Builtins Makeover | How I Added Arches to our Builtin Bookshelves

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the power of paint is amazing! Sometimes that little corner in your home just needs a little refresh. In this video I am doing just that to a set of builtins I have in my upstairs foyer. I added some arches with 3/4" plywood and painted the insides a darker color. Along with some inexpensive picture lights from amazon it has a whole new look. It's amazing the difference the deeper color inside the shelving made to help blend all the various colors and patterns on the spines of my book collection. I no longer feel compelled to turn any of my books around to make the shelves more aesthetically pleasing. That is EXACTLY what I have been considering for our built ins! Every other opening in the house is arched…but not the bookcase. I think I shall take it upon myself to remedy that. 🙌🏻

Absolutely love the way this came out! Glad you removed the shelf that was not level. It looked pretty level with the door frame which may not be level? Or maybe the angle was fooling my eye. Either way it looks BEAUTIFUL. ❤
