    Just starting to get to know noise music... and I have never before seen anything as fascinating and interesting as this. You could say it's nothing but mindless mess... but it's a very controlled and well composed kind of mess. You don't have to like it, but if you don't see any art in it at all then you just lack musical understanding. Sure, some of the stuff I've found is very boring and uncreative, but this one was good and interesting.

      Thanks for the input. Pretty much agreed on all counts. And thank you, glad you enjoyed it :-)

      Oh, but the masters of this art are employing structure. The sounds are alien and unfamiliar, but there are real composers in the genre.

    i think i found a piece of noise I like. i don't know where I'm headed with my enjoyment of this genre but im listening to this while making a list of genres I think should exist. like... harsh noise to study to 24/7...

      Nice one. If you enjoy it you should get into making it, if you don't already. Cathartic and highly engaging to perform, both for your own pleasure and as live PE/noise sets :)

    I love this. You’ve created some nice textures here. As someone new to this, what would be the first step in creating something akin to this? I literally have no knowledge of this kind of thing, lol.

      I mean, like creating a similar track or similar instrument? The synth is basically just a bunch of basic oscillators together, the track is pretty much just any sort of drone box with tunable oscillators into, I think, a bit of reverb.

    Due to me being a nature freak and not really enjoying technology (I'm kind of a hypocrite, I know.) It was hard to accept this. But I like it. It reminds me vaguely of drowning due to the change in frequency. Have you ever been listening to music at a lake or pool and put your head underwater in order to hear what it sounds like then? Yeah, that's what it reminds me of. ☺

    • @X1L3
      @X1L3  7 років тому +6

      As someone who's also something of a nature freak i can relate. But short of adopting a hobo lifestyle you're tied into being a part of the all that is and it's inherent nihilism to some degree no matter what you do. When not out and about in the unspoiled green the noise and electronics are where i choose to dwell, taking as little notice as possible of a tabloid species, the x-factor generation or which celebrity i should be trying to emulate at any given moment. Just junk. The noise i suppose is cathartic in it's way, for me at least. An escape from the twelve hours a day i'm bombarded with garbage comercial radio and it's shallow insistance that it's a necesity to flaunt status through posessions, fall in love, have a broken heart, have sexy time and be a weekender in order to be ok - the relentless mantra that the time to consume is now.......
      Yes, i know what you're saying about sound when under water. The way the water drops off all the high frequencies, but at the same time you have this element of detail that you wouldn't normally pick up. Low level sounds carry and you pick them up, all be it in a low pass filtered way. If you haven't listened to the vevoyah harsh noise/power electronics video i've uploaded since this then you might enjoy that. The spoken word at the start sounding especially like the under water aspect you mention.
      Thanks for the interesting comment. Take it easy.

      manufacturedZ3R0 I see you also have some interesting words, too. Thank you! So far this is one of the best noise I've heard. Thank you for making it.

  • @stuartchapman5171

    Really enjoyed this, one of the best I've heard in a while. I'm going to check your other vids and look at that chimera. I build devices and make noise with pedals and Matrix mixers. What is the synth on the breadboard? A cmos 6 oscillator type?

  • @loopbasedzero
    @loopbasedzero 8 років тому +2

    used to have an old tone generator that produced similar sound waves.

    • @X1L3
      @X1L3  8 років тому

      loop based zero - nice one. This was an attempt to make a simple keyboard synth. It ended up being the 'vevoyah' that's on some of my other vids. Good stuff for fans of Whitehouse and power electronics :)

    I plan on creating a noise project in the future, could you tell me what hardware is used here?

    • @X1L3
      @X1L3  7 років тому

      The breadboard rats nest is what i eventually turned into this:
      ua-cam.com/video/0HGfjZwZY1w/v-deo.html
      And the chimaera was an earlier project. I'm working on a second version of it. The first suffered from noise floor issues and a few other glitches that i've ironed out now.
      Still, if you want to DIY yourself a simple but interesting noise maker just google 40106 synth and you'll find the info you need.

    • @nathanswift3592
      @nathanswift3592 7 років тому

      manufacturedZ3R0 Also, what recording software do you use? I wanna start this harsh noise ASAP, but idk where to start.

    • @X1L3
      @X1L3  7 років тому

      The Grindcore Guru
      Reason is my DAW of choice
      Beyond that I use soundforge for sample editing.
      Other than a means to record (reason in my case) you don't really need any software. But if power electronics and noise are your aim then any software synth or sampler with a distortion and a delay in line will make a good foundation if that's a path you choose to follow.

    • @nathanswift3592
      @nathanswift3592 7 років тому

      manufacturedZ3R0 Now, if I were to add harsh screamed vocals into the mix, would it be best to use a dynamic or condenser mic? Sorry if I'm interrogating you, there's just not much info out there.
