I'm right there with you. It's certainly not my desired outcome. But what would you be willing to sacrifice in order to fit it in? Hard to say that the Land of Waves arc merits its own movie when the entire arc is only 14 episodes and that too paced extremely slowly compared to everything else.
@@BorutoStreamTalk part 1 should be 3 movies. Part 2 should be 4 movies. The first shippuden movie should cover narutos return, kazekage retrieval and the team7 reunion/ naruto vs orochimaru. The second should follow sasuke vs itachi arc and pain arc. The third movie should cover the five kage summit up to the moment sasuke returns to the village to revive the hokage. Movie four should be the great ninja war arc and the finale.
I think it is highly presumptuous that this goes beyond 1 movie, even if it doea well. Budget, creative disagreements, social backlash and more could derail this train. I think it's best to hope for an enjoyable first movie and don't expect or hope for anything else until it's given.
Yeah, I don't know about presumptuous. But yeah, the video is more meant to be a what if scenario, because it's very possible the movie script is crap and studio doesn't go through with it too or that Destin Daniel Crettin exits the project and then it falls into delay hell. I just did this as what I think is the easiest way to make it without sacrificing big elements of the story.
@@BorutoStreamTalk I wasn't criticizing the video as much as I was attempting to be realistic about expectations. I liked the video, but I think the best way to tailor our expectations as fans is to want at least one good movie and be satisfied. If we can get a good, full story, live-action re-enactment, that would be epic. But just one GOOD movie would be a nice start.
When animes like Naruto get live action adaptation it would be best to do it as a series. Naruto has so much story that it would be a disservice to have major story’s cut. even if it was a series there would still be cuts but not as much as the movie is gonna do. The casting has to be perfect
Yeah, I think they opted for movie because Naruto is a stronger IP than shows like Cowboy Bebop and One Piece. (I'm gonna piss off One Piece fans by saying this. But it's true.) They'll spend A LOT more on the Naruto movie's production and hope to make bank at the box office. But you're 100% right. A movie automatically means that they'll deviate from the source material because it's too much to fit in.
He'd be a good Neji! I'll be interested to see how much the age up the characters from the show. Seems like they do that a lot in anime adapations. If they do, then he could play Naruto too! The actor who plays Jet, Sebastian Amoruso, could be a great fit for Sasuke. (If not, Itachi). Gotta be someone with Kenjutsu skills for Sasuke.
@@BorutoStreamTalk I’m just happy I found your channel my best recent sub for sure! Do you think you could do a video about how Naruto will come back into the story in boruto?
@@thedukeofcraft007 🙏🏽 Well just know that I appreciate it! And yeah, absolutely! Working on a Naruto video to hopefully post this month actually. Focusing on what I think is gonna happen to Naruto and how he can return
Me too! I honestly think it has a shot to be good. It really comes down to having a director that can direct fight scenes and action sequences without sacrificing the plot and DDC has proven he can do that with Shang Chi. It’s not like they’re trying to make an Oscar movie but still It’s got huge potential if they do it right.
I disagree that the Land of Waves is a nice-to-have. Naruto forms his way of thinking about shinobi in the Land of Waves arc as he seeks to prove shinobi aren't tools. Naruto's relationship with Iruka as the first person to believe in him and him gaining his perspective on shinobi are foundational to Naruto's character. It's worth 15 to 20 minutes, and can be abbreviated by removing the relationship Naruto builds with the bridge builder's family.
Unless we make them Lord of the Rings long there's no way to fit all of that and make it work. I appreciate the sentiment though I think it's ok if they take their time and make multiple movies. Keep Naruto's storyline completely intact and add spin off movies to flesh out some of things that happen off screen. Like you said making Sasuke the main character for his fight against Itachi, that can easily be a whole movie. Shikamaru's Arc against Hidan can be another spin off and Kakashi's chronicle, an Itachi movie, an Obito movie, and finally an Indra/Ashira movie. Keep Naruto about Naruto.
Nah bro you are expecting toooo much it's a movie with ~3hrs so having all the things you mentioned i.e. chunnin exam, konoha crush, etc. are just gonna feel rushed. I think movie either have totally different story or Land of waves. And saying It doesn'tadd to story is dirty. it was the moment when our gennin got reality checked by Zabuza and Haku about how cruely this ninja world is and this is the arc Naruto learns what true strenght is and Ninja shouldn't just a tools...... I think this is perfect arc for movie they can have prologue for 1 hrs and 2 hrs for mission. and then they can know how Live action is doing and fans response. if response would be good than I think they will do Seasonal shows from chunnin exam rather than movie formate. I'm just hype for this and wanting for further infos
I broke it down as a 5 movie series. These are gonna be family movies. I guarantee that none of them will be 3 hours long. If you think the Chunin Exams and Konoha crush can’t fit in one movie, I don’t know how many movies you think they’re planning on making, but I felt like 5 movies was a stretch tbh… Naruto’s IP is strong, but it’s not Harry Potter. Lionsgate is a notoriously stingy studio too. With with 4 or 5 movies, they gotta get through the plot and keep it interesting. I promise you that EVERY arc will be the abridged version of that arc. Konoha Crush DRAGGED on in anime too btw. There are 3+ entire episodes of Hiruzen dying that could be condensed into 1 minute of movie time.
Btw there is a zero % chance that Naruto live action gets made as a TV show with a movie budget. TV shows make less money than movies. Either the movie is a hit and they make a bunch more, or it flops and they reconsider their options. And re: Land of Waves - It’s hard for people because Zabuza and Haku are beloved characters. But they both die in that arc. Their entire significance is emotional and developmental. Not plot driven. So their presence could EASILY be cut short or their moments redirected entirely to the Chunin exam. Some people will be pissed. But they could just say Zabuza and Haku are imposters taking the Chunin exam because they are on the lamb from the other 7 swordsmen or from the Akatsuki. If you are gonna make an entire movie out of Land of Waves, which would only get you to episode 19 of the 431 episodes of Canon plot that needs to be covered, then the Studio has to plan to shell out for 8 - 10 movies. I highly doubt it happens like that.
I agree that it’s a cool scene. But when they have to cut the story down to a 90 min to maximum 2 hour movie, how do you think they are going to be able to give that kind of character depth for Tsunade? Especially to where they’d explore her fear of blood… that just straight up won’t make it. This is where adapting Naruto to a movie will inevitably frustrate people. There are 500 episodes of the show and 700 manga chapters to adapt. If they were doing Naruto as a Netflix series then sure! I think it would make sense. But there’s too much to condense and too little time. Even if they do all of Naruto’s Manga as a 5 movie set, it will still cut out A LOT of stuff.
The announcement or the video lol I will say that Lionsgate sat on this with the previous director too, so still no guarantee that it happens. I like Destin Daniel Cretton. But, I'm honestly hopeful that Shuesha gets the rights back. I'm pretty sure the value of Naruto's IP has only gone up and it would be better if any of the Warner Studios, Paramount, or 20th Century got their hands on it. Otherwise, it's a good chance we see a relatively low-budget version that's adapted poorly for straight-to-streaming.
I’m down with most of this, but not adding the land of waves is crazyyyy

It’s bad idea already
Part 1 should be a trilogy. First movie should cover the zabuza arc. Second movie the chunin exams. Third sasuke retrieval
That would be dope. Might be ambitious if Part 1 is already getting 3 movies though. How many movies you think total?
