflix is raising their price. I will consider the other options carefully. You can really easily wind up paying for way too many services.
Severance is one of the best series I have seen in a long time. Can't wait for the 2nd season.
I've heard good things but I'm always behind on shows.
Which platform is it showing on?
@@mysteriousace6246 Apple TV+
Thank you for this video, great information to know.
This guy never let's me down. Keep up the great work my man.
Excellent, concise info, thank you! And totally agree with prime video having a clumsy interface.
Outstanding video - I agree 💯 with your suggestions. Adding Tubi right now.
Great stuff Darren 👏 thanx.
Killer video man. Thanks for breaking things down.
Darren Van Dam is the Marques Brownlee of all things tv and movies! Thanks -- excellent advice as always!
I added a few movies you recommended on HBO a few episodes back. Two of those were Locke and Mojave. You were spot on with Locke. Tom Hardy's performance was amazing. And Mojave was a deep thriller for me. I didn't know what was going to happen scene to scene.
Great information. I am always looking for better ways to watch and cheaper ways! I watch a lot on Tubi and the commercials don’t really bother me anymore. Hulu tends to be pricey when you want the “live” option without commercials.
I don't have Netflix, HBOMax, or Disney+ due to their wretched content. I would rather listen to your analyses of the various movies and series than spend time and money on other platforms.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts
Flick Connection is a better watch than a lot of the content on the services it guides you through! Darren is amazing.
Don't overlook free off-air TV, although many who use streaming also use off-air. The channels you get will depend on your area.
Excellent video. Thank you. Course I love all your videos, but this was special ✌️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you! This is very helpful! 😁
You have become my streaming “go to” person. Your advice is helpful, insightful and timely. I have a question. Where can I find the great Asian movies of the 80’s and 90’s, like Kurasawa’s Heaven and Earth and too many others to list?
Thank you so much for all this advice.did not realise I could get free movies .will definitely look these up .
Tell me, where else can you get such quantified, concise, quality information like this. Literally no where. Just saved time and money, thank you.
AGREED!
My favorite movies are paranormal horror. Definitely not highly covered on this channel, but I still appreciate your recommendations. Maybe just a little more paranormal mixed in would be great.
I’ve been thinking about switching from Netflix streaming (9.99) to HBO for a long time but have been reluctant to pull the trigger because I’m one of the few to still have Netflix DVD and a lot of what HBO has I can get on Netflix DVD but … with the state of the USPS being what it is my flow of DVDs has slowed down to a snail’s pace and currently I am finding more movies I want to watch on Tubi than on Netflix streaming. Netflix steaming needs to put more money into renting quality movies that aren’t shop worn and less into making its own content which for the most part is “made for TV” quality, so it’s become time to pull the trigger and switch from Netflix streaming (9.99) to HBO.
Good info. Thank you
You turned me on to Tubi a while back and I have watched tons of movies there. Ad breaks are not bad at all.
So in Netflix if I do a Search and do not put any value in, I see the genres listed below the search (Action, Anime, etc) I agree the user experiences for most of the streaming services need a lot of work. Great video, gives me some alternatives to the services I have, we just "Cut the cord" on cable a few months ago and are still looking for new stuff. I am lucky that the big three we use most are HBOMAX, Prime (with Paramount+), and Disney.
Yeah Tubie is under rated. ASide from the commercials, it does have great movies. Horror Big time.
What's your opinion on Epix NOW? They used to have a similar volume of movies to Tubi.
Also, Prime membership is cheaper if you're a student, senior or on a budget (food stamps).
Plus, if Starz includes their old Encore selections in the app, their choices will rival Tubi or Epix.
Your videos make me reminiscent of getting advice from Mike of Mike's Movie Madness in Portland Oregon. He turned me on to DVDs I would have never watched otherwise.
Agree on Showtime, rarely do I ever find anything to justify a continued sub. Whereas Disney and HBOMax are automatic subs.
This is such a helpful, well-done video!
Very informative , Thank you
I have quite a few of these services already and just got Hulu again so I could watch Prey after I saw your last video. I might look into Starz now too. Thanks man.
I did have an issue watching a History Channel show on Hulu. As many commercial breaks as on broadcast and sometimes in weird spots. I will give props to Hulu for 1) only having 90 second breaks and 2) showing a countdown timer...makes it a little more palatable.
I like how you started off letting people know Netfix' options. That was cool.
Thank you for the channel suggestions. On a tight budget and considering making some changes.
Thanks for the advice!
Great video, very informative.
The one great plus for Netflicks is a LOT of their programming have alternate audio tracks. Prime and many others don't.
Love your content man. Thanks
Perfect timing, thank you
Great summary, thanks!
Excellent evaluations, super informative and practical recommendations. I have been doing mostly the free services and trials since we cut the cord, and I think it's about to kick Netflix to the curb.
Loved your video. Speaking of interfaces, I found the Apple TV interface (only did a trial) not my personal favorite. Not saying it's bad, but it did not work for me. Otherwise, I never really had a big problem with interfaces. Ya, Amazon did 'partly' fix the problem with 'free to me' but I think they purposely do that to generate revenue at the expense of their customer base. After all, if you're in a hurry and can't filter that way, you're going to just rent something.
Hey Darren,
Another thing worth mentioning about UA-cam:
If you enter a search like "New movies full movie" or "action movie full movie", etc., you'll get hundreds of movies uploaded by users.
I've watched a ton of horror/acton movies this way 😉
My must have are Disney+ & HBO MAX for the exact reasons you outlined. I have Netflix and Amazon Prime but I could easily not watch it for six months, and then catch up. As an avid audio & videophile I still purchase Ultra HD 4k blurays, rent redbox blurays, and Vudu ultra Hd new movies I can't wait for hard disk. Hey, my movie addiction started as a child in the 60's. My mom was a movie addict, and she gifted me her love for movies.
Great review. Thanks.
Great breakdowns and solid analysis.
I have been doing the whole rotate the services every couple of months. I always have prime, but the others I watch everything I want and move to the next. By the time you make it back, there all new content;)
Listen people for the price of $200 to $300 you can get S2 no voice control or S3 super box with voice control. It is a one-time payment with free streaming service. I haven't paid for cable or a streaming service and I get all of their content, for $0 a month. Oh yeah that's got over 2,000 channels of live television in English.
Darren….Wow! Let me just say…. You’re my hero!! Can’t thank you enough for what you do🙏🏼😘
Another tip on Prime is if you have that special card the gray card you use food stamps for Prime is even cheaper so there's that.
