I own a Hori Rap 4 Kai, and I must say the buttons are very sensitive. I am trying to adapt with it since I just got it recently, I got it as my first stick since at the time the MadCatz sticks were sold out. I even wanted the same MadCatz stick you have on the video. I tried the MadCatz TES+, And it is great as well. I have a video on my channel with an analysis and demo gameplay of the Hori Rap 4 Kai. In conclusion, I find both of them to be equal.
+ChaotiKO HRAP4 Kai come with a Hayabusa stick by default wich is equal, maybe even better than Sanwa sticks. You can swap the Kuro buttons of the HRAP4 Kai for Sanwa push buttons for like 20$. I did...and it feel like the best stick around now. Also doing so will save you some money and swapping the buttons is really easy.
+ChaotiKO The Hori Kuro buttons are actually more resistant than sanwa buttons and I prefer them. I started playing fighting games on mechanical keyboard then switched to a Hitbox Arcade with Sanwa buttons. After 2 years of playing and dropping combos on it and having inputs eaten up and then trying different sticks out for the first time, I prefer Hori parts over everything.
Everybody has preferences, but most peoples love Sanwa buttons more. Cool for you if you like the Kuro buttons more since you had them right out the box lol.
The mayflash f300 is a great starter stick It's pc/ps4/xbone compatible, as well as upgradable with the best parts that you can get on the market. it's only 50 bucks, so get one before people realize that they are around.
I bought the HRAP 4 recently and it is my first stick that I've ever used and I'm using it for Tekken. My experience after 2 weeks is that it feels real good but I also reacted to the super sensitive buttons. It feels like you could just breathe on the buttons and they would register that as an input. I've gotten used to it, but gonna get some Sanwa buttons and hopefully they aren't as sensitive. A HUGE plus to the HRAP 4 is that it has padding underneath which makes it more comfy and not slippery. It lays in your lap perfectly and doesnt shift. Don't know if this is something normal, my friend told me this is something that is missing from the Tekken 7 stick he got.
Both very quality sticks. I have both and use my Madcatz more, but I have both modded. Kinda go by mood. Having a 4lb spring and metal battop on the TES makes an already sturdy stick feel like a real beast
Here are the parts of an arcade stick that I prefer: a Korean crown lever bat-top joystick because Korean crown lever bat-top joysticks do not need restrictor gates, and sanwa buttons are better than any other arcade stick button because sanwa buttons are sensitive and responsive.
I recently bought Daija arcade stick and think it's pretty good. But I must admit i like these sticks just as much and would love to test them out to see the difference
Once you passed the akward moment with hori very sensitive button press, the RAP is a BEAST ! My first was the te2+, then I got the T7 (Pro N) xbox and bought the RAP4 for my ps4. Those 2 last sticks are the BEST ! I use TE2+ for MAME and the rest for Tekken, SFV and SC
You say the TE-S is better constructed, but once you pop the hood, it's spaghetti all over the place. The only thing TE-S has over Hori is the Sanwa buttons. I haven't used the Hayabusa stick or Kuro buttons, but as far as the stick goes, I hear it's better than the JLF.
If you can break a stick just by getting mad and slamming your hand/fist on the buttons, you're simply just too strong. If you were to take the stick and throw it (like sanford kelly) it will break, as would a TE (which is what he threw)
Mad catz stronger build, longer thicker cord. Less input lag. Hori rap v is worse than Its predecessor rap4 in terms of input lag. There s more but Its u who needs to do the research.
the input lag is negligible. It's not enough for it to make that big of a difference. Especially in a tournament setting. and the HRAP 4's USB cord isn't that much different than the TES. Sure it has a stronger build, but it also makes it way more uncomfortable (I've owned a TE, and by extension, a TE-S, because they're literally the same case, with different side plates). I've owned two TEs one Madcatz SE (with full sanwa parts) stick one Q4RAF (My favorite stick) an HRAP 4 the stupid tekken fight stick that came with T6
+Tech “Nika” Core I believe you also agree mad catz is beter . Ok some things aren't a concern to u but it doesn't render those difference away. I don't have the te2 but own the 2 in this vid. I like both. S+ better more than just buttons
I would honestly go for the rap4, sure the stick is loose but i like the direct pc compatibility, and it wasn't made by a company that went under 2 years ago.
Are those the Falcon buttons that's been getting a lot of buzz? I hear they're better than Hori's original Kuro buttons. Personally, I was thinking of trying out Sanwa and maybe Seimitsu buttons since most people keep telling me both feel better than Kuro, but now I'm more interested in the Falcon buttons.
My TES+ order finally is about to ship but after looking at this vid im worried about hand space in the stick hand.It looks like it can become uncomfortable compared to the Hori.
+Superunknown I think the circles around the stick itself makes it feel and look like its further away, but im pretty sure its almost the same distance.
Are those the Hayabusa buttons on the Hori stick? How do you compare them to the Sawna buttons. I heard the Kuro buttons were horrible but I am curious about the Hayabusa buttons.
the thing i hate about that hori stick, but not just limited to the Pro4's, the Pro3's is guilty as well, but the joystick is too damn close to the buttons. im use to the joystick being much farther from the buttons. its something im still not even use to it yet
honestly, i prefer madcatz sticks over hori, overall, maybe the hori VLX premium is better but other than that, even the mid range ones, mad catz feels more solid and has a better weight, the RAP4 feels too flimsy and like a toy
I have the Hori arcade stick for PS4/PS3 It also works on PC and can be configured like an xbox controller, including with software like JoyToKey I haven't tested ever game, but from what I played, you can play every game with it, PS3, PS4 and PC if you only need 1 stick. My only complaint is that the little door holding the case for the cables doesn't close very tightly and the gloss finish on top can get a bit fingerprinty, but other then that, it's a great stick
I have a madcatz TES stick with the noir layout Hori hayabusa joystick and kuro buttons. Honestly I prefer the them over the Sanwa parts. To me the hayabusa is better hands down over the jlf. The kuro buttons may not have that light snap compared to the Sanwa buttons but the face if the kuro buttons are a lot wider and I like that. Just to clear things up I've had the same kuro buttons for almost 2years now and they haven't broke yet. So don't believe what you hear about Kuro's their not Sanwa button's. To whom there own just understand that.
+D.j. rabang The biggest difference between RAP4 and 5, is that RAP4's joystick is placed a little further away from the buttons in comparison to the RAP5. RAP5 is exclusive to asia as well.
There's no rap 5 release yet, the "V" actually stand for the letter v (vewlix) , basically what gerard cardino said !) for more info : hori.jp/topix/article/AC/
A little late, but I'd recommend getting a .5mm oversized actuator from Paradise Arcade Shop along with a 2lb spring from the same place. I personally have an optical Hayabusa with a shorter throw and a 2lb spring.
Patrick Fernandez Holy shit bro... I did this shit with my quanba dragon hahaha Im high right now while Im playin Soul Calibur on my dreamcast this is the shit
+N Castelijn true but the the buttons stick much quicker than a rap I have both so yeah. I have a few in the past same problem. So that does make the performance go down
just like to advise players who never used a fight stick if you are not good at playing with fighting games on normal Pad or DualShock controller the fight stick will not going to make you any better.
+IntoTheMeatGrinder Quite the opposite, actually. Mad Catz's sticks definitely are of a higher build quality. And the parts used are a fair bit better than Hori's in-house parts (though Hori has improved their buttons a lot since the Kuros).
yea, agreed, the RAP4 is way too fucking light and has that hollow plastic sound when playing, also it doesn't feel good on the wrist because of that stupid slanted angle and also there isn't enough flat wrist area below the buttons and the lever
Greetings very cordial from Ecuador, A consultation I have a PS4 SLIM console I want to buy a professional command for combat games I will name you some, but if you can recommend me one you know I will be very grateful. 1) HORI Real Arcade Pro 4 Kai for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PC 2) Mad Catz Street Fighter V Arcade FightStick Alpha for PlayStation4 and PlayStation3 3) Qanba Drone Joystick for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 and PC (Fighting stick) Officially Licensed Sony Produc Greetings Fabrizio 4) HORI Real Arcade Pro 4 Kai Tekken 7 Edition Fight Stick for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 Officially Licensed by Sony - PlayStation 4 5) HORI Real Arcade Pro. 4 Premium VLX (Red) Arcade Fighting Stick for PlayStation 4 / PS3 6) Mad Catz Arcade FightStick Tournament Edition 2 for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 regards Fabricio
I wouldn't recommend the mad catz tes+. They are know to be broken from the factory. I bought mine and had to return it twice until they gave me a fully functional one. The malfunction they are known for are, they don't connect to the PS4 , the home button and Ps3 to Ps4 switch don't respond, and the down direction is always held down. For that price point and not working out the box i would never recommend this product to anyone buying their first arcade stick.
I think the hori is overrated. This review its pretty poor by the way no actual gaming or disassembling. What a noob. I had the choibetween Hory rap and the Qanba crystal .I´m glad I´d chose the crystal, but a lil more expensive though. Some wires of the hori are glued and that´s cheap. I came from a old mayflash f100 and If I would bought the hori with glued wires I would be displeased and angry. Furthermore the hori N noire or the heck is called is expensive and are more glued ( is worse). Just because japanese only consume this national brand doen´t mean is better. Do your research. The mad catz is worse or equal but I don´t even bother. Your call.
I like how unbiased this comparison video is. Thanks.
what the actual fuck are you doing here? Didnt know you played fighters
This is the best video I've found showing off these two sticks. Thanks for the video.
Love HRAP4 Kai been almost 2years never failed me even once!
good to hear. might buy one as well, will be my first arcade stick
I own a Hori Rap 4 Kai, and I must say the buttons are very sensitive. I really need to buy a stick. My pad has pieces of my thumb still stuck to it.
The mayflash f300 is a great starter stick It's pc/ps4/xbone compatible, as well as upgradable with the best parts that you can get on the market. it's only 50 bucks, so get one before people realize that they are around.
I just bought the white version of the hori. going to use it for Injustice 2 and Tekken.
SilverWolf04 that's cool I'm thinking about getting one too but for xbox.im playing marvel vs capcom infinite at the moment. can't wait!!!
I'm looking to one for the first time ever I'm playing on PC with a control rn playing mkx BTW but Wana get into other games to
I bought the HRAP 4 recently and it is my first stick that I've ever used and I'm using it for Tekken. Thanks for this vid. I wish Hori would bring back the RAP N3-SA model back for the PS4, as that model was my favorite.
That was a great review.
Both very quality sticks. I have both and use my Madcatz more, but I have both modded. Kinda go by mood. Having a 4lb spring and metal battop on the TES makes an already sturdy stick feel like a real beast
You should mention that the Hori RAP4 is arcade perfect. Hori now makes all the buttons and sticks for Taito arcades including Tekken 7
In contrast sanwa parts are still used in most japanese arcades cabinets.
GutsRage that’s cause they are known lol not cause they are better
Hayabusa buttons ftw!!
I like my HORI RAP4 or whatever it's called. Black sleek, hands rest nicely on it. It's also pretty easy to change the buttons if you want.
The Hayabusa buttons are very very sensitive. I find that it only takes me to push 1/10 of the way and the button responds.
Thanks for the honest review.
You say the TE-S is better constructed, but once you pop the hood, it's spaghetti all over the place.
The only thing TE-S has over Hori is the Sanwa buttons. I haven't used the Hayabusa stick or Kuro buttons, but as far as the stick goes, I hear it's better than the JLF.
when u get mad and smash ur bottons..... if you have the tes+ with the metal components... as to the hori.... u do the math.
If you can break a stick just by getting mad and slamming your hand/fist on the buttons, you're simply just too strong.
If you were to take the stick and throw it (like sanford kelly) it will break, as would a TE (which is what he threw)

I would honestly go for the rap4, sure the stick is loose but i like the direct pc compatibility, and it wasn't made by a company that went under 2 years ago.
TES+ by far the most attractive stick madcatz has ever made. RIP.

No it fine. More than enough room. I find it comfy
+Superunknown I think the circles around the stick itself makes it feel and look like its further away, but im pretty sure its almost the same distance.
I wish Madcatz was able to keep producing these. Since they sold Saitek to Logitech, I wonder if Madcatz is capable of making the TE2's?
Are those the Hayabusa buttons on the Hori stick? How do you compare them to the Sawna buttons. I heard the Kuro buttons were horrible but I am curious about the Hayabusa buttons.
so the kuro buttons will brake after 3 or 10 game play
i lost the ubs donggle on my hori pro4 anyone know where i can get a replacement? the short piece that plugs into the unit witht he odd addptor.
what size are the square triangle x and circle buttons?
Picked up the RAP V. HS for 5000 yen which is so much cheaper considering in the UK and US it's ~256£/$
200 dollars is nuts
So is it any hard to get the TES working on pc? Anyone can share experience on this specific point?
the thing i hate about that hori stick, but not just limited to the Pro4's, the Pro3's is guilty as well, but the joystick is too damn close to the buttons. im use to the joystick being much farther from the buttons. its something im still not even use to it yet

it is a toy you fucking dumbass
gg
You can't actually remap the all the key you can only exchange the 2 buttons on the right or your hori or 3 if you include the start button
I've got one spot on great vid JJ across the pond London uk 🍀🍀🍀
can the hori only be used for fighting games or is there a way to get it commpatible for other games
I have the Hori arcade stick for PS4/PS3
It also works on PC and can be configured like an xbox controller, including with software like JoyToKey
I haven't tested ever game, but from what I played, you can play every game with it, PS3, PS4 and PC if you only need 1 stick.

What is the difference between RAP4 and the RAP5? Would you happen to know? Great video by the way. Helped push me into getting the TES+

The HRAPs stick is very loose and has a big ish dead zone_. is that just mine , or is it just like that?
A little late, but I'd recommend getting a .5mm oversized actuator from Paradise Arcade Shop along with a 2lb spring from the same place. I personally have an optical Hayabusa with a shorter throw and a 2lb spring.
shern SAME i cant do any inputs because everytime i release the joy stick it flings and hits the opposite input smh looses stick ever created
Taken GTs Yeah, I got a tighter spring and now its fantastic. I recommend doing that, trust me.,
shern how much are they and what size do i need because this is fucking ridiculous
does this work for xbox 1?
I just bought the TES+ how would I open it if I wanted to mod it? Do I open it from the top or bottom?
From the top
from the bottom
you open it from the top...get those 6 screws off then the whole thing lifts up... why would you do it from the bottom, thats stupid
where are the 6 screws u are talking about? exactly
mykal ch'chin hes asking about the TES+
i hate how the tes+ needs to be taken apart in order to change the gate ... wtf madcatz
if i cant exchange my tes+ for a te2+ I am buying a hori rap4 next month
Wish the TES+ would have a latch so you could hide ur weed inside l0l
Patrick Fernandez Holy shit bro... I did this shit with my quanba dragon hahaha Im high right now while Im playin Soul Calibur on my dreamcast this is the shit
the TE2 looks really nice but mad cats tends to wear down faster than normal Hori Rap 4 is cheaper but is better to put together and more responsive
Thats not true, Madcatz has less input lag
+N Castelijn true but the the buttons stick much quicker than a rap I have both so yeah. I have a few in the past same problem. So that does make the performance go down
+Ishida _Rydr i did not know that. I have a TES+ myself. Which Hori you recommend?
+N Castelijn the one in this video. Very good quality. Don't get me wrong there's pros and cons to both
+Ishida _Rydr rap4 good and cheap
just like to advise players who never used a fight stick if you are not good at playing with fighting games on normal Pad or DualShock controller the fight stick will not going to make you any better.
i couldnt find a TES, ended up buying a Hori RAP Pro N
Stick wit the TE +
i got both, but the madcatz feels mad cheap next to the hori
+IntoTheMeatGrinder Quite the opposite, actually. Mad Catz's sticks definitely are of a higher build quality. And the parts used are a fair bit better than Hori's in-house parts (though Hori has improved their buttons a lot since the Kuros).
Neoxon welp you might think that, but it's def not the case. plus now you can get seimitsu buttons on a rap4, which are better than sanwa.
+IntoTheMeatGrinder its a pitty Hori has a lot more input lag then the Madcatz. Madcatz for me
yea, agreed, the RAP4 is way too fucking light and has that hollow plastic sound when playing, also it doesn't feel good on the wrist because of that stupid slanted angle and also there isn't enough flat wrist area below the buttons and the lever
Bludika for me, that's a good thing
wich one is better on pc ,steam, thanks.
HRAP4 Kai works without any weird additional software at least. I even used it to play Tree of Savior! LOL
Which one is more comfy for the wrist?
If it helps, HRAP4 Kai has a flatter surface from the top to the bottom so less "stairs" effect when you rest ur wrist on top of it.
