Also the rank up function is a pain in the ass. I think I spent 4 hours getting Mark's ultimate persona up to rank 8, and that's from rank 7. At least in two there's a chance you can rank up by two ranks with the fusion spell mutations
@@connerzed3588 were you using the other party members when you ranked up Marks persona? If you pass the other party members turns and just let mark fight it would be faster, since rank develops every time you use a skill with that Persona.

I played this when I was 15, it was the first Persona game I've ever played. Fucking love it. Kei Nanjo/Nate Trinity and Masao Inaba/Mark will always be my favorite characters. HOW ARE YOU NOT BUMPING INTO EVERY SINGLE WALL.
I do prefer Persona 1 (Revelations Persona) PS1's original soundtrack, they tried to copy Persona 3's success by putting in a lot of happy music into Persona 1's PSP release. The original soundtrack is really somber.
The power of Shoji Meguro music compose with the vocal of Yumi Kawamura. One of the reason why Shin Megami Tensei games and its spin off includes Persona series, Devil Summoner series and Digital Devil Saga become very enchanting and addictive is because of Meguro-san music composing. Such a music genius. Also, don't forget the demon artist who design the most of demons or persona in the series which is Kazuma Kaneko. And last but not least, most important is Jack Frost is very very cute!!!!!
I wish Atlus would remake/remaster these P1, P2/P2-2 on modern consoles. Maybe add in some twists to it, change the gameplay to TPS rather than FPS dungeon crawler. I personally like the affinity system of P1 and P2, still I prefer the dating/highschool sims aspect of P3+. However, I think Atlus made some good sht of a backstory for all the characters in P1 and P2 without even having the confident system.
Nah, dungeon crawlers are and always have been for hardcore JRPG fans. SMT and the early Personas were meant for that audience. Not only that, but SMT was a dungeon crawler before Nocturne. P3-5 fans have really screwed the overall JRPG genre I think.
I'd say P3 and P4 still count as dungeon crawlers, it's P5 that did away with the idea of randomly created dungeons and turned them into very linear set pieces you couldn't even revisit. Although i guess that's what Memento is for, for better or for worse.

@oh Not joking, I had the most fun playing Persona 1 (PS1 version) out of the whole persona series. Played the vanilla versions of P1, P2IS, P2EP, P4, and P5, as well as Royal, P3FES and PQ. Haven't gotten a chance to play P4 Golden, or the other portable Persona games tho.
@oh It's not hard to believe that someone would prefer the first game in the Persona series over the others. Gameplay wise, I am a fan first person dungeon crawlering games like Etrain Odyssey, Strange Journey and Soul Hackers. Persona 1 is the only first person dungeon crawler in the mainline series. The grid system allows the player to create team formations that can be changed during fights to avoid attacks or attack the enemy. Also P1 allows all party members to equip most personas, creating from more team customization than the modern Persona games. Story wise, while P1 isnt as personal as the social-link era Persona games, the SEBEC route concentrates on the mental trauma, and inferiority complexes of two particular characters which is pretty neat. Music is based on personal preference, P3-P5 have soundtracks based on a particular type of music rap, jpop, and jazz respectively. P1, P2IS and P2EP are more ambient and atmospherical which I also prefer. Character design wise is also personal preference. Tbh most persona characters have pretty meh designs since they're in their school uniforms most of the time. The only exception being the P5 cast while in the metaverse and the adult cast in Persona 2EP. There are their casual wardrobe the modern Persona casts wear from time to time, but it's mostly school uniforms. Finally, not much of a fan of the social link system in modern Persona games, while neat on paper it really does break the pace between dungeons and takes too long yo complete. This is just my personal opinion on the matter, hopefully this gives you some insight on why some folks enjoy the first and earlier Persona games.
