You definitely have some kind of magical touch. My north Florida garden is very sad, and your garden is amazing . Do you add something special to soil? Most of mine also wilts in summer heat. All my melons rot. Your whole homestead is beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
I usually just use fresh compost at the beginning of each season and I also like to use down to earth vegetable garden or liquid kelp fertilizer occasionally in between!
Faith - Thank you very much for sharing all the great information. What tomato varieties do you grow in the winter, and then the different ones in summer in Zone 9?
For the butterflies, get some old fashioned red pintas for a nectar source. You might have to go to a native plant grower to get the old fashion red ones - even though they’re not actually native. In my mostly native garden, they’re kinda the foundational nectar plant for butterflies. Agree - the anise hyssop is amazing for bees.
So pretty ! I wasn’t expecting that the first year in a new garden would do so well , but such a pleasant surprise. You’ve inspired me to get into cut flowers, I am going to try those next season ! Thank you for posting such wonderful videos :)
Hi Faith 🤗. Moved here to north Florida from Michigan. Learning a lot from your videos. Had a food forest up north and now have a sand box here, and starting from scratch. I have a live oak as well, so two challenges. Any advice for my shady spot and building the soil?. Thank you for any wisdom. Your new follower and friend...David
I saw your garden tour in May of 2020. Is this the same place? Your garden is amazing. The powdery mildew is definitely a thing in humid places. How large is your yard. It looks immense. Everything looks lovely. I would love to know how you fertilize. It's so nice to see somewhere is a similar place as me. I'm zone 9A. Janice
Hi, Janice! Thank you! This is a different place and now I’m in a different location again! I sold/lived at my parents in between/and purchased my new house in 2021. So, lots of change and setting up new gardens 😅. I like using compost as my main source of soil nutrition and I also like amending with down to earth products as well 🌻🌱
Everything looks so gorgeous. I need to grow hyssop now!!! I can't wait to see your butterflies 🦋🦋. I love the variety of flowers you're growing. The pollinators must be so happy
I do! Every now and then I’ll buy a few things from a local nursery that are harder to start or that look fun that I don’t have seeds for. Thank you ☺️
