Fun facts from the monster taxonomist: Only spider/humanoid hybrids with the top half of a Drow are called Driders, as Drider is a combination of the words *Dr* ow and sp *ider* . Otherwise, they are known as Arachne. Both races fall under the Arachnida-Sapiens group, with Driders being Tenedrydaliaraneus megacorpus, and specifically human upper-bodied Arachnida-Sapiens being Homoaraneus gigacorpus due to their larger bodies.
Second fun fact: Much like tarantulas, both Arachne and Driders shed their exoskeleton/skin. If the subject knows transformation magic, it is entirely possible for one to completely change their appearance during shedding with minimal effort.
Third fun fact: Some smaller subspecies of Drider and Arachne are on liquid diets, using frequent acid-filled bites to liquify the insides of prey, killing it, and proceeding to drink the Good Soup. These species tend to go after prey much larger than themselves and rely on agility to keep themselves alive, and do not often build webs. Those that do tend to exclusively build small temporary ones for mating purposes.
Author's Note: Shining Armor, I need you to know that this sent me on an hour-long rabbit hole trying to figure out how the hell species and genus-es are named, and i'm still only 20% sure I did it right. Not only that, but now i'm giving scientific names to any monsters I see from now on. This video has given me entirely new brainrot.

@@Zuko-o4z Even though we’re half spider that doesn’t necessarily mean they’re helpless, and if they need help being raised i’m sure some of the children that have reached to full maturity can help with that.
It sounds like the main reason they would ever be in danger is because the king was sending people on quests to kill the listener, which won’t be a problem if everyone thinks we’ve died.

This reminds me of an NPC I have in my short homebrew campaign. The party had no idea despite the hits that she was a shapeshifting drider. Similar to the kind in the story. When the reveal happened, it was hilarious as they remembered all the small hints I gave.
By the end of the campaign, they had made sure she had the best weapons and armor possible. They were all attached to her, especially the drow player. He decided to romance her it was a surprise I had not expected that.
Only one PC ended up dead at the campaign, but everyone was happy with the endings they got. Including the dead player.
Omg I need a part two of the sweet potato taking us on an adventure. This would be a series I'd listen to every night ❤
