This was not a screw job. He did not do enough in this fight. I'm a big machida fan he was screwed with the Phil Davis fight and rampage, but not this he really wasn't there in this fight
Gotta say, I haven't seen this fight yet, but these two have definitely fought the best around the world. There's no padded record for either one of these fighters.
@Weghweh Hwewehwhe they've been fighting for such a long time now, so many fights. I can't believe how great they still look for such a lengthy career.
This is why you never put two counter fighters up against each other. Without the will to engage with confidence, you end up with an incredibly slow paced fight.
Absolutely true. Not that I would expect any fighter to walk into punches just to press the action but COME ON...at some point you gotta be able to make something happen. This waiting game for the opponent to make a mistake is only making you tense up and then, when those hands need to go, you freeze or you overcommit, so yeah I think you should be able to fight more than just one style. Machida is who he is (and I hate that type of fighter) but for a fighter of MOusasi´s caliber it was just lame to not make adjustments
First two rounds are heavily debatable. Whoever you pick that "won", those rounds won by razor thin margin. 3rd to me was clearly machida. He landed just as many sig strikes, landed more on the bottom and put gegard in serious danger at the end. Up to that point what could be called a solid strike from gegard on machida was the best of the fight and it wasn't a knockdown or anything just a solid shot. I'd say 29-28 Machida. I feel like he won either 1 or 2 and to me clearly won the 3rd.
@@Vegeta68041 How could Machida win the first two rounds? always going backwards throwing kicks to just keep distance, Mousasi had control of the octagon and better strikes.
The third round is not clearly Machida either. The things that score points is kicks, shots that land and ofcourse a takedown is a big scoring point as well. Machida landed a bit from the bottom the first few seconds, but that wasnt anything substantial. he was just taken down and put some pressure on him but by tapping him a few times. Also at the end.. the quiotine.. isnt actualy a thing that scores points unless he taps. Which he didnt. Then all it is is just a position.. wrapping his arm around his head. thats not an actual scoring card point.
That's fun to realize that some guys think a fight is always worthless strategy. You may not like the style, but for sure these fighters are extremely smart and give a lot of value to the sport.
Although Machida almost had the submission. He barely had anyvstrikes. Fell down like 3 times. Took some combination punches to the head. The Other guy did more. Machida waited till the 3rd round ti rev it uo, but then it dies down pretty quick and was back to the xhess fight. The other fuy git on top but is clearly not a grappler ir submision expect and so Machida gotvthe jujitsu choke, but the clock ran out.
@@SuperCucko Yeah this is my problem with 10-9 vs 10-8 judging. I can totally see gegard getting 10-9 for the first 2 rounds. But machida just plain put gegard in more danger at the end of the 3rd and clearly won the 3rd with good strikes, more strikes from bottom and the super close sub compared to good strikes and one takedown that absolutely nothing was accomplished with besides getting clobbered and almost subbed. So the clear 3rd for machida is a 10-9...because to get a 10-8 the other fighter has to completely be dominated the whole round but that's worth the same as gegard barely outstriking machida in the first two? Like I see gegard winning by round. But I feel like Machida won the fight. Machida was never in any danger besides being slightly dazed by a good shot but not knocked down or anything 10 more seconds he might of subbed gegard. I hate fights like this.
@@GinoNL Lol that's criminal to say gegard dominated all three rounds. He got one good strike in and one takedown. Besides that all he did was barely outstrike machida. Machida got a few good head kicks, clobbered gegard on the ground while gegard strugged to land anything after takedown and almost got the sub.
great fight. anyone complaining about slow pace or inaction, needs to understand that these two warriors respect each other's power. one mistake could cost them the fight. mad respect for these two fighters.
Nobody wanted to be the first to make a mistake.. however I credit Machida for taking that risk with the head kicks, even though he then lost balance and had to pull guard.. he still landed more shots from the guard and nearly submitted Mousasi..
Machida did fall to the ground the 3rd round. Its cuz the other guy lacks jujitsu, grapling and submision skill. He had combos and was the agressorvfor all 3 rounds.
@BIGMONEYJEFFAFA MAchida had the better strikes (including kicks) and the better ground game in round three. The first round was a slight edge to mousasi, the second was very close.
