- Millions of Americans know characters like Young Sheldon and Doogie Howser as super-smart prodigies who are entertaining to watch on TV. Mark Strassmann meets the real deal, 12-year-old Caleb Anderson, who is already cruising through college courses.
This kid speaks more eloquently than 90% of grown adults.
I already felt dumber by the first thing he said
Cause he's a genius...sherlock....
90% of adults didn’t start college at 12 years old

Agreed.
"I'm not really smart. I just grasp information quickly." Nice that he is humble, but that is pretty much the definition of smart.
Ikr😂😂 so sweet
That college has a GPA requirement of 2.0, a C average and has a 100% acceptance rate.
Davey Robinson you’re talking about chattahoochee college in the one picture, but that’s the college he took classes at before going to georgia tech, which is the one he’s touring in the video and has an acceptance rate of 21.5%
Not necessarily, in my experience, there are three kinds of smart people, the ones that grasp information quickly, the ones that are very good at problem solving, and the last one is both. Sure, he's most definitely underexaggerating his intelligence but that doesn't mean there isn't any truth in his answer.
Information retention is a critical component to intelligence. Someone else also mentioned problem solving. I totally agree.
Mental creativity, connection building, pattern recognition, and synthesis of new ideas are kind of like capstones of intelligence.
I love how he explains his intelligence. " I'm not really smart, I just grasp information quickly" guy is a beast.
He's basically saying that he isn't inventive - he just comprehends what he is taught and learns quickly. I suspect the inventive side will bloom over time.
The kid may be at Georgia Tech, but he ain't no ramblin' wreck! 😎
His self-awareness is off the chart.
Humbled.
He literally described intelligence lol.
These parents are doing it right. Their child is one of the smartest on the planet. They're not saying, "we want him to be a great doctor or lawyer or engineer". Of course they want those things for him; hence, aerospace engineering. That's not their focus, though. As you heard them say, "make sure when he is an adult that he'll make a great HUSBAND, or great FATHER, or great FRIEND one day." They're raising their son to be a great father, husband, friend first and great engineer second. That's the way it should be. Just my opinion. Kudos to the parents!

@J.J JR. It’s called humility. He’s smart enough to know that many will be threatened by intelligence.
My daughters are the same way. It's SO ODD.. They know EVERY capital of ever city in every country and are 9 and already doing 8th grade and freshman work. 1 openly says she will be president and the other want to be a CIA analyst. They are homeschooled by a retired teacher.

Kevin Kostyk - you just wipe out 99.9999% of the hood my nicca
Articulation doesn't really account for intellect. That's just environment. That is why many extremely smart people who grow up in rural or areas where "Ebonics or Appalachian" is spoken get overlooked. Ronnie Coleman, 8 time Mr. Olympia: graduated with honors in accounting - a BS degree at Grambling. He was the editor of the college paper. He played middle linebacker for Grambling. After graduating he looked for an accounting job for 3 years and no one would hire him. He has a thick accent. After winning 8 Olympias, he wrote a book. People say that's a very good book, who edited it. He says, "I wrote and edited the whole thing." See people think he's uneducated because he has a thick Lousiana accent. Not because of his intelligence, it's just where he grew up.
@@jasonito23 Wow

He seems like a good kid. His parents seem to have their priorities straight and are doing everything in their power to do right by him. I pray he has a wonderful life. It's kids like him that may change the world for the better.
The way he speaks is enough to convince me he is definitely an intellectual. His parents are doing great teaching him to be humble!
Amidst all of the horrible stories that are covered it's good to see a ray of light shine through in the media...more coverage like this please
Clarence Robinson - Yes. But for that to happen we need more smart people, of which America is in short supply right now.
I think it's a mixture of boh america has a shortage of smart people but the media loves to promote controversy as well a little more positivity we'll make this world a much better place
Thomas McRae - Yes, it's up to us to seek out the good stories.
@@thomasmcrae5153 There is no shortage of smart people in America. What is in short supply is appreciation of intelligence. Special accommodations should be made for "smart" people in the education system. The nature is there it's the nurture that is failing.

You know what I can totally respect that
Words can't even describe how damn proud I am of that young man. And his parents are absolutely Fabolous. Just simply beautiful God bless them all!!
One good thing is that the parents raised him with morals and taught him manners. It's so easy for this kind of person to get arrogant and proud without proper guidance. Luckily, Caleb is not one of them. Good Luck with your future studies.
I've seen so many child prodigies look at their peers like idiots and look down on them for not being on their level. But this kid is different.
Praise God for him! Heavenly angels protect this child from every danger in Jesus name!
I joined to say a louder Amen in Jesus name!
What an incredible young man! Proud to see our African American brothers out there doing the damn thing
This video popped up on my feed and I thought it was him.
It's another genius Black boy.
ua-cam.com/video/XOLOLrUBRBY/v-deo.html
Why’s everything about him being a genius African American. I mean that’s great and all, but his about just calling him a smart kid? Period.
If he was Hispanic. Who gives a damn, right? Racist!
Imagine how badly he'd be bullied by the other kids if he went to an inner city public school.
@@michaelbrinks8089
Why do you think he'd be bullied attending an inner city school??
I’m so glad he has parents who have understood him and been so supportive. The world needs a genius like this young man. He will have a PhD before he is 20!
I think this is all based on genes. Any genius have parent who 'are' geniuses, or have hidden genius potential, so naturally they would be able to relate to their child.
He will likely have a PhD by 16 or 17 latest...
Oh my goodness this young man touched my heart. He is sooooo humble soo precious the interview brought me to tears. His family is so incredible as are his sibblings. Thank you God for this gifted child!
Warm loving family. Humble, respectful and very intelligent boy.
Notice he started learning early? More parents might want to do the same. There is no guaranty to produce another genius but what's the downside? Great family!
So true.
they do. they stick them in front of a tv as per "sheep development 101-infant stage". if there was alot of "parenting" going on, then close to half of americans wouldnt have voted for a cognitive test genius.
@Lee Bouba , I was trying to figure that out as well.

because the people that should get attention often don't want it. and the people that crave attention often don't deserve it.

I just learned what the catch me outside girl is from this comment.
@@eliseerickson5994 giving that attention lets them win, so if you stop wasting your time and energy none of us have to care
This is such a feel good story seeing young black men progressing instead of being a statistic.
This made my heart happy! Continue protecting your son mom. He is special
His mom was concerned that she wanted her son to be a good father and a good husband, not necessarily a rich or successful on the career level
Now that’s a great parent
And to be a good friend. Excellent parenting indeed.
If they find a great boy/girl-friend one day, I hope that's ok for them too.. Lots of friends in schools is fun.
@Science Basketball Or just a strong 2-parent household with either 2 strong dads, 2 strong moms, both a strong mom and dad, or 2 strong trans parents, because in reality, its really about the parents influence and in the black community, we need more of that strong influence to do better.
Long as their loving caring adults
Yes, that stood out more than anything. That's all I ever wanted for my kids as well.
someone protect this boy's mind so that he can exploit his own talents and not someone exploiting it for him.
@Shelley Fitch U might suggest problems such as world hunger.. but you also have to look his 1) what his interests are 2) what he's actually good at (if he's not as good nor have interest in biology).. why would you think he can work on solving world hunger.. I should also mention that is a bit far fetched to expect such dramatic scientific progress with some of these issues regardless of genius child solving these problems or not
CIA enters the chat
@Shelley Fitch from the video I have yet to see any expressed interest or mentioning that he is strong in biology.. which I assume is what most of the world problems revolve around.. hea strong in math and physics I assume given his entrance into aerospace. Also it maybe farfetched for anyone to expect some of these major problems to be solve so easily.. scientific progress doesn't necessarily move that quick.
From what I understand (and I’m an ignorant person), world hunger is much more of a politics, academia, logistics and farming problem than anything else. We actually produce way more food than needed for human consumption. You need an all-in effort to fix it. Even then, things happen, people are imperfect, wars happen, people die. Some things that maybe can help are...
- Local food production. This reduces the need for food to be shipped on large transport networks. This allows for crops that don’t ship well to be grown by the people who need the food. You can select and breed native and exotic food plants for certain areas and apply growing practices that are adapted to each area, each neighborhood, each farm, each backyard (home gardens are the biggest thing here! Massively improves food security.) For cold areas, using cheap season extenders (think fruit walls, wallipinis, hoop houses, geothermal greenhouses) can help in winter where food diversity would otherwise decline. Livestock should also be incorporated into this, as each animal has important functions that can help with the overall food yield if you take advantage of them.
- Build good transportation networks to assist areas when they suffer economy downturns, bad weather like droughts and disasters. Making air travel faster, cheaper, more efficient could help with delivering fresh fruit and veg.
- For times of extreme stress where it may not be possible to support another child, furtherance of Martha Vogeli’s research on male contraception should be pursued.
If the contraception she discovered continues to show to be temporary, safe, and effective, then almost every family would have a non-abortifacient, very inexpensive, very effective (if done properly, 99.9%+) contraception that doesn’t interfere with the intimate life, and doesn’t have harmful side effects. This is unlike the current methods employed.
The only thing that would get in the way of this would be the massive incentive to block it by the existing contraceptive industry, and the unfamiliar aspect of trying something new. The former could lead to intentionally bad studies funded by said companies that then get publicized through their money, and dissuade families/couples from using this method.
But those are just my long rambling thoughts.
@Shelley Fitch lol he's going to end up working for Raytheon 😹
With great gifts comes great responsibility. We can expect great things from this wonderful young man.
Hello Donna
How are you doing? Hope you and your family are safe
An excellent example of parents nurturing the excellence in their children. Wonderful. This kid will be joining the ranks of our best and brightest
Talking with Caleb must be a lot if fun. I love how his parents wants him to succeed, but they work together to protect his childhood. And who he is as a person "now" so when he gets older he will be prepared to make his own choices as an adult. I hope everything works out for them.
Jesus, I'm 20 years old and have never used "anomaly" in a sentence 😂

Awesome. He is so humble as well. That young man is definitely going to do amazing things and leave a mark in this world. Amazing parents! ❤
He's not only articular, he speaks like any regular adult, nothing eccentric, just GROWN

He speaks MORE articulately than the average adult.
Yeah.
Articular?

@0:51 : "I'm not really smart, I just grasp information quickly" --- So in other words, you're smart lol
I was waiting on someone to pick up on that lol
Genius, but doesn't understand the definition of the word smart....
You'd be surprised how often people downplay their own abilities and skills. When it's very common for them, they have a tendency to think that its also normal for other people. So his own definition of 'smart' is probably very different from most other people and it seems like he doesn't generally feel like he fits that definition as an adjective. Instead, he feels more comfortable just describing what his talent is.
