Antibiotic Resistant Bacteria On The Rise
Вставка
- Опубліковано 17 вер 2013
- The CDC is sending out a serious warning about bacteria that is resistant to many strong antibiotics. And these strains of bacteria are spreading fast. Laci explains what's caused these bacteria to mutate and what you can do to protect yourself.

The Antibiotic Debate
www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontli...
"Ranchers and farmers have been feeding antibiotics to the animals we eat since they discovered decades ago that small doses of antibiotics administered daily would make most animals gain as much as 3 percent more weight than they otherwise would. In an industry where profits are measured in pennies per animal, such weight gain was revolutionary."

Keep us posted on this!! I would like to know more or at least be kept up to date on this.
Thanks for this information, i helped me a lot with my homework
That's oversimplified solution to our problems, but more power to you!
I have always had an idea this would happen, how didn't we see this coming?
I did a research project on the problem my senior year, and the best solutions I found were:
limiting antibiotic prescriptions (in the absence of multiple resistance/epistasis, resistance genes result in fitness deficit in the absence of drugs)
bacteriophage therapy (which if developed will replace antibiotics)
"informed switching" models (doing lab tests on cultures from patients and treating accordingly - a combination of 2 antibiotics of high potency should kill all of the bacteria)
Depends on wether or not you get an infection from a strain of bacteria that has evolved resistance from other people overusing antibiotics.
I rarely take any meds when i'm sick from common sickness, except maybe some painkillers just to go through the day..havent fall sick for years now
I've haven't had antibiotic for 7 years and my doctor knows when to give it out x
I dont know I was just curious about what a flammable hand sanitizer was
Well we should talk about this as opposed to measles, which we can treat.
In Sweden we have had this debate for a long, long time. Doctors are (mostly)) quite restrictive here but could be even more. However, we are a small country and as long as others do not take this seriously it will end badly.
Well that's just right scary.
Why does antibiotic treatment get regulated globally? This have been an issue for many years and little have happened.
i remember getting strep last year, the antibiotics i was prescribed barely worked and i was sick the whole month.
I love how your name is pronounced the same way as "Lazy" XD
I know right??
I'm actually sick right now, and I take antibiotics, but it's very scary after watching this video.
How so?...
I have C-Diff because I'm always going into the hospital because of my Cystic Fibrosis. I also have MRSA.
You are safe as long as you don't come into contact with any of the new strains. If you touch someone who has, for example, resistant staph on their hands, then those can move to your hands and anything you touch. :(
I think I've only been prescribed Antibiotics 2 or 3 times my whole life, and only one of those times I didn't finish because I had a really bad reaction to it (augmentin for tonsillitis when I was in HS). I still feel really bad about it too. but at least I didn't give into the antrax scare and stock up on antibiotics like some people I know >.>
What did they say about hygiene?
This is stressing me out 0.0! I think I'm gonna take a pill...
Actually the strongest natural antibiotic sometimes can be propolis (but it depends from hive to hive or from ingredients bees have collected during the year).
I have barely ever took medicine nor antibiotics. Only occasionally pain killers for head-ache or high feaver.
directly correlated with allergies too.
I've had a lot of jobs, and I can't remember one where an employer wanted sick employees to stay home. Sucks because I'd much rather rest when I'm sick, but that's usually not an option.
Havent needed an antibiotic in 3 years and I've gotten pretty sick twice. 12000IU of vitamin D everyday you're sick and 3000-6000IU of it every day when you are well.
And one mutlivitamin, one garlic pill, one flax seed oil pill and one fish oil pill
Scary! How do vitamins work?
i hope i don't get the special strep because i get streph each year...
I totally agree. Companies create this problem themselves by stretching their workforce as thin as possible to increase their profit margins. Losing an employee for one day can set them back or even create chaos. And with unemployment being so high, most employees are replaceable, so that doesn't help at all.
this is why i dont leave the house anymore
I think you should be the first do cover voyager 1 leaving the solar system. NY times yesterday.
your the best I love your videos
Why?
WAIT WAIT WAIT
if i no longer sick and have leftovers
i should instead keep take more? instead of toss them?
Is a bubble made of fire safe? and what is hand sanitizer?
Do you have a link to the video or something?
I was thinking the same thing.
my doctor gave me antibiotics, and I threw them away.
I dont usually use antibiotic even if it described to me
I like to return to my jungle routes and adapt my body
but now that I heard about THE TESTICLE EATING BACTRIA I AM SUPER FREAKED OUT
what is that?
In Denmark you have to take a blood test to make sure you are infected before you are allowed to get antibiotics. Antibiotics as a "just in case" is illegal.
Well that blows.
What kind of bubble?
I'm sorry :(
So many people are too quick to turn to drugs; humanity needs to man up a bit and take it.
Yeah, but how do you design and control something like that? Specific designs would be always vulnerable to their targets mutating, and general designs are...well, any fault in them could be fatal.
So really... we're giving out more and more darwin awards.
why are we still talking about this
Damnit, Candida!
i have diarrhea for the past 3 days now, and now i'm scared, help.
What about antibiotics that treat acne? Are those different from other antibiotics?
What are your guys thoughts on activated sodium chlorite and colloidal silver??
went to the Dr's a few days ago... he found in me the same thing he diagnosed me with over last summer. It's " a virus" what I have, and again he prescribed me azithromyzin for the second time in less than a year. He spoke to me about this but again of you're a Dr and know about the risks why would you give a pt antibiotics for the second time in less than a year regardless of what can happen to your pt aside of making money.
The livestock thing is so infuriating
I've treid telling people that this could happen. DID THEY BELIEVE ME? No. Everyone thought I was being an idiot.
so true
1:28 Candida isn't bacteria. it's a yeast/fungi
I never use it when I have a cold
Antibiotics made my younger sister really sick. And her ear infections kept coming back and then she got ringworm and now she has patches of dry skin from the affects of the antibiotics even though it's been years since she has taken any.
Not even to go to the grocery store?
7 days to recover from a cold w/ treatment, 7 days without.
Never used any antibiotics. Needed them, didn't use them, I'm okay
Scary
Example 1 carnitine, which the mitochondria of cells use to inhibit atp production and release so it doesnt flood your system and kill you. Others would be most cholesterol based enzymes and compounds, which your body can make on its own, but in taking the full burden of that stresses cells and leads to all kinds of health issues, like cell death, and im sure in some cases cancer.
Clicked on this to learn something. Left when i saw Laci Green.
I only took it once so if i take one im fine right?
if we had like 3 diffrent kinds of antibiotics and then everyone used 1 type of them and then every 10 year or something they'll change to the next type and then again 10 years later, that way its gonna get hard for bacteria to get resistant to all 3 since they only need 1 of them at the time to survive
Bacterophages are an option for the future if research manages to put them to good use.
why don't the old antibiotics slowly become usable as the bacteria have mutated too much to be beneficial
Well then, this put a dampener on my day.
And don't forget: unless you need the antibacterial aspect of soap (i.e.; you're about to perform surgery on someone), use regular soap. Otherwise, you're contributing to the problem.
The general public is too neglectful and ignorant to actually be capable of following through with this information...
If the Metal Gear franchise has taught me anything, it's that nanomachines > all.
And stop sharing your drinks, and stay away from people who does share their drinks.
in my 20 years I have never taken antibiotics
I just turned 28 and I took antibiotics twice in my whole life. Once as a child when I was in the hospital because of a really bad flue, and once for strep throat. So this is all you guy's fault. WTF people!?
Sadly, it just ain't that simple bro. You get a deep cut, it gets infected, you're screwed without antibiotics if the right bacteria get in there. Modern living conditions with access to clean water and sanitized wound dressings does help a lot in avoiding infection, but you can still lose a limb if you do get infected. No amount of apples can save you.
Oh... Ok.. this time i am going to Antarctica!
i thought she said Canada was a bacteria, candida is too close, im still offended
Im taking them right now.
I eat nearly nothing but meat and have also been drug free for more then 10 years. No problems...except i am no longer eating at the restaurant down the street. *shivers*. worst i get is a cold because i just love to under-dress for the winter.
I don't even want to think of the direction that bacterial evolution would take if we tried such a thing......... really, I don't. lol
at least someone gets it, I have never taken antibiotics. I never get sick, I wasn't even immunized as a child thanks to my hippie dad.
not surprising
I don't need antibiotics. Perfect immune system, never been sick.
But what happens to the body after the use of nanobots?
To many people take medicine for simple things. Not everything needs a pill. Your immune system can handle many simple illnesses. Even when i was a child i was hardly given medicine.
It's only a matter of time, before we either focus on nanotechnology to put a permament solution to both viral and bacterial diseases, or die out.
Nature's screaming that humans dun fucked up....
This was always inevitable
I HAVE STREP AND I DONT WANA DIE
Gonorrhea?! Aaaah! Have him wrap his present before he gives it to you....
The doctors giving them out are just as much to.blame as the people demanding medication every time they have a cold instead of just dealing with it.
I actually think this is a great thing. It's Mother Nature finding a way to deal with the threat of the growth of the global human population.
So basically we are combatting the antibiotic resistent super bacteria with stronger antibiotics... this seems like we are just delaying the problem, and making it a lot worse.
the correction to all the antibiotics; make more powerful antibiotics
Canada....
I cant remember the last time I took antibiotics other than shots. Bring it on random illnesses.
