Checking leg kicks and performing takedowns in the open are also keys to victory for him as well. Robert Whittaker would probably knock Weidman out because he's a stylistic nightmare for him. @@IKnowImGayWhenISayThisBut his chin got took by a Cuban missile
You're right, but many fans are still in denial because they still think Weidman's wins over Anderson Silva were flukes.
@@madgavin7568 Objectively speaking both wins were weird for sure but either way Weidman was one of the most complete middleweights ever before his chin gave out.
Say what you will about Weidman, but he did beat Silva and Machida in their relative prime. No easy feat.
Silva was way past his prime
@Dacian American
He was already 16 years into his MMA stint. That's a ton of wear and tear on the body. MMA-wise he was no spring chicken. Dude was on the inevitable decline due to wear and tear and age. MMA is not a career, it's a brief window of opportunity for young men who usually peak around late 20s early 30s then it's time to move on. It's not like being a cashier at walmart for 20 years. So, yeah he was on the decline.
Yeh he did well. Weidman is underrated
@@kobe51 Silva's decline was barely evident before he broke his leg, he was never the same again after it.
And he beat TRT Belfort, the best version of Belfort!
Silva was of his pick, he was in his best with 16 fights winning streak !
So many casu in this comment section.. sad
Love how even if The Dragon loses a fight, he still dishes out a war.
awesome performance by both fighters. thank you, Chris & Lyoto!!!
One of the fights where Chris really dig deep.
Chris Weidman used to have a great Ring IQ not until the Rockhold fight where he did one mistake this guy would have no doubt broken Silva's record already and probably still the champ had he not lost the rockhold fight and kept improving.
He went from striker who can use his reach and has really good takedowns and ground game to panic wrestler his skills changed alot
@@gauban986 nah he was just knocking out the old guard, think about who he really beat. most guys he beat until Anderson haven't been in the UFC for like 5 years. Most agree Anderson would have beaten him in their 1st fight had he it taken serious. Chris can't beat Rockhold, Jacare, Romero, Whittaker, Adesanya, he can't be champion anymore. his versus Michael Bisping would have been a good one, could have gone either way, but I think post USADA Michael beats him
And he has more than likely studied Machida's moves like one would study advanced physics to knock out Machida.
@@gauban986 that spinning kick that he didn't have to do. He was winning that fight. Even the Romeo fight he was winning. Romeo got lucky with that jumping knee kick.
People dont understand how good weidman was in his prime. I honestly believe prime Weidman would be a serious problem for Izzy
He would ragdoll izzy
Prime ran out when USADA showed up…
@@gmanzano89gm no evidence of that, really. He suffered injuries
Weidman did a good job on controlling this fight. Great takedowns, kicks and punches landing bruised up Machidas face. Great fight all around. Congrats champ on the win!.
Machida very close to winning this one but started his attacks too late in this fight.
His usual backpedaling counter style cost him the fight unfortunately.
Rabby if he woulda started faster, a fresher weidman would have probably koed him
Machida was def not very close to winning this come on
@Kansas Geoff ohh! Ain't that cute!!! Remember , how Weidman hitted deck like a b1tch!?! Many times! And kicked out of promotion , - like a b1tch!!! Everyone , who just wanted to kick some biatch , then they turned to Weidman!!!
K
Yesua-cam.com/video/gCizzMSs1K8/v-deo.html
@Kansas Geoff - Who's ass, Weidman's? He took the heavier and more shots. Machida just got into his game too late.
Machida was in wicked shape here, great body on the guy.
Weidman just shook of that beautiful left hook like it was nothing
Joe is on point with his commentary!
We will never forget watching anderson silva break his leg on weidmans shin... Weidman was silva's kryptonite.
@Zelina Verger How insane was that to have Weidman do the same thing, this man must of made some sort of deal, let me win the belt ill do anything, do some insane genie said ok. A man will break his leg on yours and then you will break your leg in the same way. Only explanation for that insane rare moment of a man breaking his leg on another mans shin while kicking.
damn, chris had so much more muscle back then
Usada came in
@@stingabee123 doesnt look juicy here. doesnt have insane conditioning either. just looks like hes in better shape. now hes kinda skinny fat.
Justin Ejimah don’t have to look amazing to be on peds
@Mel Gibson Exact, many fighters lost muscle and lost fights after the UFC's partnership with Usada in 2015. And many were caught by the patrol from 2016 starting with Jon Jones, Lyoto Machida, etc., only Yoel Romero managed to beat Usada.
@broootal warp I miss it :(
Weidman was underrated as a champion. Defended the belt 3 times, more than anyone else since Anderson lost it.
yupp & since then it's only been defended once by bisping in a controversial win over Hbomb
welp itotally forgot that izzy defended against yoel just recently. iguess idont remember it that well because they didn't actually fight 🤦♂️
@@bhanuitea3469hendo got the shit beat outta him n caught bisping with 2 h bombs from hendo n thats it but it def wasnt even close imo
@@barbarapaparella2282 iremember @ the time that win being considered controversial because of bisping fighting again in england
@@barbarapaparella2282 You're being very generous there. Bisping pitter-patter'd his way to a decision, and came out looking like he'd been in a car crash by the end of it. Hendo didn't have a scratch on him.
Keep busting out them free fights myan. We love it UFC 💯💯
I like how UFC is building up that fight library on UA-cam! Genius
That last round had me on the edge of my seat.Great fight guy's
This is definitely one of the best UFC fights I have ever seen. Spectacular skills and sportsmanship!
I just hope they induct Machida into the UFC Hall of Fame one day. That's where he belongs. Along with 2009 era LHW. Shogun, Rashad, Rampage. When LHW was at its peak. Those we're the 4 horsemen of the LHW during that stint of UFC.
I like how they put the date on the title, to remind everyone this was before USADA...
Alex Amaya five KO losses doesn’t look fine to me.
Alex Amaya Silva gets shat on all the time. Costa or Romero haven’t popped so why would they get shot on.
Each time I see Machida makes me remember BJ pen fought him..... Crazy.
Machida truly showed alot of heart throughout this fight, def my favorite fight of his even though he lost. Still one of my All Time Favorites!
That taunt that Chris did at the end gave me chills 🥶
It's crazy to see how this sport has evolved, the fights from the contender series now are better than main events were back in these days!
I’ve seen every UFC event from this one. Before this fight, I was on and off watching the UFC
I started watching UFC with Chris becoming the middleweight Champ and now I dont miss any UFC event 😅
These fights age so beautifully , especially when you look at weidmans career, this was his prime
Here after you know...
This was an amazing matchup. I cant believe I never knew about this fight
Yeah i feel like this fight got forgotten about despite how huge it was at the time. This headlined international fight week and Weidman coming off finishing Silva twice and Machida looking the best he arguably ever had in his career coming in.
You should watch Shogun Rua vs Dan Henderson. Crazy fight.
This was the defining moment for Weidmans career. To show the Anderson Silva wins were not flukes
Many Anderson fans still beg to differ, and chalk up this win over Machida as against a 'washed-up' version of him. Some people still can't grasp reality when they witness their heroes get defeated.
Prime Weidman = Monster
Weidman will go down as one of the Greatest UFC Fighters of All-Time!
The Chris is pretty underrated, even till this day his championship reign doesn't get nearly the respect he deserves.
Chris Weidman Vs Lyoto Machida was a classic at UFC 175, my 2014 fight of the year, really enjoyed Chris Weidman’s Middleweight championship reign, good times 👏👏👏😊
The most aggressive machida has ever been
Round 1,2,3,5 for Weidman
Round 4 for Machida
2 great mma fighter
People don't think of Chris as one of the "greats", but the run he had and then consecutive title defense, with straight killers at that time, says he is.
He was decent but he wasn't all that great
The names he fought were all great but they were on the back end of their career. Which is why he was in far more competitive fights with guys in his era.
Never a big fan of Wiedman..
DYesua-cam.com/video/gCizzMSs1K8/v-deo.html
all washed or out of prime when he fought them
The era of UFC when machida first came out was my favorite I think
Nice to hear goldy on commentary again instead of Jon Anus
The video quality is top notch, very nice.
THIS is the Chris Weidman that got him to the 🔝. He used to use a lot of front kicks, and take a lot more chances. Since the VERY 1st KO loss he had in the UFC, imo he's never been the same. It's unfortunate bc he's still good enough.. it's his CONFIDENCE that's suffered💯
back when Weidman was THE man.beautiful war
Great fight. Weidman looked so great back then. I wonder if he ever took steroids. Im not accusing him but alot of fighters were at that time and his career really went downhill after his first loss.
If you look at the fights he lost he is still dominating his opponents. But same as this one he runs out of gas before the finish line
@Vante exactly
@@thegoldensnitch6312 yeah like alot of fighters who come off steroids.
He just like Johnny Hendricks. He was a ferocious and elite fighter who s career went straight downhill after he lost the belt.
Everybody takes them. You would be stupid to be a professional athlete and not take them.
Amazing fight. Machida never gets the respect hes earned and deserves
I love Goldie but I understand why they let him go. DC and Dom with Rogan are so much better at analysis!
Alright
Robert B 🖕
Chris weidman had some really good pressuring footwork.
They had to bring out the old clips for Chris. 🤦🏾♂️
Not a fan of the Brazilian killer hey😂
@The Chosen One just the so called greatest twice. Vitor and machida
If you want to see his new stuff you have to watch other fighters highlight reels 😂
They have been posting great fights dating back to the 90s since the quarantine started ...
@Smith & Wesson wow. Lots of jealous but hurt Weidman haters here. Bit sad really
What's not to love about Lyoto ? The way he changes from low range 4WD to high range turbo charged in a millisecond??
Crazy how good weidman was. Some guys just can't take constant head trauma as much as others.
S T E R O I D S
He lost to top guys unlike anderson silva who lost to bums like giys with 4-9 recoed named takase
@@khabibistheking7686 what does your dumb comment have to do with what I said
@Fritz the Nogueira's and Henderson. There's a lot of people who can take damage.
@Fritz Ferguson has been fucked up... May be from all that meth or getting hit in the head but what are you talking about? Ferguson has been gone.
Awesome awesome fight!
I wanted machida to win so badly
