Swapping my headlights out for LED Holley Retrobrights! What a difference! | ASMR DIY Project

- My OEM 4x6 Halogen sealed bulbs were not doing the job. My high beams were not working and i kept burning through fuses and relays because they drew too much power, all while being no brighter than a gas lantern from the 1800s. I had been holding off on making the swap to LED's because I hated the look of the modern LED options out there. Even if the housing looked ok, the light color was 5600k; wayyyy too blue and modern for this old rig.
@HolleyPerformance Holley Retrobrights are the answer! You'd never know they are LED from looking at them, on or off, however; the performance is as good as any other LED. They are essentially plug and play with different options depending on your vehicle. I needed to utilize the Ground Switch Harness in order to convert them because these old Toyotas are ground switched. I also had to switch around some wire in said harness to get the polarity correct. All in all; easy peasy.

I installed retrobright on my HJ61.
2 in the outer position. I’m very happy with the low beam. Low beam is fantastic.
Hi-beam not so much. Even with the high price, I think these are totally worth it.

Temperature is spot on and love the old look being retained. Cutoff on the other hand leaves a lot to be desired.
Yeah. The Retrobrights are mediocre when it comes to an actual safe beam pattern. Most people coming from sealed beams will see them as amazing upgrades, but the reality is that these are not good and most "reviews" you see are sponsored.
I was debating these for a while but decided on a set of Koito H4 halogen reflectors and they are actually brighter and have a better cutoff and beam pattern.

Love this choice. Temp and look are spot on. Man $193 ea is a bit of a sting though
yeah they are a bit pricey... but nothing else like it on the market and the performance is awesome.
Love it. Thinking of doing this with my FJ62. Do the switch on Negative after install as well? Figuring out if I need to change the wire loom
Good choice! I love my @HolleyPerformance RetroBrights in my TJ. I was searching forever to find a headlight replacement that looked “period correct.” I’m so happy they offer a 3000k option!

Great mod to keep the classic look and make the truck more modern/driveable. Best type of mods! Curious - what camera and mic setup are you running?
I use a Fuji XH2-s and a Rode Videomic. Nothing crazy.
Holleys website is a tough navigate... so do are they making a bulb for this or is it just a complete package. LX 450 has the goofy headlight sizes and was just hoping for a bulb replacement.
