Tip Jar - Cutting Scraps of Heat Transfer Vinyl

I have a GCC Jaguar IV cutter. Do you know if I can use scrap pieces for it? I cannot figure out the setting after choosing "Piece" to read the material. It quits cutting if I don't have enough "extra" material. Although I cannot figure out what the extra amount is that it requires.

The machine in the video is called Roland GX24. It cost about$1750.00 plus shipping and tax without the stand. The stand cost about $250 plus shipping and tax.
There is a great machine that coast $1750 plus shipping and tax with a free stand (Its called Graphtec 600-60).
