She doesn't really compromise, she just makes an exception, and doesn't hide it. Maybe mellows a bit when she's around her crush, but thinks of it more like: "You're lucky my dorky crush is here." kind of type.
I agree I feel like she started forming feelings for Dipper throughout the process of him n her an being together during the mission or whatevs. I feel like she likes him more cuz he is there for her throughout the whole thing besides the beginning when she asked him for help an when he's mad at her for lying. Just my thoughts
I mean Dipper just went there to do his job an help them, but she was obviously glad he was there an she got upset when he was trynna leave. So she either wants him to stay cuz they now friends or she has feelings for him. Cuz if she didn't like him she wouldn't get upset when he's leaving. Just my thoughts lol
Soos is a dork Dipper is Geek And Mabel is the sweetest little freak. Grunkle Stan is the man. Ford is a lord And Wendy is at her best when she is bored. Bill is a shill. Gideon is a joke. Is it just me, or is that Tad Strange fella an odd bloke?
03:43 I never got the joke but now I realpize how hilarous a literally *painted record* of every Northwest crime is. Someone spent hours at painting their misdemeanor only for them to store it away so no one could ever see them.
My theory: People over the decades have tried to convince the public to fight against the Northwests through painting and propaganda. However they were always caught and probably executed in the end.
3:06 I know people like to mention the bell, and believe you me it and its implications are disturbing, but the thing that always gets me is Pacifica's reaction to being called just another link in the world's worst chain. It isn't as if Dipper hasn't regularly insulted and demeaned her before. In this very episode he calls her the worst to her face and slams the door on her and she barely reacts, and while she does act upset when he implies that her hair is fake, it is a decidedly different emotion. Most of the time, Dipper's goading provokes outrage. This scene is totally different; Pacifica looks genuinely hurt. Dipper, too, seems genuinely hurt, not merely goading her for being annoying and stuck up but actively trying to hurt her back. The sheer amount of work the episode puts in to get to this point and make it feel like a believable place for both characters cannot be understated.
@@Seraphim653 Oh it's nothing really! Just noting some genuinely well done character writing on the part of the crew. Dipifica is only a ship anyone cares about because this episode was so well handled, after all!
I feel like Pacifica would absolutely have a rebellious teen phase, maybe even trying out some not-so-posh-and-perfect hairstyles and outfits, and judging by Dipper’s crush on the punk-loving tomboyish lumberjack teen Wendy, maybe he’d actually start crushing on Pacifica at that point in their lives
Hints this was coming: 1. In one of the episodes Pacifica sees Mabel holding Waddles and tells her that she found her real twin. This is obviously teasing Mabel, but ironically it's also implying that Dipper is better looking than Mabel (or just good looking in general.) 2. In the golf episode of all the insults to their family, (old, fat, braces) she called Dipper "lame" which is probably the least insulting one of them all, considering she's not making fun of anything (Stan being old, Soos' obesity, Mabel's braces) but just calling him lame. This didn't start during Northwest Mansion Mystery, and if it did Pacifica wouldn't have gone to Dipper for help. She thinks the Pines are disgusting and poor, and she chose Dipper for the job because it was an easy way to get to know him better (and she admired his intelligence, even though he outed Nathaniel Northwest as a fraud)
@@iantaggart3064 let's be real, do you think he knew enough about someone he considers so far below him he won't even share the same food as him? Or is it more likely Pacifica who clearly has SOME sort of crush/attraction to Dipper telling her dad she knows someone who can take care of the problem for them?
Also, Pacifica's feelings for Dipper were confirmed in the official "Lost Legends" comic book. And in the official third journal Dipper wrote this about Pacifica: "she's nice, smells nice (like champagne)" and "she's pretty". He also draws her looking the right way. That's also how he drew Wendy. The ship is canon and we all know it
Man, when Dipper was telling her she was just “another link in the world’s worst chain,” her lip quivers in a way that looks like she’s on the verge of tears. Even as she immediately starts apologizing, you can see wrinkles just underneath her eyes. She was holding back tears. You can tell she had her feelings hurt..
After reading the Lost Legends (Gravity Fall canon comic book) and seeing that one of the writters of the show leaving a easter egg that he shipped them, pretty sure comfirms this
@@mubassirzaman7202 Not only that, Alex also ships them. He didnt ship them when he was making the series but after all the hype it got he also started to like it, so its pretty much canon
These two are literally the only reason I’m sad this show is never coming back. Ik this show was never about shipping but they honestly were a pretty good pairing and I’m really annoyed that we never got to see them together again
something i noticed just now. the secret room had paintings of every Northwest, except Pacifica. and she let herself stay in that room, thinking she deserves to be there after what she did to Dipper
I think it's nice this trope Alex Hirsh gave because Dipper is the only thing that makes Pacifica herself. The lost legends book explores more and it reveals the truth about her family and heritage and how she became an awful person, but with Dipper, she started to become more herself out of her parent's control. I really like that Pacifica World isn't the money and wealth, but it is more to Dipper appears in her life. for that, it's bittersweet to see an animated series going there.
I 100% believe it’s canon that they like each other. I got the journal yesterday and one of the things Dipper wrote towards the end was “She also looks kind of okay in an evening dress, I guess.” And then he writes this but draws a line over it “And when she hugs you she smells like champagne and flowers and… Am I crazy or was there some vibe going on?” When I read that I yelled “I KNEW IT” Yeah I’ve been shipping them for a long time but that kinda confirmed it. Another thing is in one of the books, Pacifica basically admits to liking him, I listened to the dub of it a bit ago.
From the Special Edition of Journal 3: "Roses are red, Pacifica's blood is blue, I read what you crossed out, I'm on to you" Start combing your hair, brother! -Mabel

ok but has anybody noticed that when pacifica and dipper are hiding in that back room, and pacifica looks at him, pacifica has the same glimmer in her eye that fundshauser had in his eye when he realized he liked Grenda? just me? ok
I noticed that. Add the instinctual hug from her, and the lost legends book confirming that they like each other, and you have a recipe for a happy healthy ship.
I just love the dynamic they have. At first its pacifica just thinking all the pines' are lame but no real annoyance toward dipper, and dipper just teasing her because he didnt like her. And then they actually started liking eachother (in terms of canon, just as friends unfortunately)
Friendship leads to relationship dipping on the friendship. Cuz the more they hang out an just do there thing. The more they start to get to know each other an like each others qualities. Or they just vibin. So then being jus friends at the beginning is perfectly fine
this episode touched me when she told dipper that her parents made her that way i mean she never got to be like all the other kids like him and mabel doing fun and dumb things pretty sure her parents didn't like it they be pretty mad if they saw her hanging out with them or telling everyone that all this time they lied cheated am i right
Okay here are my opinions on the topic of Dipper’s love interests 1.) Wendy is that girl the middle school boys would have a crush on but has no chance with due to age 2.) Candy is what I would describe as more subtle less stalkerish version of Tootie from the fairly odd parents, she’s a sweet girl but she the girl who really wouldn’t have a serious relationship until adulthood with someone later on 3.) Pacifica oh boy where do I begin when you first see her you think she’s just a shallow, entitled, selfish brat but it was when she started talking to the “dorky and unpopular” boy whose much more down to earth and at first he had no interest in her because of how she treats his sister but eventually the walls she has up crumble down and that when they start to fall for each other. In my opinion out of all the girls Dipper is shipped with Pacifica is without a doubt the best choice for him.
3:33 The right moment Pacifica stopped being just another link in her family's chain. The moment she, not only recognized, felt terrified about her family's past.
It's even worse when you realize that she's not just scared of her parents cause they're naturally demanding, she was literally trained to fear them. They pavlov'ed her to fear the bell like some sort of pet they kept from misbehaving
2:23 How the shot goes from them to showing the Mayor taking cookies from a monkey, all the while Preston is talking about how he’s hosting a party for the “MoSt PoWeRfUl PeOpLe In ThE wOrLd”, always makes me chuckle a bit. Its ironic how Preston is trying to tell Dipper he’s hosting a party for powerful people, when in the background the “powerful people” include a 100+ year old mayor taking cookies from a monkey, and a basketball player. Also, at 3:45, I also find it funny that the Northwest’s actually *have* paintings of all the horrible things that they did, and plus instead of just destroying it, they just threw it away behind another painting. Like, that’s just wrong and hilarious at the same time.
Bro Dipper is low key savage for saying her family was a another link in world worst chain. That's probably his best roast ever along with saying that Pacifica is rich and that she cheating in life.
If someone told me I would love Pacifica and even ship her with Dipper when I first started the series, I would have questioned whether it was me they were talking to. But this episode changed *everything*
I think what surprised me is just how one episode was enough to many people ship Dipper and Pacifica, granted there might have been few who way back in Season 1 already shipped them but that one episode in Season 2 changed everything and now...well look how far this ship sailed now, extremely popular and even given us proof from time to time
The one thing I hated about the finale of Gravity falls, was how it reverted Pacificas character development and relationship with Dipper to the state it was before that episode. Idk what they were thinking, since this episode made her my favorite character on the show and the finale did her dirty.
@@margeryojije7862 I could see that being intentional in a show where they had more time to develop it and make it more of a focus, but the way it was handled in Gravity Falls just falls flat. Now it just makes it feel like she only had development for that one episode because it was near the end of the show and then in ended after reversing that development.
The saddest thing about this is that I’m now realizing that Pacifica was probably traumatized really badly from a young age- associated with the bell- for her to respond so quickly like that when it’s rung. Maybe she was physically hit or punished in some other form baldy enough when she didn’t respond to the bell like we now see her do
@Perfect Events I don't mean a kiss on the mouth, that would be weird, it would have been nice if pacifica would have given depper a kiss on the cheek idk
Would've confirmed the ship, cuz ppl don't fully know if Pacifica likes Dipper or not. Just based off watching the show, not reading the comics or whatevs
It's sad how the best ships last for so short, this ship actually reminds of of Kick Buttowski and Kendall, another extremely good show that only had 2 seasons, so sad 🥺
Wow i never thought about it but your right they do have somewhat of the same dynamic also the fact that both pacifica and kendall have blonde hair and somewhat the same attitude.
“Pacifica Northwest is the WORST. **knock** “And that’s not just jealousy talking, I would say that to her face.” **opens door** “I need your help.” “You’re the worst.” **slams door** G O L D
The roadside attraction episode seems like it's in the wrong spot. They just made it so they were safe in the shack, so they leave? The writers set something up with Dipper and Pacifica, and then make an episode about getting over Wendy? It just feels wrong.
I’m kind of disappointed Pacifica’s character development didn’t last. It would have been good to see a bit more of her interacting with Dipper and maybe befriending Mabel during weirdmageddon instead of losing the redemption completely.
In psychology, there is a common technique used as classical conditioning, where the experimenter uses a stimuli to make the subject react accordingly to the response. For example, if a dog hears a bell and sees dinner, he'll associate the bell as "time for dinner" even though at times, there is no dinner. I just realized now Pacifica's dad controls her with a bell, meaning he conditioned her to listen to him through the bell like she's nothing but a dog who knows what happens if she didn't listen to what he says. That is fucked up.
Upon rewatching Northwest Mansion Mystery, I’ve got to say I completely understand where the ship is coming from and I’m proud to be a supporter of it.
I liked this ship immediately. Her very first appearance, I both called it happening and wanted it to happen. And I got all of the symbols right, fitting her in somewhere as well though it's been a few years so I forget the specifics. But I think it's perfect. It's a ship so strong that even Mabel ships it.
I've been on Dippifica since this episode first came out, and as much as I Iove the cute banter and development in this episode, this also just reminds me of how much both the Pines twins helped Pacifica grow just by treating her like an equal. Pacifica's a kid who's had to live up to ridiculous expectations all her life, and both Mabel and Dipper were probably the first times anyone acted out against her and, more importantly, treated her with compassion in the rare moments Pacifica let herself be vulnerable.

03:43 I never got the joke but now I realpize how hilarous a literally *painted record* of every Northwest crime is. Someone spent hours at painting their misdemeanor only for them to store it away so no one could ever see them.
My theory:
People over the decades have tried to convince the public to fight against the Northwests through painting and propaganda.
Damn you must read a lot of books to understand All that, I couldn’t get all that info from the interactions
@@Seraphim653 Oh it's nothing really! Just noting some genuinely well done character writing on the part of the crew. Dipifica is only a ship anyone cares about because this episode was so well handled, after all!
Pacifica tried to make him stay at the party and hugged him
Now there is definitely something going on between them
I feel like Pacifica would absolutely have a rebellious teen phase, maybe even trying out some not-so-posh-and-perfect hairstyles and outfits, and judging by Dipper’s crush on the punk-loving tomboyish lumberjack teen Wendy, maybe he’d actually start crushing on Pacifica at that point in their lives
Hints this was coming:
1. In one of the episodes Pacifica sees Mabel holding Waddles and tells her that she found her real twin. This is obviously teasing Mabel, but ironically it's also implying that Dipper is better looking than Mabel (or just good looking in general.)
Hiring Dipper to get rid of Archibald was Pacifica's father's idea.
these feel like a huge reach but nice optimism anyways
@@iantaggart3064 Actually the dad wanted someone to get hired to get rid of the ghost and Pacifica was like: DIPPER!
You can tell she had her feelings hurt..

something i noticed just now. the secret room had paintings of every Northwest, except Pacifica. and she let herself stay in that room, thinking she deserves to be there after what she did to Dipper
awhh :(
I think it's nice this trope Alex Hirsh gave because Dipper is the only thing that makes Pacifica herself.
Another thing is in one of the books, Pacifica basically admits to liking him, I listened to the dub of it a bit ago.

ok but has anybody noticed that when pacifica and dipper are hiding in that back room, and pacifica looks at him, pacifica has the same glimmer in her eye that fundshauser had in his eye when he realized he liked Grenda? just me?
Unfortunately? UNFORTUNATELY? What?
@@SuperiorChaotic Meaning it’s unfortunate that they’re only friends, though I believe various books heavily imply something more
this episode touched me when she told dipper that her parents made her that way i mean she never got to be like all the other kids like him and mabel doing fun and dumb things pretty sure her parents didn't like it they be pretty mad if they saw her hanging out with them or telling everyone that all this time they lied cheated am i right
Okay here are my opinions on the topic of Dipper’s love interests
1.) Wendy is that girl the middle school boys would have a crush on but has no chance with due to age
2.) Candy is what I would describe as more subtle less stalkerish version of Tootie from the fairly odd parents, she’s a sweet girl but she the girl who really wouldn’t have a serious relationship until adulthood with someone later on
3.) Pacifica oh boy where do I begin when you first see her you think she’s just a shallow, entitled, selfish brat but it was when she started talking to the “dorky and unpopular” boy whose much more down to earth and at first he had no interest in her because of how she treats his sister but eventually the walls she has up crumble down and that when they start to fall for each other.
In my opinion out of all the girls Dipper is shipped with Pacifica is without a doubt the best choice for him.

That mayor may have possibily started ww1
the amount of character development in this one episode is astonishing
Bro Dipper is low key savage for saying her family was a another link in world worst chain. That's probably his best roast ever along with saying that Pacifica is rich and that she cheating in life.
3:07 "Another link in the world's worst chain"
Probably one of the best thing Dipper had ever said
Dipper and Pacifica had such an interesting dynamic, it sucks they only had one episode together.
If someone told me I would love Pacifica and even ship her with Dipper when I first started the series, I would have questioned whether it was me they were talking to.
But this episode changed *everything*
I think what surprised me is just how one episode was enough to many people ship Dipper and Pacifica, granted there might have been few who way back in Season 1 already shipped them but that one episode in Season 2 changed everything and now...well look how far this ship sailed now, extremely popular and even given us proof from time to time
@@gospel1029 well because it gave a reason to why Pacifica was so horrible to everyone, and even redeemed her
The one thing I hated about the finale of Gravity falls, was how it reverted Pacificas character development and relationship with Dipper to the state it was before that episode. Idk what they were thinking, since this episode made her my favorite character on the show and the finale did her dirty.
Change isn’t always linear my friend, people expect that way too often in most redemption arcs

The Fact that so much Development between these two happened in just 2 Episodes still amazes me 7 years later.

They could've kept them together instead of having the exhausting "dipper can't get over wendy" storyline a few episodes later.

I've been on Dippifica since this episode first came out, and as much as I Iove the cute banter and development in this episode, this also just reminds me of how much both the Pines twins helped Pacifica grow just by treating her like an equal.
