- I recently switched our dining room and living room since our children are getting a bit older and I have no regrets. I love this room as a living room, but it needed some sprucing up, a splash of color and to be revitalized. I was able to do this on a budget since I shopped my home and found budget friendly resources for any additions I made to the room. I fully support your family first priority list! I had to laugh when you called yourself a picture frame hoarder. I always look for picture frames and pictures at garage, yard and antique shops!
If you add some lovely window treatments it can totally elevate this room to whole different level 😊
Especially if you layer it with sheers and solid full length curtains. It can make the small windows appear larger 😊

I love the makeover and I'm glad you moved the living room back to the room with all those lovely bookshelves. To me bookshelves just MAKE a room more cozy and warm and lived in. The pillows and all your collected items really give it even more character - and yes, that new couch!! 😍 One thing I’d be wanting to add for warmth and practicality too: 2+ lamps. Have you thought about switching the leather couch and the chairs around? It could break up all the white from the view of door entrance and make the furniture look cohesive when standing in the room too.

Serena and Lily! Thank you! I'll add a link. It's 100% wool, super thick pile and so worth the money. Also has not gotten dirty over the years even with people walking on it with shoes and we had it in our entryway for a while. Kind of amazing.

You need a statement art piece above that brown couch and some more colour in the room, white can be nice but too much white and it starts to look bland, I think the curtains should have been a colour…just my opinion.
I couldn’t agree more, Maggie. I started with some velvet forest green curtains and it felt a bit drab so i returned them and went with white. But I’ve since been debating doing maybe a taupe or camel colored curtain. I’d love to find a large piece of art to go over the couch, but as usual I’m on a bit of a budget. I hope to come across one on Facebook marketplace for a good price that fits the motif. Additionally, when I was “done” with the room I started thinking maybe I should paint everything a darker color. Decorating this house is a process and I thoroughly enjoy the process. I’m discovering new design elements all the time and simply sharing what I’m learning as I go. Thanks for being here!
I think the leather couch would go well with a more English library feel, so maybe incorporate some dark green accents, brass and antique wood? @@MeganBell
